Hi everyone thanks for letting me be a part of this group. I would like my first post be an important one and something that concerns every person in this lifestyle whether they call themselves a nudist or a naturist which is what I personally prefer.
Because this group is committed to discussing home nudism and those that are just in the beginning stages of learning to live without clothes I think this is particularly important.
There is a petition looking for signers and those willing to step up and be counted. If your tired like I am of having to constantly have to accomodate textiles and the world they have made, and look to the day that desiring to be without clothes will be a non issue and nudism can be practiced without fear of harrassment and arrest then this is something you should definitely be involved in.
I discovered this petition quite by accident and I am spreading the word over several sites, Naturist Christian, Clothesfree Christian Village to name a few. The online link is: HTTP/:WWW. PETITIONONLINE.COM/NUDITY 08/PETITION.HTML
Thanks and God Bless Uriel

Question for you, Uriel..I'm not a registered voter here in Colorado and it has run out in Texas. With that in mind, would me signing the petition make any difference?

John I don't think it matters where you live, this is not a local petition but a national one. In fact I'm not really sure where it originates from. However I am interested in becoming more involved in the nudism legalization movement and saw this is a good way to get started

I read the petition that you reference, and it seems very amateurish. If there were nothing else about it that I find wrong, the phrase "optional in public" would seem to me to be a problem. As nudists or naturists, we ask for respect for our lifestyle, as practiced in appropriate settings. Imposing our lifestyle on others (in public) is as wrong as "textile" folks demanding that we cannot be nude on a protected beach, or at a nudist or naturist club or, yes, even in our own homes. The AANR Government Affairs Program is actively fighting for our rights. If you really want to join the fight, they can use your donations to good effect. I'm concerned that a petition like the one referenced might actually be damaging to our cause.

Here is a working link to the Legalizing Public Nudity petition.

INDY~ is correct: The petition reads like a high-school Civics class project with shallow ideals and unsubstantiated cause-and-effect conclusions. The mere fact that neither a person nor an organization lays claim to its sponsorship is reason enough to be leery of it and not to be associated with this petition; actually, from the way it presents such straw-man social benefits, it is surprising this isn’t one of those earmarked amendment concessions added to OBAMAsCARE under the cloak of darkness!

Efforts and contributions should go to the professional lawyers and legal counsel at the American Association for Nude Recreation. Anyone motivated to help move society towards the positive social acceptance of nudism is urged to do likewise.

Thanks and will do, I think I'm attracted to most anything that can serve to overturn unreasonable laws and attitudes on public nudity. I see whats happening in Europe specifically Germany France and Spain and I can only wonder whats the problem here in America? They have beaches, landed clubs, hiking trails, even entire cities where nudity is legal. When are the lawmakers here going to get that legalization and decriminalization is a win win for everybody!

I've signed. New here, and to nudism/naturism, but love the idea.

I just went to the petition and had no problem. I do have a problem with the wording of it and some of the comments that people who signed it left, not all as only a small amount left comments but some were rude. After seeing this I would never support this petition. I am in favor of public nudity but not this.

I gotta agree with CaptWillie. This petition isn't worded correctly or intellegently to send before any government group or individual and taken seriously.

Maybe that's why it only has 245 signatures.

Has anyone given thought to what content a professionally worded petition might contain? Is a petition worth doing or should we just leave matters such as this to the NAC or AANR's GAT?

I certainly believe that if a petition was written and sent to government officials to take into consideration ... it would start with NAC or GAT and worded professionally, intellegently and have some factual data to back up our reason's for the petition and admittance for consideration.

It's still not going to happen with just a few or severl hundred signatures on it. ALL nudists have to decide if this is truly what they want and are willing to be open and honest enough to sign it with their full names.

I signed the Nudist Bill of Right with my name and last initial. I later decided ... I need to sign my full name and it took me months to get AANR to answer my requests to change it ... and they never did.

These petitions come up every so oftent and it would be great if we could get one off the ground but ... I don't see it happening until ALL of us are willing to get on the band wagon.

What are the chances the ANNR GAT is going to put forth a "professional" petition if, as you said FireProf, you can't get the AANR staff to reply to a simple request to correct your signature? As you stated, you finally gave up after no response over several months.

It's beginning to seem, more and more, AANR's number one goal is money collection, via memberships. I do receive my monthly Bulletin since joining but it seems they do very little else to actively promote nudism/naturism.

I just read the petition and I am not really sure what it says. Poorly written. I did not sign.
So, why depend on someone else to write a petition? Lets do it it right here in this forum as a group effort. There are plenty of smart people with enough experience in law and language to do a good job. I am an engineer and a technical writer and am willing to help. How about others?

I like the idea of writing the petition here in our group. Would any of this group be willing to be on a committee to discus then help draft a professional petition?
