Helmet Laws: Pro vs Con
| HI and thanks for adding me to the group...i am in Az where it is optional to wear a helment but i see about 50/50 with and without. As for me i have worn mine so long i feel weird if i dont have it on.I think it does help with the bug thing "IF" you have a face sheild or full face helment.again thanks for accepting me to the group! | |
| I'm not fond of the laws that mandate adults to wear helmets. Young riders should be required to wear them, and hopefully it will turn into a good riding habit. I wear one all the time, have been since I started riding in 1969. I learned to ride with one, and it became a habit. I just don't like the concept that a pencil pushing, non-rider can make what should be a personal decision, a law. The same applies to nudity laws, but that is another forum. | |
| I firmly believe in freedom of choice. Spent 26 years as a firefighter/EMT and quickly learned the only difference 'tween wearing a helmet and not was open casket and closed casket. At any reasonable speed, you don't have much chance. The pro-helmet folks depend on emotional BS and not facts to force helmets on the rest (and 99.9% of THEM don't even ride!). | |
| HI everyone, and thank you for allowing me to participate in the group. I've been riding as long as I've been a nudist and vis-versa. Through the years I've made it my given right to support both my rights to be NAKED and the right to NOT wear a helmet. I have a right of choice. Studies have been done on Helmets, but not one will save your life, life as we know it. They can also contribute to the death of an individual, this has been a proven study also. These studies have proven, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Quadriplegia, and Death caused by injuries found at the base of or rear of the skull. You all know about recalls on cars right? I give you this challenge... Google "MOTORCYCLE HELMET RECALLS". These are not "Novelty Helmets". They are "DOT". Do you know who certifies a helmet and places the DOT sticker on it? The Manufacturer! Then the Government Agencies pull a hand full of helmets for testing. Obviously, therefore I don't wear a helmet. I have lived in Calif, Arizona, Nevada and now Washington. I still make it my choice not to wear one. Keep the rubber side down!! |
