Hi Group. I joined this group because I DON'T know how to play chess! BUT I have always wanted to. Is anyone in the NJ area that might be willing to give me lessons? If not, any ideas or experience with learning from videos??? Appreciate all the help I can get...thanks in advance...Michael

I agree the best way to learn is by playing actual people - the books can teach the basics. Also you could get use computer chess program.

If you want to use a computer chess program, I think that Chessmaster is the best for beginners. It has a tutorial, as well as a wide range of computer opponents from newbie on up.
