Just wondering if among the nude sailing enthusiasts here there are any sailboat racing fans as well.

Ocean racing is what got me interested in sailing in the first place... an unparalleled adventure in the most extreme conditions around the entire planet! (Not saying I'd actually want to make a habit of doing it... I'd rather have a nice yacht to cruise around comfortably on...)

In any case, the Vendée starts in less than a month: http://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/

You did see the part about it being a solo race, right? ;)

I followed the Volvo Ocean Race very closely last year. Amazing racing.

I'm following the Americas Cup, too. But it seems the drama and politics there are overshadowing actual racing.

I crew on a J/30 in a local racing series. No nude racing, though. B^)

I liked the VOR too... but not having any television coverage it kinda' sucked. I simply can't be motivated to spend hours a week sitting in front of YouTube watching 2 minute clips every day.

Mind you, the Vendée is no different.

I like the solo aspect of the challenge though... and no stopovers means there's so much more endurance and self-management, as well as boat management to deal with. I mean, did ANY Volvo boat actually do the complete course without taking days out of it's Leg to fix something?

I have a very good friend who used to crew with various America's Cup Teams. I could never qualify, based on the fact, these people are amazing and I'm lucky if I can get a main set in 30 seconds..lol...Now ,racing CAT's ...that's a lot of physical work.
