 I think it would be one heck of a trip! My preference would be canoe simply because you can carry a bit more in the way of gear and supplies that way.

Don't know how much fun it would be, though. I spent more than a few hours paddling sampans in some of the tropical rivers of Viet Nam and the currents and insects seemed to suck all the fun right out of it. Still glad that I did it, though, so in the end it was worth it.
