Caliber Corner
| Caliber Corner is the thread for the discussion of all of the various types of ammunition out there. If you have a question about the merits of a particular brand/type of ammo, this is the place to post it. | |
| I found a site listing multiple brands including some surprising cheap ones. I imagine the cheaper brands aren't the best quality, but might do for some target practice: ammoseek.com I found the link on Andrew Napolitano?s Freedom Watch (a great man and great site, if you cherish freedom, in general, as I do) | |
| I like .45ACP, 30-06, and 7.62mm NATO. Just because. | |
| beach_bum. Those are my favorite ones as well. Except you forgot the .50 BMG. | |
| I carry a Sig P239 loaded with S&B hollow points For plinking I shoot 223 - either Winchester, Federal or S&B | |
| Saw a article in a gun magazine (in German) on a M16 in .410ga I use and carry a Glock M22 .40cal. At home both Glock and M43 Firestar 9mm are loaded with 65gr Buckshot loads. | |
| I like the glock 40cal, 500 S/W, 45 cal, I like to many..lol | |
My carry Sig 239 9mm Hornady Critical Defense, for my carry S&W 642 38spcl Hornady 125gr XTP. For target shooting I have been shooting Sellier and Bellot or CCI Blazer FMJ. For the AR15 I have been shooting Sellier and Bellot 223. | |
| Another caliber I like is the .308. It's the caliber I used to shoot when I had a H&K G3A3. | |
| i carry a PA-63 in 9mm short (380). This is a Hungarian clone of the Walther PP. For hunting in Vermont I like my Rossi M92 in 454 Casull, which I have handloaded to the equivalent of a 45-70 Gov. I have had OAL problens with the 395gr lead gas checked bullets. The most dificult for me to reload is the 45ACP rAY | |
| 9mm Speer Gold Dot. The bullet expands perfectly every time without shattering. The 124 gr +P seems to be the sweet spot weight in my Glock 19 with a bit of a pressure boost. For rifles I just shoot 55 gr .223 FMJ at targets. When the zombie hordes come it will have to do for defense. | |
| I've always had a question and the seems to be the place to ask it... Why do people buy weapons in so many different calibers? I've talked to people that have a 380, a 9mm , a 40 and a 45 handgun. Their rifles range from 223, to 308, 30.06 and one friend even has a 50 cal. It seems to me, when the zombie hoards attack the ol' ranch or the "anti-gun nuts" start to tax the hell out of ammo, wouldn't you want one or two standardized rounds? For example, a Bretta 92F in 9mm and for the sake of argument ....an UZI or MP5. Isn't it easier to have one or two main rounds, rather than trying to stock and store five or six? What are the pros and cons? | |
| I am one of those guys that has gun's in multiple calibers, .22lr, .380, .38spc, 9mm, etc. Some I have just because I have had them from years past, shoot them rarely and only keep a minimum amount of ammo on hand. Others like my .22lr, 9mm and .233 I try to keep ammo in bulk. Unless a Federal tax comes into being I am not too worried about any Missouri tax. Gun's & Ammo just ranked Mo as the 9th Best States for Gun Owners in 2013. | |
| A while back I was looking at a reloading book and Cartridges of the World. They started me thinking, a dangerous thing at best, about the age of the cartridge. I have several (many?) different calibers. I did a quick count and realized that about 2/3 of the cartridges I shoot are over a hundred years old. If it ain't broke ... |
