Can anyone tell me where this icon is located? In what church and in what country is it found? Have you ever seen any other nude representation of Christ crucified? I have heard of a fellow in New York I believe who chose chocolate as his medium to represent the crucifixion. I also understand that he was not allowed to publicly show his art work.

Historical accuracy indicates that nude is the actual way Jesus met His death on the cross. It was the last great insult the Roman's could impose on a person condemed to die this way.

I checked out some info on the question of the origen of the icon used by this site. Turns out that in 1494, Michaelangelo produced this art work that now is in the Santo Spirito Church in Florance, Italy.
There have been several attempts to replicate this art work by more modern artist with different adgendas often depicting females in the place of Christ. Their adgendas seem to be more of a woman in bondage then that of a spiritual suffering Christ. There work lacks the inspiration of the original and thus is not worth further mention.

As a new Christian I once asked a pastor friend this question. "How personal was the crucifixion of Jesus?" "Did he die for the sins of all mankind?"

This was that pastors answer, "No, Jesus did not die for the sins of all mankind. He died, as John 3:16 states, for the "who so ever" that believed in him.

He went on to state that, as for how personal his crucifixion was, "If I would have been the only person around, Jesus would have gladly died for MY sins alone because of my belief in him."

Dear readers, do not grieve for the death of Jesus on his cross. He was born to die that men might live. Without his sacrifice we would all, every one of us, be on the road to hell with no way off of that road. He, and he alone, is able to save all that would follow after him. So grieve not but rejoice in his sacrifice because by it we are assured of our salvation in his shed blood. Jetman
