Looking for New Testament Scriptures
| Can some one give me scriptures in the NT if any about nudism. I know there are those in the OT. | |
| I'll have to look to get the exact chapter/verse but I recall where the disciples were fishing. Jesus came to them walking on the sea - it mentions one of the disciples - I can't think who - was naked and when he saw Jesus he put his raiment on. Also when Jesus washed the disciples feet it says he took off his clothes and girded himself with a towel. It does not actually mention Jesus was naked but to me that's what it means. I'll try to get the chapter/verse for these later tonight. | |
| Well I don't know exactly what you are asking for, but the big ones in the debate about nudism in the new testament offer consist of Paul's command for modest dress and Peter's echo of that command- the first found in 1 Timothy 2:8-12, and the second found in 1 Peter 3:1-5 (If you look at the actual Greek words for Peter's, it's slightly more interesting). There is also the interesting note in Revelation that mentions that the clothing the bride is wearing is symbolic and stands for the righteous acts of the saints- Revelation 19:6-8,14, and also the other mention that the robes the saints were wearing were robes that they already owned before getting into heaven, but that they made the robes white in the Blood of the Lamb- Revelation 7:9-14. And while not directly mentioning clothing, I think Mark 7:14-23 is important to note, because I believe in it Jesus is partially saying that no "sensory input" (what is seen, heard, felt, smelt, etc) inherently has the power to corrupt someone, but that it is the way the person reacts and deals with what they are seeing that makes it sin. In the passage, Jesus says it is what comes out of a person that is sin, not what goes in. And the example of rape could be used- no person with a head on their shoulders would say a legitimate rape victim was an adulterer, and yet sexual intercourse had taken place. While on the other hand, if a female went to a male to have sexual intercourse with him, then it becomes adultery. And that relates to nudism in the fact that God made the body beautiful and glorious, and that it is what is done with the viewing of the body that makes it sin or not; and so saying that people can't view the body like Adam and Eve would have before the fall is merely catering to saying they are still helpless sinners bound to their "fallen natures," even though God says we are a new creation when we get saved. I believe I posted by exhaustive biblical research on nudism in another thread on here. It covers old and new testament, though it is by topic rather than by book. But it should have pretty much every Scripture in there on nudism, and if it doesn't, I would love to find out to be able to put it in there later. :) | |
| John chapter 21 is where the story of the deciples fishing. They were fishing naked and when they went to Jesus they put on a garment. They were nude sense there clothes were for land use (no swim sute).. The reference In Timothy has to do with excessibe jewry that they should not flont there welth. That is also why woman were to cover ther head in church to cover the trinkits in there hair. | |
