Home Nudists Living w/ Roomates and Family
| I pretty much just live with my cat, who's the resident full-time nudist :), but when I was staying with my parents, I was pretty much stuck as a non-practicing nudists. How do you guys negotiate your nudism with other peoople in your house? | |
| I don't - I do my nudity quietly and discreetly at night when everyone else is in bed. | |
| After MUCH debating, we all finally got nude in front of each other. Everyone in the house was a nudist, but was uneasy about the dynamics of revealing themselves in front of eachother. We counted to three, stripped, and that was that. | |

| when i lived with my mum she got to be pretty okay with my nudity. i kept it secret at first but she found me out, but once it was out in the open it was really no big deal. we were all girls together and so long as i followed the house rules she accepted it - it was when i tried to bend them we had rows about it. i also think when my sister got into it too, mum felt a little outnumbered which didnt help. when i moved out i shared a house with some friends and so walking around nude all the time was never really an option. they knew i was a nudist and most of them saw me naked at least once while i lived there but i was always conscious of not rocking the boat or making it into a big thing so i tended to keep my clothes on outside my room. now i have my own place so its my rules haha! | |

| When I offered my last room mate the chance to move in with me, I explained my nudist leanings. He did not share them, but said what I did was my business, not his. The only time he ever said anything about my nudity, it was a joke. He was totally accepting. He did not do it, but he gave me complete support and acceptance. He recently died and I miss him greatly. I came looking for a place like this because I so miss his acceptance. | |
| I usually get my home nude time in when I'm alone. Everyone knows I'm a nudist but may not be comfortable with seeing me nude. I'm not sure how I'd feel about being nude in in the presence of the family. I think that relates to the family dynamcs thing Red mentioned. I'm sure it will happen accidentally someday and it'll work out. | |
| I have a private fenced in area and a semi private back yard where I can sun and jacuzzi nude in private (when the google map people aren't flying overhead). I posted a sign at first, but now, everyone knows that if the sun is shining, I'm naked outdoors. Indoors, boxers or loungewear or just a towel. Although I'm the only one catching rays, everyone enjoys the jacuzzi nude, just not together! | |

| My fam's non-N&N, but informed, familiar & tolerant. Only spouse & youngest 30-yo daughter remain at home these days. Whenever I'm home between field assignments, EVERYONE KNOWS I'm gonna be sans attire 24/7, so if'n yer thinkin about dropping in or stopping by, you'd best be calling ahead. Otherwise, if'n ya come crashin my R&R time uninvited, I'll not be donning false modesty to put ya at ease. | |
| hey all i just got a roomate, i lived with him before. hes a good friend. he knew i was always in my room nude and he was cool about it. Now it's back to that same old life style, but its not all bad over the many years hes known me i have been able to hang out in my underwear in common areas. its not nude but i and comfortable and heating bill isnt sky high. lol | |
| The cats don't mind if I'm nude and the wife sort of tolerates it within limits. My daughter-in-law has a common-sense approach about nudity and it's no big deal to her but even though she's very supportive, she's told me that rather not see me nude. Must be some sort of societal/cultural thing lurking in the background. I dunno. | |
| I have a female house mate who knows that I am a nudist. I can be relaxing whering a kilt but that would have her upset. However she keeps asking me when I am going to the resort. She has even said that I should go there as often as possible. She even has offered to prepare a dish for me to take to a but luck dinner event. | |

| I am spoilled in the fact that I get to work from home 2-3 days a week which is nude of course. Hope we never have to do confence calls with video. Maxx | |
| I work evenings / nights now so most of the time I get to be freely nude at home all day. Lucky me huh? | |
| Well...since it's just my wife and I...and we're both nudists...it's strange if either of us is wearing clothes at home. Family...well...the family nudity is mostly out around the pool in the summer months. Our kids, kids in laws and grandkids aren't nudists but loved their vacation to a nudist beach resort, with us, last summer and want to go again. When they stop over for a visit or dinner...we get dressed so they don't feel too uncomfortable. They often ask us if wearing clothes makes us feel uncomfortable. We tell them that it's not a big deal and that as soon as they drive away from the curb...we get naked! LOL | |
| It's just my husband, two kids (19 months & 5 months) & I living in my house - no complaints w/ nudity in my house :) Will help show my kids there's no reason to be embarassed or scared to be nude. | |
| when i am at my parents' house, i am in shorts and a shirt...even sleeping. when i am at school, i am nude most of the time when in my apartment. when i lived in a residence hall with a shared room, i would remove my boxers under the covers to sleep nude. now that i am in my apartment, i am nude in the privacy of my own room. my roommates (and their girlfriends) have all seen me naked--as a result of wearing tearaway track pants and no boxers the night of a party...i never use the term "nudist" in front of them, but they all know i am usually naked... | |

| I will usually wear as little as possible at home when the family is around (but I sleep in the nude and am usually stripped bare after dinner when I've settled into my room for the night) I slip on a pair of shorts & a shirt when I go outside my room (yes, very inconvenient when all I'm doing is going to the bathroom which is RIGHT NEXT DOOR - but that half-step into the hallway is considered "public"-space & they feel more comfortable if I'm dressed) When I'm home alone (rarely ever happens) or if I'm at a friend's place where nudity is permitted - I prefer to take off as much as I can. | |
| I live with my partner who is okay with my nudism, but her colledge daughter and her older daughter are like "ugh or perv" I have never been able to be nude when they are at home. it gets depressing, but hey they aren't around that much anymore. | |
| I'm a lone home nudist, I'm retired and there's only myself and my wife here now, but she is not a nudist, she accepts me nude around the home but will not join me. Would love it if she would join me, but there is no chance. I'm just thankful that she accepts me as a nudist. | |
| My family knows that I'm a nudist and they joke about from time to time. I live with a sibling with children and they are not nudist. I don't go nude as often unless I go camping. Not many places to go nude in Maine. | |
| I have been a home nudist since I was a teen, usually nude in my room when I was living with my parents, but not in the common areas unless I was alone. After I married I was usually nude as soon as I came home and showered after work. My wife was OK with it then, but became more prudish as time went by. After our kids hit about age 8, she became anti-nudist. I still sunbathe nude on our patio and spend as much time nude as I can such as early morning before the family is awake but she will not go nude outside of the bedroom or bathroom even if the kids are out of the house. She has also demanded that I not educate the kids about nudism or try to introduce them to it in any way. It's hard for me to live this way but I guess I'll carry on as best I can. | |
| I spend most of my home time nude right now...my old room mates moved out and I am here alone except for the cat. Of course, I need a new roomie soon so I am enjoying the freedom while I can...I guess there aren't too many single nudists around here who need an apartment... | |
| since I live at home with a nudist family it isn't a problem; all of us adjust as is necessary when friiends or relatives come over to the degree that they are comfortable; many of them don't mind us being nude but they don't join, others strip down to panties and bra, and some join us. Ultimately it works down to however comfortable the guest is. We usually tell the person who is coming over for the first time ahead of time so they aren't surprised on the first visit. | |
| Maybe a little sideways on the subject since I live in a nudist park in TX during the winter and a nudist park in the summer so I am nude almost all the time, but in this park we have persons from the local area come in to do work on some of the properties. They are not nudists. Many of the residents in our park tend to cover up when the workers are here. I am of the opposite thought, they are in my yard now so I (and they) play by my rules. I am completely nude around them and I don't care. I am not ashamed of it. It is my trueself. When I have to play in their yard I have to play by their rules, right... so there you go. | |
| Family doesn't know about my nudist tendencies/lifestyle even though I try to show them my all over tan! My best friends, (buddies since grammar school) when visiting, let me go nude with out hesitation. Love those guys. When we skype they know I'm nude too but always have on a shirt for them in case one of their family come in their room. Always gotta mind those manners. I'm not an exhibitionist just a nudist. | |
| Only my wife, who's not a nudist, and I at home. So, I'm pretty free to go nude as much as I like. I have been fortunate enough to spend nude time with our daughter, when Mom's not here, including twice when she got nude with me. Jim | |
| I'm always so envious of posts by SunBunny! To live in a nude resort/club would be the icing on the cake for me. With our kids and grandkids onboard with our lifestyle...visits to our home in a nudist environment would NOT be an issue any longer. I'm usually surprised at the amount of clothed nudist residents during warmer days. I guess I can understand their philosophy when outsiders (contractors) are on their property doing work and they feel uncomfortable but...if they ALL took SunBunny's attitude...the contractors would be the ones that were "uncomfortable" with the situation and if they were really that "uncomfortable"...they wouldn't bid on or take the job inside the gates anyway! I think "we" can put too much emphesis on what family and friends will think of us if they find out we are nudists. I've tried to explain this to my wife a few times and she agrees and understands what my arguement is but...will always stop short of just being upfront and honest, at times, with her/our lifestyle and our preference to be naked at home and on vacations. We put ourselves in uncomfortable positions many times by being clothed when family, that is well aware of our nudism, is around or staying with us. Their feelings are that there are certain places they are ok with nudity and it's usually around the pool or if they accompany us to the beach or clubs and resorts but to just be naked around the house isn't something they are comfortable with in our house...maybe in their own..but just not here...for now. | |
| I live with my parents, but their house has a two bedroom in-law suite, which is where I live. I'm lucky in that respect, since my entire end of the house can be locked off from the rest if I want. I have my own entrance to the front walk, and out onto the back deck. Now if only I could setup a private area on the back deck, I'd be set! Sadly the whole back yard opens up to our neighbor's property, and he's pretty nosy. I'm looking forward to the day I can move to a private country estate and be nude 24/7. lol | |
| My mom (and her boyfriend that lives with us) is not a nudist and she doesn't know i am but i wear no clothes in my bedroom and wear no clothes in the house if my mom is out. I wear no clothes in the backyard if nobody is home. | |
| I work at home and so I am always nude. I got tired several years ago of grabbing sweat pants to throw on just to answer the door. I had a sign made stating that a "nudist lives here knock or enter at your own discretion"...everyone knows now whether they come inside or just knock on the door I am nude so there is no surprises for anyone...Rick | |

| I was raised in a nudist comfortable environment, and we would only dress if going outside the home. We would (the children at the time) be asked to put on smallclothes (some people call it underwear, but, since it wasn't 'under' anything...) when guests were present. We traveled to and from the beach naked, donning suits when we got there, shedding them a soon as we got back to the car. My friends know, and new guests are made aware of my nudist environment. Occasionally one will request clothing, and I ask it when there are persons under 18 (unless their parents are also nudists, present and consent). I have actually had friends stop over after I had been shopping and be surprised I had clothes on! Some have never seen me dressed! My grown daughter and son-in-law are also nudists, and don't hesitate to drop their textiles as soon as they arrive. | |

| Hey all, I live w/2 family members. Luckily for me, I work at home, so most of the day, and the late evenings I'm naked all the time. They're family, and they're a bit prudish, so I'm fairly careful not to "flaunt" myself when in the common areas, though I think they're aware I'm naked most of the time, it's never discussed. Maybe not the perfect environment, but it works for me! =) | |
| Hi all, Since my last post on this thread I have taken a different direction at home. I am now nude at home most of the time, and I found that my family is slowly getting used to it. Sometimes pushing the envelope is the only way to bring about change. I am still the only nudist in the house but I don't have to "cover up" anymore just because the kids are home. | |

| The wife and I moved in with her mother to help take care of her, when we first moved in she was only able to get around with a wheelchair. Shortly after we moved in I asked her if she would have any problem with me being nude around the house and she said was ther's nothing she hasn't seen before having so many brothers and sisters. So I usually have nothing on or maybe a t-shirt depending how cool it is in the house. Of my 3 brother and sister-in-laws only one brother-in-law has a problem with the nudity. So when he is over I'll wear some mesh shorts. Now my mother-in-law is now bed redden and we have hospice come in to check her every day except sunday. When they first came on board I asked if they would have any problems with my nudity and they said they woudln't. One of the nurses will even come to the living room for me to come back and help move Mother if she needs help. The sister-in-law from NY will come in for maybe a week or more to help from time to time and give the wife and myself a break to get out and and have some time together. At one time she was a nudist but not anymore, but bacause of her earlier years she has no problem with my nudity and she has been nude a few times. The wife is not a nudist but she said she would go to a resort in the future with me I hope she will have a good time if and when we go. | |

| Today my mother-in-law and I were talking in her room and she had to ask if she would be considered a nudist since she can only were a short loose t-shirt no pants or underwear and I told her of course she could be. She would never have thought of me being there seeing her nude all the time to clean her up or change her shirt when she spills somethings. She said her mother would turn over in her grave and I told her you never know for people were so secretive about things like this back then. | |
| For a short time, when my wife was very young, her grandmother, father's mother, stayed with them for a while. My mother in law would always tell stories about how her mother in law hated her and so on. When she was on one of these kicks ... she also retell the story of how her mother in law would get up in the morning ... naked, and walk to the bathroom, then put on a robe and have breakfast and then dress, minimally for the day, only to strip naked and take a nap in their living room. During these naked naps ... my wife and her brother and sisters were told to go out and play and they weren't allowed back in til dinner time when their grandmother put clothes back on again. My wife said that they didn't care because, when their grandmother did this... their mother left them alone to play outside and that's where they wanted to be! hahahaha Wish I had met this woman but she died long before the Prof and I started dating. Her grandmother on her mother's side ... a meek and mousie woman that was dressed for winter in the dead of summer! :D | |
| I always find it fascinating that people in general are more comfortable being nude in front of a stranger than someone they know. One of the big obstacles for people joining a local nudist group is, "what if I run into someone I know?" Maybe its because the risk of some unknown form of disapproval has consequence with someone close to us, whereas with a stranger it doesn't have any direct impact. | |
| It is definately something that has had some of us scratching our heads. I know my wife worried about this for quite some time til she began hearing stories about others who had run into someone that they knew from the textile world, at a nude resort, beach, club and listened to their stories and reactions. One in particular was a teacher at a Catholic school who vacationed with her husband at a nude resort and while on their morning walk, on the beach, ran into the priest, who was the Priniple at the school, coming the other way and he also was nude. I've always looked for those I know, at the club or a resort and we've seen a few and now my wife is over this phobia, which makes it much easier to just be, at a resort or club, then to "be on the lookout." :) | |
| I have always found it a silly notion to worry about running into someone you know at a nude venue. After all, they are there for the same reason. I too, look for someone that I know at a nude venue, it would be good way to find a common interest with them that you didn't know existed previously. | |
| Out of respect I cover up when my best friend come over but he knows im a nudist.but in all im not worried if he seen me in the nude. | |
| Whenever I'm able to go to a nude venue, I look for those that I know. Having friends at such places heightens the enjoyment for me. | |

| My son grew up a nudist, but in late teens he became more or less a textile. Sigh! He has no problem with my nudity as long as I dont pressure him to get nude. Live and let live. | |
| I live in a 2 br apartment, I rent out my second br and my fold out couch. The rule to live in my house is you can wear anything you want, I am wearing nothing. If you want to invite friends over, you have to explain this to them. If they have a problem with it, then they can stay outside. |
