Younger generation's perception
| I've been involved here for quite sometime and pretty involved in online naturist websites for over a decade. I've had my share of "discussions" with the younger generation of naturists and most times it goes very well. In fact...I've become quite good friends with two young female nudists that I admire, respect and hold dear to my heart for their trust, friendship and constant communication. There are plenty of other younger nudists and younger nudist couples that I feel have a good sense of what "we" veteran nudists deal with, with some of the younger nudists/would be nudists, nowadays. We aren't as active as they are or would like but...some of them understand that they will be in our place someday and have respect for that. Others...on the other hand, have this scued idea of naturism and don't like the fact that the lifestyle is nothing but old, outta shape, lazy people. I get irritated to say the least. Questions about where to find places with "young" people, instead of the usual "old" people places...really get under my skin. I'm always hopeful that these people will mature quickly and get what this lifestyle is all about and it's not about the tight bodies, loud music and the constant activity until 2am! LOL Just trying to get this group talking again and get a sense of what you other veterans think about some of the perceptions of the younger nudists nowadays. | |
| LOL...Sorry for the misspelling of the word...perception. I was trying to type this new thread and chatting at the same time! LOL | |
| I hope that you will post the perspectives of the younger nudists so we can understand to a point why they don't participate as much. Generation gap? Lack of things to do for that age group? Let us know. | |
| I've read many posts by the younger generation and they all seem to be the same; Clubs, resorts only attract old people that just want to sit in the sun and read. There's never anything to do for the younger people. You can't get them to tell you what they want unless they come to the club, talk to people, activities directors, boards, management...and tell them what's missing and what will bring in more young nudists. One thing that really needs to be done is...they gotta stop alienating us because we're older than they are! LOL They have to be willing to communicate with us even though we are as old as their parents and grandparents. We're just people and we're NOT their parents or grandparents! ;) | |
| I've been on the naturist internet for many years now. I've had my experience with different types of nudists ... some good, some not so good. The younger people seem reluctant to get involved because of the attitudes of the older nudists and I'm beginning to see why that is over and over again. Every site seems to have a few older, single male members that are ... "nudist know it alls." It's their way or the highway, and most times ... if you ask a question that's already been discussed ... they berate the new member, call them trolls and then hijack the thread between the few ol' farts and practice their stand up routines ... I got news for them, we've got plenty of comedians and they need to keep their day jobs or live on their pensions. NOW ... I've not run into that, that often, here ... but on another site, there are several that fit this mold and gets tiring reading their rhetoric over and over again. One word or oneliners that are suppose to be funny ... count as a post and the more posts you acquire ... the higher you standing in the site is, for instance; If you acquire X number of posts your go from "newbie" to "nudist." Then the next step may be "Super Nudist" then "Ultra Nudist!" But ... that title means absolutely nothing because some of these people contribute NOTHING to nudism, the advancement of nudism or share any experiences or advice other than belittlement and negative banter. Is it any wonder why younger people don't want to get involved in naturism, internet naturism discussion or have anything to do with the older generation of nudists? FP | |
| We were at the AANR Midwest convention at Turtle Lake and there were plenty of young people there. I'd estimate the average age around 35...at least the day we were there. I wonder how people define the "younger crowd"? Teens? 20's? Less tha 60? IMHO once people get over having to be like their peer group or hanging with the "in crowd" they're more likely to give naturism a try. | |
| It's the mid 20's to mid 30's that seem to be the focus. The later in the 30's the more they seem to begin to get it and us. Our daughter's are in their mid to late 30's and get it and get us. They understand the "relax" mode we like to be in. They understand that there can be a shared space and venue without infringing on someone else's comfort ... or if it is, they are mature enough to take it elsewhere. I wish I could find a way to fix the mistake I made with the title ... I'll have to ask for some help from the Admins/Mods of the site. I think I may get more feedback. I was trying to talk on the phone and post this thread with two thoughts at once ... really screwed up the word perception! LOL ;) |
