Dr. Who
The New Season (2012)
| So far I'm loving this season. The second ep. Dinosaur's in space was a real laugh - loved Rory's dad! Kept waiting for Rory to make some comment like "oh, and by the way, I know you didn't really have to do 'X' when you were a child, I was watching you... while waiting 2,000 years for my wife to wake up..." Loved that the Dr. called him a Pond too! | |
| Both episodes quite good. Interesting twist in the first one with the Daleks. The second was also quite fine. Only objection was the killing of the ball chasing stegosaurus. Seems a waste of a good comic character that perhaps could been used in the future. Rory's dad good. Hope he is not over used. It will be interesting to see how the episodes tie together for Amy's departure. | |
| Absolutely! Yeah, poor Steggy.... sadly think Steggy was a victim of "insert high drama here"... Yeah, don't need to introduce to much family "baggage" when they're leaving the show... though there are a few (unfounded?) rumors the Ponds might get a spin-off ala Ms. Sladen... | |
| It will be very difficult for them to top Sarah Jane Smith (and K-9), although they might be entertaining in the short run. They could also reappear periodically as Rose, Martha, and Captain Jack have in the series. One question: Is this the year we finally find out why River Song terrifies the Daleks? | |
| Yes, Sarah Jane is sorely missed! Always my fav companion from the old series... Good question about the Daleks.... wonder if all the Doctor "mythos" being their greatest enemy gets transferred to her? That would be funny! | |
| I just read an article, and it made me think..... They were talking about the lightbulbs in each episode, how they were "blinking" all the time, at Amy's dressing table in ep 1, the light Rory's dad was fixing in ep 2, and all the town lights in ep 3.... Wondering if it does mean something, and if so, what? Like how Moffat always has something going on in the background... Especially because it doesn't always seem so obvious like with Davies. (It's fun to actually have to guess and wonder sometimes!) | |
| So, what did everyone think of this weeks ep? Personally thought it was a bit flat... mostly because it played out almost verbatim to the ghost-people-cum-cybermen, without the cybermen... thought the Dr's adaptation to "hum-drum" life was hysterical though, had some funny moments throughout really... any thoughts? | |
| After the first three episodes, this one was 'blah'. I see from the previews that both the angels and River are back for the Pond's departure episode. While all the loose ends are never tied up, I hope there is some sort of finality here. | |
| Seconded! It'll be nice to see river again, and so far the Angels are (strangely) becoming a favorite baddie... not on the level of the Daleks or Cybermen, but pretty good! | |
| WOW!! That was a great episode!! An interesting way to tie up the ponds too! Thought the statue of liberty bit (while completely silly) was utterly hysterical!! Also found it amusing that that Rory and Amy apparently lived their entire lives in NY instead of going home... an odd choice for them, but kind of cool! | |
| Good final episode. Interesting subtle tribute to Raymond Chandler, the mystery writer. Melody Malone, an obvious takeoff on Philip Marlowe. One of the villains, Mr. Grayle, same name as husband of femme fatale in "Farewell, My Lovely",collected Chinese porcelain. The original character collected Chinese jade. A few other things, but those I can pick out right away. A good way for the Ponds to leave. I suspect they will appear in the 50th anniversary show. Hopeful it will be a minor role. I suspect there will be a lot of cameos from characters living and dead. Only so much air time in a 75 or 90 minute show. | |
| Wow! You picked up on a lot more than I did! I only caught 2 of those!! It'll certainly be interesting to see how they maneuver everyone so far as guests go for the 50th... | |
| Rory died 3 times in that one eppisode. How many total times has he died now? I've lost count. Still a good closure to the episode though. | |
| LOL, does make you wonder how his contract read "... may be killed at will, but not written out of show until.... " =) |
