Gender Change and Nudist Clubs/Resorts
| Should a person who is going or been through gender change be allowed or accepted at a nudist club or resort? I am relatively sure that many of you have never encountered a person going through gender change, be it female to male or male to female. Many of us have only experienced it from TV programs. From this background, a person going from female to male may have a all the physical characteristics of a male except still have a vagina. Opposite this, a male to female may have female characteristis including full breasts but still have a penis. When encountered in a nudist resort, where everything is on display and especially around the pool where there are kids playing, what should be the appropriate way to deal with it? Please put youself from a club owner and a club member perspective in your response. (FireProf, thanks for interesting gender oriented subject from your Topless Equality post.) | |
| Yes, they should be members! The very first time I went to a club instead of a beach was a real eye popper for me. First I noticed this guy who looked a little strange, normal beard, hair etc, as he walked past ooops some thing missing! No penis, but no breasts, he had a scrotum. When I got home I learned about other male disease's I never knew about; yes you can lose your penis for various reasons. The other person I saw was a traditional TG in transition. She presented as female, acted female, she had small but nice breasts and a penis and scrotum. It was a learning experience for me and I am a bit smarter now. What ever our shape, condition of body parts should not be perquisites there are more important things to worry about. =D~~ Kilted | |
| If someone's genitalia is causing you concern then you are paying too much attention to their genitals in the first place. | |
| Everyone should be welcome except pedophiles, voyeurs, and mean people. | |
| While I have never, to the best of my knowledge, encountered a trans gender person, I am somewhat in sympathy with them. I/we can only try to imagine the emotional pain they must have endured in coming to that decision. No, I really don't think it's right, but I'm not sure I consider it a sin, but even if I did, we are all sinners and I'm in no position to say that someone elses sins are worse than min. God has promised that he would give us the strength and the means/guidance to bear any burden. Well, it's possible that His guidance led to the decision to change gender. We Christians must also remember that Jesus' last commandment to us was to "Love one another as I have loved you". No, we definitely should NOT discriminate against TGs. Having said all that, I can only hope that if I ever do encounter a TG person that my knee jerk reaction will be positive. | |
| I once brought a female to male transgender to go surfing with me at Black's Beach in California. He was a guy who still had girl parts. It was the first time he experimented with the nudist lifestyle and everyone seemed very accepting (or at least kept their discomfort to themselves). I doubt I converted him to the nudist lifestyle permanantly though. | |
| We have not come across something like this,,,,Really don't know which is harder to accept,,,Male to Female to Female to Male,, even though in our past single friendship relations we knew/lived with gay/bi males/females. These are people we should treat with dignity and respect that we expect for ourselves. | |
| I agree, they should be allowed admittance and acceptance. As has been mentioned many times before, part of nudism is body acceptance. All types of bodies. The only reason to ban them would be for misconduct on the grounds. For a resort owner to bar someone due to TG, whether the process is complete or not, would be to open themselves to a discrimination law suit that would do more to harm their business then allowing them on the premises. | |
| Simply...Yes. But...I think most nudists/naturists would have the same reaction, concerns and unfortunate inabilities to accept this at first. You have to understand that nudists/naturists are still pretty "traditional" people. This whole "accepting" thing is or has become so PC that it's difficult to be truly honest within our own community. True, there are some that will speak their minds and be applauded for their "straight forward" approach...but I don't buy that they are always like that and take advantage when they use certain mediums to express that "straight forward" approach. Our society doesn't work with..."straight forward"..."honest/in your face" communication. You won't tell your boss he's an idiot because you value your job and want that next position or promotion. There are tons of these examples... Gender Change adults need to realize that even though we are willing to accept ALL body types, shapes, people of all races, creeds, color, religions, political affiliations...we are still regular people and we still have our flaws, (hangups, are bias, some are stil biggoted, prejudice and just unfriendly)..."internally" as well and these gender change people may not be as welcome as they hope for or as readily as many of us would think. | |
| I was wondering if this topic would gain much traction... and it hasn't. Maybe because we, as a society, cannot grasp the diffence between a person's gender and sex or the difference between gender and sexual orientation. There are serious homophobes in the world and also in the nudist community. The amount of posts on this topic speaks volumes. I have to say, this is the first topic that Gaijin, Armadillo, Billyjoejimbob, FireProf and I are in accord... how strange yet how good that is. I appreciate those of you who have responded courageously and honestly. That is what this group is all about. I would sure like to hear from more of you on this because it is quickly becoming a reality at clubs across the world and you need toget your ducks sorted out about it because you are going to encounter it someday no matter where you live. | |
| What's there to discuss about this topic? Either we, as nudists, accept ALL body types or we don't. Since the body isn't what nudism/naturism is all about, ALL should be accepted; except as Armadillo stated, "pedophiles, voyeurs, and mean people." John | |
| If seeing a transgendered person or intersexed person naked engenders discussion about sex between parents and children, so much the better. Such a discussion can do nothing but help the kids to be better adjusted. That's the way I see it. John | |
| You should treat them like any other nudist. I would say something like, as with all forms of life, there is no standard blueprint, everyone is different, and leave it at that. Kids tend to mimic their parents, and if you freak out, they will too. | |
| Absolutely YES! | |
| Smokey hit the nail squarely on the head. You can' please everybody, you can only please yourself. Live your life as if it were a work of art that you would be proud to sign. John | |
| Smokey, You got it right on so many levels as you always seem to do. Thanks! In the November 2011 issue of AANR's The Bulletin, AANR President Susan Weaver even made a comment about Transgender. She said, " One friend who planned to go through a transgender experience told me he found it easier to talk to me because I was not judgemental". So there it is, as I said in a post earlier, you are going to start hearing and seeing more about gender transitions and I think it and would behoove us all to get onboard with this issue. |
