I know there are a lot of nationally known beers and wines, but what I am most interested in finding are more local breweries and wineries. I just got back from a camping trip into the Adirondack Mts. and stopped by the Adirondack Pub & Brewery and Adirondack Winery and picked up some of my favorite beverages - and tonight I cracked open the Cabernet Franc from the winery. Its a very good, somewhat dry red wine, and it went great with the Baby Swiss Cheese platter and the Spaghetti and Meatballs

In Masham, just 4 miles down the road from me, There are two breweries that brew excelent beer. They are Black Sheep and Theakston. To me they are local but maybe they don't count as they are known nationally. My favoufate beer is "Towd Tup" from Dent Brewery - a micro brewery in Dentdale up in the nNorth West corner of the Yorkshire Dales.

They used to brew Sierra Pale Ale here in Mariposa. However, due to lack of support they closed down the brewery here. There are a couple of Mirco-Brews here, but my favorite has got to be Moosehead.
It seems the "big name" beers, like Bud, Coors, Miller, give me a headache after one.
I've toured Napa, Paso Robles, and a few other locations, but Butterfly Creek seems to put out good wines at a good price,

We have several micro brews in this southern end of Southern California. There are 3 or 4 four right here in town. All of them have some really great brews and IPA's. They are so off the beaten path ... I needed my SIL to show me where they were!

But ... my favorite "drink" would be Crown Royal on the rocks. But since this is a Beer and Wine enthusiasts group ... I prefer red wine to beer. I have a slight allergy to brewer's yeast. Nothing serious but ... don't feel too comfortable after a few brews.

One of our favorite wineries ... or wine tasting rooms is Naked Winery in Hood River, OR. A really fun place to do some tasting and drinking. Great, fun loving bar tenders and some great apparel. A friend, that lives in WA., gave me a t shirt after he and his wife joined their wine club. It's reads ... "I get Naked regularly!"

I'm a Zin wine drinker, next would be Merlot.
