I got to thinking the other night that when I reach a very old age, God willing, at some point my kids will probably put me in some kind of retirement home or assisted living facility. I will be forced to wear clothes all the time. Or be tossed out for going nude.
My point is we should start thinking about nudist retirement homes in the future..lol
Any thoughts on this?

I've thought about it a lot as I get older. I have the property to build an assisted living facility for nudists. We can build the single floor individual unit-facility around a pool and other amenities with the front door opening for non-nudist visitors. I do not have the resources to develop it.

I've thought a lot about it ... but then figured ... by the time I need assisted living ... I probably won't know if I'm naked or not.

It's a tough call, when to move from complete independence to needing assisted living help. There are lots of those places around here and some are really nice and you could be nude in your own place but outdoor nudity would not be available. You'd have to be an inside nudist.

Those places are set up like individual detached condos/townhomes, no privacy but ... the staff will look in on you during the day and in the evenings. You'd have to get dressed to go to the dining room.

It's a great concept ... a nudist assisted living facility but not only can't I imagine the cost but having to get the skilled people to man the place and be okay with a bunch of naked old people about.

I'm sure our nudist life will change when we get old enough to need this type of help. We can always look back on how we lived and be grateful that we had that opportunity.

A local nudist group PANDA (Pasco Area Naturist Development Association) had plans to build a nudist retirement home, but I think they gave up.
Why bother? Most nudist clubs are elderly already, just designate one as a retirement home.

Just because someone is older it does not always mean they need assistive living. I live in a Independent living Apartment Building. If I needed other services they can be added at additional charge.

If you go back and re-read what the OP stated ... it was ... "when I reach a very old age ..." I think we all knew what he was getting at and he wasn't lumping many of us in or approaching 60+ yrs of age or older.

I'm fairly certain that the context was in that ... when you're unable to be completely independent of ANY help.

;)
The very elderly nudists could always fall back on others' misperceptions we're somehow crazy and, therfore, use it as the reason for running about nude fulltime. LOL

Losing one's independence, and therefore our freedom, is scary. We will then be at the mercy of others, most of whom will simply not want to see naked, wrinkled, old people.

What would be nice to have, is a list of nudists that have specific skills and training, in this field, that you could contact and hire when the time comes.

I'm certain that there are home care nurses or those skilled in elder home care and are also nudists. If you needed this care, you could contract with this nudist skilled person to assist you and not only could you remain nude but they could work nude as well.

I don't think, as a nudist community, we delve deep enough into our own community to seek those we may need, who are also nudists.

Example: At our club, there is a professional, licensed painter. Had I had the money and the knowledge, I most likely would have hired him to come paint the inside of my home. It gives him work "he" needs to keep his business going and he could paint naked and I don't have to get dressed while he's doing so.

If the nudist community would be willing to compile a list of these professionals, we might be able to have the elder help we need, performed by professional, skilled nudists that would most likely prefer to do their work naked for nudists.

FP, you OFTEN come up with good ideas. "If the nudist community would be willing to compile a list of these professionals..." I think that this one is a GREAT idea. I've been thinking about that a LOT lately with me being 65 and my wife's health not the best and me needing help to get everything done. However, the list could comprise ALL the skills: i.e. your painter "friend."

Wonder if Brian would consider some sort of "area" here on NCH to house such a list?

Fireprof,

Great idea. John, great following the train of thought. Perhaps start a group where people could
list their skills. Landscapers, home health care workers, nurses, housekeepers, dog walkers, etc.

Not only for seniors, but for those in our community who have temporary or permanent health
issues regardless of age. Or those of us who simply need assistance from time to time.

Hey, FP, it was your idea. Why don't you post it to that group Brian has for suggestions and such? Something like the Journal section so that no-one really has to manage it.

now this is one of the best ideas to come out of this site. i know i would be willing to put myself out there, so to speak, to help out where i could.
There is currently a group called Nude Jobs that may be the group. However if you feel this does not meet the needs what your looking for I would be willing to put a request in for such a group. What would you want this group to be called? It's not up to Brian to Create the Group it should come from us.

This should NOT be a group. This is something that should be used throughout the nudist community and NOT just here on NCH.

As the website business, Angie's List, this should be the beginning of a site all it's own or a spin off site ... NOT a group.

I think it should be a spinoff so we don't get charlatans setting up scam sites.

In this way we can monitor the quality and truthfullness of the people who wish to help.
Perhaps a note in the Bulletin and in TNS
Naturally might spark some interest.

"...this should be the beginning of a site all it's own or a spin off site ... NOT a group." Ok, FP you've done it again. Some of the Prof's smarts must have oozed into you as well. lol Do you have any ideas how to do this?
The whole idea of personal assistance is not just for older people who need help in their ADLs (activities of daily living) but this also applies to people with physical disabilities. It was the disability community that came up with the idea of personal assistance then the elderly saw that this applied to them.
I really don’t see Brian as a service provider rather he is a promoter of the nudist lifestyle.
It is very expensive to setup a website for this purpose. How would it be funded?
I see I have miss understood what you were requesting to get started. I am sure after much dialog we can come up with a plan of action. However if a group were setup for this it would be different in the fact posts would not last forever. They would be deleted upon the original poster indicated they had no need for the post to continue on the site.

WE have had threads ... many threads that asked ... "what do you do for a living? What occupation do you have or hold?"

Those threads/topics have been buried in the archives of many a nudist message boards. This is a viable business venture for someone with a little capital to lay out and the computer know how to put it together and manage it. I have neither! hahaha

It will also take "professionals" to put their name and occupation, special skill, and contact information for all of us to see and be willing to patronize. A female member, here, posted something about being a mobile massage therapist and in the general area where I live. I'd love to have her take us on as clients but ... she hasn't logged on in three months, no way to get in touch, except for email and not sure if she's even in the business anymore. But ... I've got business for her if I make contact.

There has to be enough of us willing to use a person's skills and profession for it to be a profitable side job. Many of these people already have full time jobs.

It would take time, effort, money and commitment from those willing to put themselves "out there" on a "nudist Angie's List" type website. Not sure if it's even feasible with so many nudists unwilling to be open about what kind of lifestyle they live.
