What/When was your "Nudist Click" moment when you accepted nudity and the desire to live nude as part of your life?

For me it was after reading a document on line entitled 205 Arguments in Support of Naturalism
It aproached the subject from many directions. At the time it was a freee document I now see that they are charging for this If I find a tree source I'll edit this comment.

I was working on the John Deere in the dog pen, sweating my butt off, when I discovered that I could see nothing but sky and fence. I thought, why not get comfortable and work on it naked? After that, I was hooked. I put up a sign that said nudist zone.

Working in the yard last year, digging it up, I began to shed my shorts until I eventually decided to not even put them on anymore. I came inside one day, showered and just decided not to get dressed afterward. Have not been the same since. I love this way of life.

For both of us together...Summer-1973

it would have to be the two weeks I came home on leave and we got married. We spent the entire time in our apartment, naked, and we loved it!

It became a time we both looked forward to when I'd come home on the weekends. We couldn't do it all the time since she was still in So. Cal and I was in Nor. Cal.

Once I was out...it became full time and the cover (clothes) by the door started and has never stopped!

Our only regret was that I should have moved her and our oldest up there my last three years in the Navy and we would have most likely found some places up there to visit naked.

In fact...her favorite nude beach, besides Club Orient, is Bonny Doon, just north of Santa Cruz, CA!

Summer of '75 I had just moved to San Diego, and a work friend asked if I wanted to check out Black's Beach. Once I dropped my suit, and jumped into the Pacific, that proverbial "lightbulb in my head" clicked on and I thought, "this is so natural, this feels so good, this is so right, this is the way it's supposed to be"! Jump ahead to the mid '90's, and after a few month's dating, I revealed my naturist beliefs to my future wife, and convinced her to give it a try at Elysium with me. At the end of a wonderful day, she didn't want to get dressed and said "I can't believe I've never tried this before". We've never looked back since.

I always liked being nude but the magic moment 'Click" was my first visit to Elysium (now closed and long gone) as I was sitting on the gentle slopping lawn late afternoon. It was so peaceful and natural, so removed from the madness and demands of the world, pure and fresh... that is when I woke up to my place in the world and said yes this is how I want my life to be. Mid 70's I think, it has been so long ago but I still remember the moment as if it were yesterday.

I have always enjoyed being cloths free in my house & often skinny dipped with friends growing up. But I realized that I was a nudist when I started meeting other people in NY at the Mohonk Nature Preserve. I saw a sign while hiking That said" You may encounter nudity beyond this point. It was Winter & so I laughed at the time. I was drawn like a magnet so when the weather became nicer I went back with a friend. She wasn't interested in being cloths free but for me it was that AHah moment. I met other people there & became fast friends with many of them. The Sun & the breeze & dunking in the cold mountain water had me. I began to explore Nude Beaches & Nude locations. At first I only went to natural locations but in the past few years I have included Resorts in my nude recreation. I believe I was alway a Naturist/Nudist but had just never put the label or name to it.

I grew up in a family that frequented nudist clubs and was often nude at home. But as a kid you just go with it. I guess you could say that clothes never clicked for me.

After my first social nude experience 5 months ago. I was thinking "Wow! This is awesome!". I still have that feeling.
I thought I might visit a resort every month or so, but I'm addicted and go as often as I can.
The day that being a nudist "clicked" for me was my first time I was nude infront of people other than my boyfriend. We were invited to visit another on-line nudist chat couple. That perticular weekend they had their 3 children, another couple with a child and a single male, younger than us. We went with another couple we had just met a few days earlier, that were also nudists. It was a nice day and we were having a BBQ in their yard and home. Since I had never done anything like this before I walked around with a huge towel wrapped around me until I got to the hottub. While sitting in the tub I noticed that everyone was sitting around (in the nude) and were visting with everyone, and no one was looking at the new nude person. It finally clicked and I learned to relax, and talked to everyone there to find out more iformation. It was so great. I have never looked back from then.

I got away from any nudist tendencies when I was a teen and didn't really come back to it until my 20's and I was in grad school. It was the early days of the internet (everybody was .edu/.gov/.mil pretty much) and there was a Usenet newsgroup called "rec.nude" that I came across that had trip reports and a FAQ and it reminded me of my days skinny dipping and hiking nude as a kid, and it seemed cool that other people had the same feelings about the naturalness of being clothes-free that I did. I started hiking again and sometimes would get nude for a few minutes or strip off and swim, but it seemed furtive and awkward.

I got married a few years later and my wife was not really positive about nudity or open about things like that so while I continuted to read rec.nude I curtailed my nudist activities. I even stopped sleeping nude to make her happy. (I was young and stupid, I guess)

Fast forward a few more years and I was going through a really painful divorce (predictably) and alone in our home a lot. It felt uncomfortable even being there and one hot summer night I went out to the deck to watch the stars for a while and for some reason I felt like being nude, so I stripped off and just laid there looking up.

I had a really moving experience just watching the stars and feeling the earth turn beneath them and had a sort of epiphany of the small scale of my problems compared to the rest of creation. I instantly felt better.

I started spending more time nude out on the deck, sometimes even out in the daytime, being careful that the neighbors could not see me. I experienced the joy of sitting outside in a thunderstorm and having the cool rain wash over me. I joined the Naturist society. I hiked and skinny-dipped as much as I could. I went to the Eastern Naturist Gathering. I never looked back. :)

I didn't have a 'click moment', grew up skinny dipping, camping and canoeing. After being in the sun and water all day it was just more comfortable to get off your damp, sweaty clothes and be nude.

Growing up I would always take off my cloths when no one else was home. However, I have always been rather underweight and back then would never even dream of taking off my shirt where anyone could see me.
I do not remember the date, it was somewhere in the late 70’s, there was a news story about Black’s Beach. I do recall that it was late August when I decided to drive down to San Diego to see what it was like. This was long before the internet and the only information I had was that Black’s Beach was south from Torrey Pines State Beach.
Well long story short, I found the nude area after a long walk along the beach. I was wearing a shirt, blue jeans (I did not own a pair of shorts, let alone a bathing suit) and tennis shoes. I am glad to say it took me less then a minute after arriving there to be completely nude. I had never felt so free and at the same time so comfortable before.
I knew from that day on that I was a nudist.

I already posted, but I want to elaborate on my "click" moment. I think there was two clicks.
The first was my first social nude experience. I was nervous, took off my clothes in the car, and walked off into the resort.
I'm skinny, but have a gut, so I sucked in my gut. Then I saw nude people of all shapes and sizes. CLICK. I relaxed my gut and realized I can just be myself.
Later on I was walking around the resorts residences. I looked down and realized "I'm naked in a residental area, and no one cares!"
CLICK.
I was hooked. I am a nudist.

I was at a state park lake in my home state of Maine. I had just returned to the public changing building after a swim. The building had no roof so there I sat, naked in the sun and warm summer air. It felt so good and it was very relaxing. I just knew that this was the way it should be. By the way, I was about 10 years old at the time. Jetman

Until my wife died in 2006 I had been little more than a closet nudist. There were a few times when I was nude among others, but usually I was nude only when I was alone or at home with my wife.

Soon after she died I decided to visit a nearby nude club to see what nude recreation was all about. When I got there and got rid of my clothes it was no more than 15 seconds before I realized that I had found the place where I belonged. It wasn't a "click" it was more like getting hit on the head with a two by four.

Anybody else care to share? We have many new members since the last post and I thought it would be good to bring this up to the surface again. Please share, it is always good to hear new experiences...
Even at a young age I remember sleeping nude, as I became older, I would be nude when nobody else was home. I was caught one night when I had to take the trash out before my parents came back. I decided to do it naked and was seen by the neighbor lady, I was very scared I was going to get into trouble because my parents were very religious and strict. But nothing was ever said. Awhile later, early one morning I was told to take something over to her, when I got to the door I could see her cooking breakfast naked. I didn't konck but just watched and realized that I wasn't the only one in this world who enjoyed just being naked. She did turn around and see me but she just waived and left the room and her son answered the door. As I grew older and moved out, I was still nude when I was home and no roomates were around. I went on a road trip on my Harley during/after my divorce, I visted a few resorts. Thats when I realized this is the way it should be, and ever since I have been doing my best to shape my life around being nude.

In my early 20's I finally had the chance to visit Haulover beach for the first time after I had moved to the Miami area. It took a long time to find the courage to go for the first time. The first time I went, I stayed clothed and just checked out the scene to see if I could possibly be comfortable in that setting. I decided to go back and try it nude the next time. The click moment was 10 minutes later, when I realized that nobody around cared at all that I was naked in their presence. Been hooked ever since.

I've been sleeping nude since I was eight years old and my first nude appearance in public was when I was 18 at a state park on senior skip day with a few kids I knew back in high school days. As for as a click, I don't remember any so called "click." I was just disappointed that people wore clothes.

I wasn't raised in a nudist family, but if I happened to see one of my sisters or if they happen to see me nude it wasn't an issue. So even though I didn't spend time intentionally being nude it also was no big deal if it just happened.

About 10 or 15 years ago I happen to see a story on the local news about a nudist camp. The thing that caught my attention was at the end of the story the reporter (a female) made a comment about that after being there for a while she felt as out of place with cloths on as she would being the only nude person in a room full of clothed people. This made me think about the fact that what is normal is really just a matter of perspective. Anyway after this story I started reading more about nudism, but didn't actually think of it as something I had to try.

About a year ago I started walking on the tread mill every morning. I typical wore sweat pants when I was walking. Then one morning the sweats I had on kept wanting to fall off so I thought what the heck I would just finish the exercise without them (nothing else on underneath that morning so was nude). Well it felt so good I just started planning on working out in the nude whenever I can, which is almost every morning. Now I am nude as often as I can be.

So this is my long winded way of saying that I guess my click moment was when my pants fell down.

I think what completely clicked for me was my first visit to a nudist beach, years and years ago, with my first child. Everybody was so natural while naked is I realized nudity the way to go. Although I was a home nudist before that, this experience changed my views and changed me for life. Then resorts visits enforced my belief.

I probably had two primary "click" moments.

The first was on a backpacking trip in California with my mother, aunt & uncle, and cousins. My aunt & uncle skinny dipped - swimming, lying on rocks in the sun. It looked so "right". I was probably 12 at the time and from then on knew that enjoying the outdoors nude was "a good thing". But there seemed to be very few people who shared that opinion.

The second was the first time I visited Playalinda. I walked over the dune down the steps to the beach and saw all the people enjoying the beach without a stitch of clothing and knew I'd found my people. I knew there were lots of other people who enjoyed nudity outdoors.

Like Jasen, I had two "clicks"; the first one was a "nudity click", and the other was a "social nudism click."

The nudity click happened at my parents' house, while they were out of town. I had the house and pool to myself, so I decided to do some "after hours" skinny dipping. As I was swimming nude, I decided I also wanted to try hiking the trail behind the house nude. And that's when I had my "click". It was the kind of "one with the universe" type of feeling. I just went back and forth between skinny-dipping and walking the trail nude into the wee hours. I remember not wanting it to end. Ever!

My social nudism "click" happened during an overnight stay at a resort. It wasn't my first resort trip; but something happened during that particular trip. I'm not the talkative type, but from the time I woke up on day 2 and throughout that day, I interacted with just about everyone I met, volunteering for activities and just chatting with newbies. It was then that my social nudism "click" occurred, and that I realized how much I preferred nude interaction. Again, at the end of the day I didn't want to leave; and that's when I first brought up relocating to a resort to live nude.

I wouldn't call my initial delve into nudism a "click" moment. I had scarlet fever as a child, and felt uncomfortable laying in bed in a nightgown. I took it off and enjoyed the feeling of nothing on my skin, so I continued.

I did have a social nudism "click" when I went to a resort for the first time. After I left, I realized how relaxed I had been, so I made up my mind to go back. I did, and again, I found it relaxing, so now I go back every Saturday.

I have a job that is extremely hot. I come home in the summer just drenched. On one of those days, I just stripped down to cool off. It felt great. Started doing it everyday just to cool down. Just didn't get dressed for the rest of the night. Of course we have slept in the nude for 40 odd years. Then I decided to not get dressed if I did not have anywhere I needed to be. Still was not a click moment, but sure liked it.
After doing some research online, decided I just had to try social nudism. Went to a resort and thats when it clicked! Told my wife about the experience when I came home. She was a little upset. Had to explain to her it was not about sex. She begrudgingly said it was ok if I wanted to, but she will not. So I am nude most of the time at home and go to the resort occaisionaly. Am also starting to get some local friends that enjoy the lifestyle. Wish she would join me, but am very happy she allows me to enjoy nudism.
But the Resort was the Click moment.

First and foremost, thank you for letting me in the group.
Like a lot of people I had two "click" moments. The first occurred when I was seventeen sunbathing in the backyard while everybody was at work in the middle of the day. I decided 'to heck with tan lines!' I stripped my suit off and instantly started to relax and quite nobody noticed; except for the mail lady who whistled as she walked through the yard! Oops! But no big deal.
The second was this year when I finally decided to try social nudism. It was at cedar trails. I stood at my car, stripped off my clothes and looked around. Nobody seemed to notice. I spent the rest if the day riding my bike, swimming, sunbathing and talking with a lot of the 'regulars' who were all very accomodating and friendly. It made that click that made me realize that nude whenever possible was how I want to be.
