| I usually ignore the door. Have a 1"x2" sign by the doorbell stating "This is a Nudist/Clothing Optional home. Do not bother knocking if you do not wish to be offended". Having a posted warning at your door is accepted and most police departments will leave you alone if anyone should make a complaint. | |

| I work at home and have a pair of shorts on chair next to me all the time. I do get caught on the wrong side of the house on occasion when the cleaning ladies come because they just walk in and I never know when they're going to be here. They're from Brazil though so I don't think they care much. I ship out of my house so UPS and FedEx are here every day. Knowing that reminds me to have the shorts ready. | |

| So Cal weather allows me to just have shorts by the front door. The office is in the front of the house and allows me to see who's coming to the front door. Nudist friends....I answer naked. Non nudist friends....shorts. Sales people....don't answer. I have recently answered the door to the UPS man naked and behind the door. He asked for my name, handed me the small package and off he went. Winter time.....flannel shirt, shorts or a light robe....almost always barefoot. | |

| Let me share a funny (but sad) story about knocks on the door. I am a nudist, I live it, I am it. I am nude at home... ok you get the picture. Some time back I was living in a fairly good size apartment complex. Because I am nude at home, I wanted to be courteous to anyone who should knock my door (pizza delivery, etc.) and needed to see me at the door or come in. On the advice of some posts on some websites about this subject, I posted a very nice tastefull framed notice (like Gordontobare stated earlier) on the front of my door that essentially read "This is a Nudist/Clothing Optional home. Do not bother knocking if you do not wish to be offended". He obviously read what I read sometime back. I no sooner posted that notice and I had every young buck in the complex knocking on my door wanting have sex with the naked lady because that is what she was advertising. Huh? Now who were the idiots and pervs in this scenario. Needless to say I took down the notice and told the apt. manager (she knew I was a nudist) that if they kept it up I was going to report them to her and/or the police. I even had to tell one fellow that I would tell his wife if he didn't stop knocking on my door. Unfortunately this is the stupidity we nudists have to deal with. I would not recommend that you put a notice on your door, no matter what you may read or hear about being courteous or law considerate. Been there, done that. Have a robe or shorts handy... it's much easier. | |
| I live in the Midwest so it depends on the season.... sweatpants or shorts are always handy. The kids just split to their room!! | |
| I've had bad luck with the towel - if I'm taking a package or pizza or anything requiring both hands the towel falls. Not all the time but enough that a robe or shorts is a safer choice. Also the maid has shown up and walked in on me sunning on my deck and not had any issues. She said "its your house - what do I care" I love her. | |

| I like to keep some shorts hanging by the door, its easy to put on fast. but it reminds me of the oops moment I had a while back. I was cleaning the house and listen to music, so I was really zoning out at the time. The door bell rang and I quickly went to open it. I opened the door and it was the mail lady dropping of a package for something my wife ordered. I took the package and even commented on how nice the day was. She commented back and just smiled and told me to have a great afternoon. While i closed the door and turned to walk towards the kitchen I noticed my shorts on the chair. needless to say I had an OMG moment. I laughed and so did my wife when she got home. The next day I made a point to talk to the mail lady ( with my shorts on )she just laughed and told me her best friend is a nudist. So it wasnt a big deal but we laugh about it when I run in to her. Im sure everyone has had an oops momment at some point. | |

| It depends on whether I know the person or not. If it's someone I know, who also knows I'm a nudist, then I don't put on anything to answer the door. If I don't know them, then I put on either a robe or a pair of shorts. | |
| I have a sliding panel in my door, so can see out. I know the person and they know I am a nudist, I don't get dressed. Otherwise I have a pair of shorts by the door. | |
| I usually have a long shirt or pareo (sarong) near where I'm sitting/working inside that I can grab if someone walks into our backyard (we don't use the front door) or knocks on the back door. Our UPS drive has caught me several times soaking in our hot tub. | |
| Yesterday....nothing! The FedEx guy came to the door but I was working in the backyard. I left a note for him to call over the wall at the side yard if I didn't answer the door bell. He did call out to me. I went over to the wall, where I had been working in the nude, and stood up on a stool. He had no idea I was nude but...it was great just the same. I thought it was also great that I didn't have to run and put something on and run to the front door for a 10 second transaction. | |
| I have a pair of elastic-waist shorts near the door when nude at home. BUT, my question is: 'Why do we nudist have to cover ourselves in our home, even at the doorway? Aren't I still in my house? So, I just might offend someone! Are we Nudists immune to being offended? What if I invited them in and then removed my clothing. What has happened to MY freedom? | I think I've solved my dilemma of what to post on my apartment door. I just made it positive-sounding, so instead of "Attention! Clothing-Optional Resident", I made it to read "Welcome. Clothing-Optional Residence" So that also gives the person an opportunity to decide either stand outside, come in while I'm in a towel, or they are welcome to come in and be nude also. I wished I thought of this wording earlier. And it should go over better (!!!) with landlord. | |

| When it is cold, I have a grey flannel-like, monk's robe I wear. When it is warmer, I have a lighter-weight, blue one I wear. Just shortly after we moved into these apartments, one of the women (out of 60 apartments and 61 residents, there are only 8 men, my wife and I are the only couple) knocked on our door. I answered it in my grey robe. She looked me up and down, took a step back, put her hand over her mouth, and said "Oh my!" John | |

| I just grab a towel or slip on a pair of shorts to answer the door. As for windows I keep blinds open but don't make a point of facing the neighbors. At my previous house or current apartment I never received a complaint. When I was in a house I'd put on the towel wrap to go out front, garden or talk with neighbors. Backyard gardening and sunning I had the wrap handy if neighbors/friends dropped over. | |

Any one who knows me just rings the phone before coming. | I have answered the door naked since I was 19. I will not do it to a minor child, and once I explain to the person that I am a nudist, then all is well. In all of the time I have done this, only about 4 or 5 people have asked me to put something on. I'll grab a pair of briefs, and that seems to satisfy their sense of textile-ness. | |

| Since I've posted above I've moved my sign "Nudist Inside"(on my door it kept being blown off) to my window, I've answered the door with a towel, once I was in the nude but stayed behind the door. I think the folks on my floor have seen the sign (including the ones who attend my church, which never occurred to me!). | I do have 'disclaimer' signs on the fence, and doors. "This property is Clothing Optional. Feel free to wear as little as you desire. Welcome!" When someone comes to the door, they are greeted with a friendly smile. If my visitor is uncomfortable with my nudity, I will put smallclothes on, if they ask. | |
| If my wife were okay with it I'd post disclaimers and answr the door nude myself. Perhaps if she ever decides to go nude around the house and outside I'll be able to live totally clothes free at home, including answering the door and hosting visitors. Jim | |

| I'm not too sure. In the past she told me she wasn't turned on by seeing me nude all the time. I gues she thought I was trying to push her toward sexual intimacy but since has realized I'm not but simply enjoy being nude when possible. | A few years ago, I bought this pair of shorts. Mesh shorts, short like the ol' Dolphin shorts of years and years passed. They came with a g-string sort of liner. I cut that out and wear those all the time, daytime and sometimes at night to go to the mailbox. I usually wait, like now (11:30p) to take the trash cans out so I can do it nude. I wear these shorts all the time to move my cars around during the day. I do some work out front in them and my neighbors still wave and smile at me so they must not care. You can't really tell or see anything unless you get up close. The only thing they MAY raise an eyebrow to is that they are so short and outta style for the types of shorts that are worn today...but I like them! LOL I now wear these all the time to answer the door. NO complaints yet! | |
| Sounds great, FireProf. Earlier this year I helped my next door neighbor put a roof on his shed while dressed only in a pair of unlined, wide-legged shorts (more like underwear). He never said a word but my wife brought me a t-shirt when she saw how I was dressed. To her, the shorts are intended only as at-home loungewear. The same neighbor came over one evening after I'd returned from running errands and was standing in only my unbuttoned shirt which didn't quite reach the bottom of my butt as I was standing with my back toward the open garage door. I only heard him say "Oops" and walk back to his house. I just slipped on my shorts and walked over. Nothing was ever said. And, I'm sure he's seen me nude in the backyard or side yard, particularly when I was just inside the gate which has a security screen over it but still lets one see through. Again, nothing's been said by him. He lives alone but is visited by his adult daughter occasionally and his mother awhile back. Of course I still go nude in my yard. Jim | |

| I have a sign also. The people who know me come over they go to the back door cause i have a privacy fence and I just answer the door naked. I go out back naked all the time cause no one can see me. As of the front door I have a shirt and shorts I put on. With the sign though I don't get strangers knocking on the door. | |

| Rollercoaster, one of my neighbors told me last week how much he enjoys walking about the house nude and into the backyard as well as swimming nude when his daughter isn't at home. He said she even complains if she sees him in his speedo. According to what my daughter told me today my wife has decided it'll be okay for me to go to nudist events as long as I stayed properly attired in and around the house. Of course,I've not confirmed it with my wife as yet after she totally went berserk on Friday. Hopefully, she and I will be able to come to a clear understanding. Apparently, she's hoping by "allowing' me to hang out with other nudists she believes I'll get it out of my system and come to my senses. She still hasn't accepted the fact I am a nudist and always will be. Hopefully we can compromise so I can get my free time while keeping her happy. Jim | |
| Jim, it is very difficult to live with non-nudists. Especially since nudism is a belief system; a belief that natural is normal and clothing is just extra equipment like any other tool. My parents get extremely upset when any skin is showing. I think you have to judge the situation and how much to push the issue. I don't tell my parents anything about naturism in any way. However, with my significant other I stand firm that naturism is fundamental to my beliefs and I'm going to practice as much as possible. She is not a nudist, but is still with me. | |
| Thanks Rollercoaster. It's possible my ife and I can reach a compromise. Our daughter told me he and her mom talked yesterday, saying my wife will be okay with me going to social functions as long as I don't cme home telling her about it. It seems my wife somehow believes I'll "grow out of it" if she gives e enough freedom to enjoy it out of her sight. She's agreed it's okay for me to sleep nude and to go nude, behind closed doors, in our bedroom anytime. But, she expects me to be properly clothed (no shirt is okay) around the rest of the house and outside in the yard. It seems a primary concern is I not be viewed by children. Jim | |

| The front door on our home in Naples, Florida, was of solid wood, but for esthetic reasons we had it replaced with a beautiful wrought-iron door that is practically all glass. I live nude 24/7/52 with my wife Suzanne, so I never wear any clothes when I'm home. I don a pair of shorts or at least a towel whenever anyone rings the doorbell, so that I'm not naked when I open the door. But anyone outside can clearly see me in the nude through the closed door as I'm putting something on while walking to the door, which tends to defeat the purpose of getting dressed. No visitor has ever mentioned what he or she might have seen before the door was opened, so all's well in Naples, Florida. | |

| Since my last post ... I've "technically" answered the door nude but I kept from my stomach to my feet behind the door. Once each for UPS and FedEx for deliveries needing a signature and once for pizza. I thought I had those mesh shorts up here in the front office but they were way back in the master bedroom so ... I just answered the door, handed him the money, he handed me the pizza's and said ..."hey ... thanks for the tip!!" I'm sure many a pizza guy is greeted by some not completely dressed. But I made sure with each one that I was covered beind the door. :) I just make sure my mesh shorts are up here or I tell them ... hold on and go get them. It was too stressful making sure I was behind the door. LOL | |

| Like Fireprof I have answered to the door naked to Fedex, well naked from behind the door. This was because it was summer and hot in my apartment and I had the front door slightly open, so I couldnt really go past the door to get to the stairs, so I thought what the hell he's seen a naked man before and just stood with my bottom half just behind the door and took the parcel from him. The guy was fine with it and it felt pretty casual. | |

| These days I get nearly no visitors. So I don't have to worry about covering up. If someone did ring the doorbell, I'd just pull my gym pants out of my gym bag to check the door. With no rush. Back in my home-nudist married days, we went through a process of trial and error. If we were both nude and someone rang the door, we'd go through this process where we'd dash though the house to get to the bedroom, to find something to put on. It was a bit ridiculous. Then we started leaving clothes on the couch by the door. But invariably those clothes would end up in a stack on the floor. So I finally went out and bought a small clothes rack, and put it against the wall next to the door. On it went a bathrobe, a pair of shorts and a long t-shirt. Then, answering the door finally became a stress-free experience. We could just walk up to the door, check who was standing outside, and just grab an item of clothing from the rack. Obviously, if it was a nudity-friendly friend or relative, we'd just use this simple trick: stay nude behind the door, and open while walking backyards, staying behind the door. That way we didn't have to worry about being seen nude from the street. And if we had an unexpected guest, and one of us checked the door while the other was nude, we'd just say out loud the name of the person, like: "Oh hi "such and such"; hold on just a second!" And that was the cue for the other person to get up and go to the bedroom to pull some clothes. I think we coordinated it pretty well! | |
| My wife or one of the kids answer the door. if I'm alone I'll partially open the door to peek out some friends and neighbors who know my preference are ok with me ocoming to the door nude and will come on in. | |
| I work from home so I am nude pretty much all day. Any and all of of our friends and family members know that I am a nudist and usually nude. If I don't keep the door locked they just walk on inside. Which to me is just asking for trouble anyways. My office is in my garage and I am usually listening to music while I work, so very rarely do I hear the door anyways. Anyone of importance knows how to call or text me. To answer the question, I keep a robe in my garage with me hanging over the back of my chair. This is also particularly helpful in the evenings, as I sometimes work late. I keep the garage door locked so people have to knock to get out here too. | |
| We are far from "home nudists" but I had this situation the other night and thought I'd share. My wife was in the shower and I was naked at the computer when the door bell rang. I slipped on a baseball jersey and answered the door with my bottom half hidden behind the door. Two young people came to the door for Kerby Vaccum Cleaners. The went on and on and I was being polite and told them repeatedly that we were not interested. They persisted and I finally told them ... "look, we are nudists. We don't wear clothes inside. In fact, I've only put this shirt on to answer the door." After I said that ... I saw the young woman look at the door as though she was trying to look through it! He kinda took a step back but then they said ... "well, we'd still like to show you what the vaccum can do." I said, "we are not getting dressed." They looked at each other and the young woman said ... "maybe next time." They both held out their hands to shake mine and she said ... "ya know, you've been the nicest person we've talked to all night. Thanks for being nice." I guess I wasn't nice enough for them to come in and show me the vaccum. hehehe Not sure what I would have done if they said ... "that's okay, we good with that." :D | |
