LOL... WELL... in the morning, I'll be at the dentist! Then I'll be babysitting our two youngest grandkids for a few hours, then a haircut, then stand in a looonnnngggg line at See's Candy for my wife's 1lb of favorites...

I know we'd like to go out and have dinner but now that she's back to work and gettin' up at Dark:30 am ... she'll be tired so I'll grill us something on the BBQ, then heat the hot tub and pour us some Wine!

Our fav place to go (local winery) for Valentine's Day decided not to have their Valentine's Party. :( So we'll make due at home...at least we can enjoy the time together naked!

We will not be doing anything special, my wife feels it is a made up holiday by a greeting card company. The most I a dare is a card. Took me a few years to learn that.

MoKayaker,

I know what you mean. My wife will be appreciative of the card, which she'll either look at when she gets home from work abour 2:30 AM Valentine's morning or later in the day whn she wakes up. I will be off work, as will she once she gets home early morning, and trying to let her rest until he's ready to get up for the day.

So, really nothing romantic for us. Dinner out, if she wants but that's about it. Hopefully my gift will be to announce we'll be going to Hawaii in April if I can swing it with American Airlines to allow me to use my wrongly purchased and non-refundable ticket to Panama City, Panama versus Panama City, Florida I purchased last October.

I will be avoiding my partner the entire weekend since we are arguing anyway.

We are having a Pre-Valentines Day Dance at Natures Resort (13th) with all the valentines frills since they could not book a band to play here on Valentines Day (kinda dumb but it's the thought), and we are going out to a Elvis impersonator show valentines evening with our nudist friends. Valentines day will start out with Strawberry topped Belgian Waffles, roses, and a couple of Mimosas. Then just enjoy the day until evening with Elvis. Should be fun.
A little romance is always a good thing, no matter when. C'mon guys, step it up.

I think we celebrated valentines day 32 years ago before we were married...

While watching TV last night a commercial came on about Valentines Day, my wife reminded she wanted nothing, not even a card. Told me, like she does every year, spend that money on her for her birthday in April.

Update, we'll be going to dinner with friends from Chicago whom we haven't seen in quite awhile. But, nothing else beyond the card for my wife. And, to let her rest as much as she wishes.

I make sure I tell the Prof that I love her each and every day. Even when we are mad at each other..."I know we are mad at each other but...I still love you!"

Yes...I agree that many of these holiday's are commercialized and are intended for us to spend money...but, even though I know this, I still spend a little extra on my Sweetheart on this holiday...just like all the other holidays. If it makes her feel good and extra special on a particular day...I'm for that.

To each his own...you don't like it, that's okay. You don't celebrate it...that's okay. You don't agree with it...that's okay. But...just cuz some of us do...doesn't make it wrong, dumb or buying into the commercialization of greeting cards, candy...etc. Hell...I hate clothes but I still have to patronize the clothing industry... LOL

We happen to love these types of holidays to do something a bit more special for each other and make the effort to go out and celebrate with each other to escape our extremely busy lives. Should we do that days when there is no holiday...SURE...BUT...life takes over and can be overwhelming, busy, tiring, aggrevating, frustrating, stressful...and if we use a day like Valentine's Day to escape from those everyday troubles to show each other a little extra love and attention...That can't be bad!

I agree Fireprof!!

Wife has to work late, so I got her a card, Will be making dinner for us and our daughter, doing a little decorating too, and some fresh Strawberries, dipping chocolate and wine for the two of us later tonight.

With her work schedule, I had to keep plans flexible....
She thinks we are going out to a local family owned pizza place, I think she will be pleasantly surprised!!
I do things like this ever so often, but I dont think she will expect it tonight.
