I get that acceptance is key, however, for my health more than looks, I am working on losing weight and increasing my exercise. So far have lost 40 pounds and feeling great! One thing I am doing to motivate myself and to really see the results is having fine art nude photos about every 2 months to document my progress. They have made me feel beautiful from the start which has prompted lots of attitude changes in other areas as well.

What are other folks doing to get and stay healthy?

Surprised this is a quiet group, as these days alot of people are looking at their health and weight issues.
I've set myself this fall and winter to lose some weight and get rid of a belly which has crept up on me over the decades. At 50 that's not a easy task, but I'm cutting alot from my diet and watching calories, plus working out (walks and stepper). My goal is to do the Bare Buns Run at the Kaniksu Ranch next year. That's a tall order as I can barely run 5 feet without dying. But it's a worthy goal to work for, I'd be excited to be able to be in shape and run (or walk) nude with other fellow nude athletes. We'll see!

First off, Thanks for allowing me to join this group.
Second, BooBare Great job! I love the idea of doing the photos.
Third, My wife joined Weight Watchers last January, and has been walking alot with diet changes, which we as a family are doing as well. She has lost 50lbs so far, and I and have lost about 15-20 since I started walking with her during the summer. We are really stopping second helpings and just trying to make BETTER choices. Yes I too need to loose about 20 more lbs. I know I would feel/look better.

This is a very quite group--lol---I guess most of us just manage our "getting healthy" in private. Summer is fast upon us. What are you guys doing to lose the winter gain? I actually tried tofu today--not bad! Also, have reinforced to myself that gym time is not wasted time! The group classes just don't work for me but the midnight silence at the gym does. Time to focus on me and not whats going on around me---LOL. Feedback would be great--what are you doing for you that is working?

Lost about 5lbs in the past 3 weeks, I'd like to lose another 20. My wife and I were both down to good healthy BMI's 2 years ago, but we had some really stressful times and got into bad eating / exercise habits. We're walking as much as possible and cutting out certain foods and cutting back portion sizes on others. I try to get out for a jog or some other high intensity exercise in the morning 4x a week. Incorporating some weights is good too, muscle mass is good for the metabolism. :)

Hi, I'm Jim of Las Vegas,

I just learned I've been approved to join this group, thanks Brian. I hope to glean some really great information from here.

I'm overweight and out of shape (see my photo for evidence) with a serious sweetooth and too much diet soda as culprits, along with inactivity. I hope to find inspiration here to help kick my butt into gear to shape up.

I'm new to nudism, having decided just last summer to live as a nudist full-time as much as possible.

Not for vanity, but I'd sure like to look more fit and healthy without clothing than I currently do.

Additionally, I've just learned within the last couple of weeks a female coworker who is very fit and looks great is also interested in nudism. So, maybe she'll also be able to motivate me to get serious about shaping up.

I know I can do so since while in the Phillippines and while stationed near Riverside, CA, in the early 90s my wife got me started exercising with her, eventually running (well, jogging actually) about 4 miles per day. I actually dropped about 20 - 30 pounds (now I'll have to drop about 50) to a weight of about 160, felt good, looked good, and had great energy, leading to a great sex life as well as all other aspects of living. I would love to regain the energy and enthusiasm we both had back then.

My wife, whose not been active either, recently pointedly told me I'm too fat but won't listen to her while I would listen to "a young chick" if told by one I'm too fat. I disagree and need to prove my wife wrong. How do I get started again to shape up and get back more energy and enthusiasm for life?

Hi--I think inactivity is one the biggest problems we face during the winter months. But, spring is FINALLY upon us and we can now get out -enjoy some sunshine--Vitamins D is awesome (heart and bones)--added benefit is that you get more of it if we are nude. The group "Weight Training and Fitness" has a few good threads to read for ways to help get in shape. Congradulations, on the decision to take care of yourself and to others who struggle with this issue--its tough but you have to care about yourself and your body--we were only given one and replacement parts are not easy! To another posting-- 5 pounds is awesome dude! Way to go--I think it must help that your wife is also working towards a healthy goal with you---FANTASTIC! Smiles!

Dream2010, thanks for the suggestion about the weight training and fitness group. I have read posts there in the past. Guess I'll have to take another look.

After a very sedentary Winter I was a bit out of shape. I am always a big person but usually stay more active. I am enjoying the water aerobics, biking & swimming now that I am visiting warm & Sunny Florida. The activity as well as cooking nice healthy meals is paying off.

That's something I found since I moved to Florida...I tend to get out of my "winter slug" phase a lot earlier in the year. :)

Maybe this group won't be so quiet now. There was quite a bit of discussion on the net a week or so ago about a story saying that positive body image leads to weight loss. It may seem that people with weight problems have poor body images, once that hurdle is passed, people start to see improvements. I know that the more I'm able to practice social nudism at my favorite hot springs, in the company of non-judgmental naturists, I come home with a better attitude, eat better and exercise more.

I have started working on riding my bike to get some very good exercise. I am did 14 miles today and feel good so far. I have lost about 11 pounds so far. I am not eating as much either so that is helping me lose the gut and the love handles which is what I want to do. Any other thoughts of how I can get more fat off and not lose muscle then I am all ears.

I bought myself a gym membership and I go to work out in the pool 2-3 times a week. I have found that doing core exercises in the water are much easier on a bad back and knee than working out on machines. I also walk laps in the pool, moving backwards and forwards for 30 minutes of each session, which has help to strengthen and stabilize the bad knee. I am now getting psyched to start using the rowing machine in the gym itself, as that is really a non-impact full body exercise. Between the activity and paying attention to my food, as well as a job where I walk 4 hours every weeknight...I have dropped 19 lbs. and 2 pants sizes since January 28th. Now it is time to increase the activity as I really need to shed 50 more...

Hello all,
Thank you for adding me to your group. I am 55 and my metabolism has slowed down. I also have spastic cerbral palsy which makes it imparative that I exercise to ease stiffness in my muscles and joint. Exercise will also help me maintain a healthy weight. My problem is motivation. I sometimes let other stuff get in the way of exercising and eating right. Reading the posts from other members on this board I think will help me stay motivated and on track.
