My Journey to Social Naturism
| Quick short version... LOL... (it's fairly long!) - at 13 I kept getting tangled in my PJ's so I started sleeping naked. - at 16 I left home & lived with my boyfriend (non-nudist), I started going naked at home. - at 19 (mother of a 1 yo child) started stripping off on beaches in NZ... non-nude beaches... just jumped a couple of farm fences to get to secluded private beaches, with a guy (there were a couple of guys I did this with, but they never stripped of, but didn't mind that I did!). It was around that time, I first ventured (ONLY ONCE) to a nude beach in NZ (New Zealand) called Papamoa Beach, alone when I was 19. I had to walk over the dunes about 50m to get to the beach... I never made it to the beach!!!! I passed 4-5 guys taking matters into their own hands & thought “all nudists were perverted”... then thought, “I must be one too”. I turned & left, having to walk past them all again... it was such a horrible feeling (seeing the guys didn't bother me)... it made me MORE confused about me being naked. ...my thoughts: Was I really a pervert? I didn't feel like one! If I'm a pervert, why does it feel so natural? ... sooo many thoughts racing through my head it was spinning! Later I thought, others will also think I'm perverted, so I never spoke of me being a nudist. (Only a few guys (non-nudists) knew that I liked to romp around the house &/or beaches naked, but only when my daughter was under 5 yo). Since then, I was only nude at home when alone (basically when my daughter was not around). I was a young single mum & was scared, I didn't want my daughter taken from me by child welfare! I was NOT educated about nudism AT ALL... was brought up to hide my body. I first ventured onto the internet in June 2006, located a site with profiles, looking for friendship (non-dating etc)... in one profile it mentioned “naturist”. As my dictionary didn't have a meaning, I went online to Google & found out about naturism/nudism etc. I then ticked the naturist box on that profile & someone mentioned a site called NudistFriends.com. After entering my profile on NudistFriends.com (profile now deleted), I was soon contacted by a Swiss guy living in Queensland, Australia. He said, he didn't believe half the people on the other site were naturist, hence why he hadn't contacted me earlier... he was looking for a “naturist activity partner” due to males not being able to attend a lot of places alone. This suited me perfectly... as it would be safer for myself to be in the company of a male, than go it alone... not to mention, it's great to have company too! After we'd conversed online for approx a month... he invited me to go to Alexandria Bay Beach Carnival in 2007 at Alexandria Bay, Noosa Headlands, Queensland, Australia. Unfortunately I had to decline, as I was unable to drive at that time (for medical reasons). Luckily he understood & a week later he invited me to a nude party in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. He offered to pick me up on his way south (5 hour drive for him, 2 hour drive for me to Byron Bay). We'd be camping in the backyard there. I agreed to go & gave him my address. On the drive down, I explained to him, that I hadn't ever been socially nude before. In fact I had not meet ANY other nudists AT ALL He simply smiled & said... you'll be fine! When we arrived, the lady who greeted us said... you can leave you clothes down here (showing us a room of discarded belongings). We stripped & partied til early morning! I used the mentality... "when in Rome, do as the Romans do!" it worked a treat... as I wasn't nervous, I felt very comfy & natural. It was like other textile parties, only differences were... everyone was naked obviously & everyone was sooo much more relaxed & friendly... funtastic atmosphere! Gone were my thoughts of nudists being perverted, that naturism had nothing to do with sex, simply people who like to be unclothed, enjoying each others company as though textile people do clothed. This is when I realised, I wasn't perverted either!! So I really thank my Swiss-Australian friend for introducing me to the lifestyle the right way! Since then I have become very active in the South East Queensland area (in Australia). Have joined a monthly swim club, go to both my local beaches (both 2 hours drive... 1 north & 1 south) & also frequent 2 small retreats & have visited another 3 times (the owners are all absolutely wonderful... warm & friendly people... very welcoming). Have been to numerous parties both private & at the retreats, sport days (both at retreats & beaches) as well as the beach annual events (have attend 3 thus far). As well as my swim club organising 2 day nude boat cruises annually, over to an Island for picnic lunch & beach sports fun & relaxation!!! There's another cruise VERY soon :-D ----- BTW... it was only 3 months ago, that I told my naturist friends (I made at the first nude party), this story & that when I first meet them it was my FIRST social nudist experience (which was Mar 2007). They said they didn't realise... cos I didn't appear to be nervous & looked at ease. I love naturism... I'd never turn back now !! So basically, I consider myself as a home/beach Nudist for 22 yrs & a social Naturist for 18 months! What's your story?? (Written by Emz, 2 Oct 2008) | |
| Great story Em, thank you for sharing it with us. I see it was written in '08, do you still enjoy nudism when you can? Rusty | |
| Emz, let me add my own praise for your story. I've been a nudist for about two years now but have had very little opportunity to share with others. Jim | |
| Emz: 2 things, your photo collection is amazing as is your story. I started four years ago, late in life. I started a weight loss program with Medifast. During my first session with the Medifast counselor, she asked me what I wanted as a treat when I would reach my goal weight. I had no idea. At the end of the session she asked me again. I spit out that with the weight loss I would be comfortable going to a nudist "ranch." (What did I know?). Three months later I hit my goal. She asked if I had done the nudist "thing." I completely had forgotten, probably on purpose. So I googled San Diego nudist resorts. I called DeAnza Springs and drove out. Five times I almost took the offramps to go back home. When I got there I had a great tour of the grounds. So I go out to the car and then the time came that I had to drop the shorts. Wow!. There was a p/u next to me with a couple and their two kids fully undressed. So maybe I can do this. Just as I dropped my shorts a lady came up behind me, nude and got into her car. I got everything off and walked out to the pool. Within 2 minutes I totally felt comfortable, the sun and breeze was so relaxing. How could I have gone 65 years without ever trying this? Now I'm a member of Glen Eden Sun Club and love it. | |
| Yes I'm living the lifestyle 24/7 now... currently staying on my friends 25 acre property, they a nudist couple. We've got to meet heaps of nudists through each other and our friends come and camp here sometimes... I'm a frequent at my local club and retreat. Peppy (my dog) knows when we're going in the car, cos I put clothes on. BTW... I actively assist in promoting nudism here in any way I can. | |
| Congratulations Emz for living the way I would love to live - nude 24/7, 365 and would if my wife were okay with it. When I first became a nudist and she seemed to tolerate my "eccentricity" (she never used the term herself) I did pretty much go nude 24/7 indoors and out except when forced to dress, such as in the front yard. Then I'd wear minimal clothing. I really only got dressed when we left the house. Jim |
