Just this past December, we were at a C/O resort here in FL. During the after dinner dance in the restaurant, of the 30-40 guest remaining for the dance, my wife and I were the only ones nude. I was pretty disappointed that so many would chose to spend time at an clothing optional resort and chose to remained clothed.

On our Honeymoon Cruise last month, we stopped for the day in Key West. While enjoying a Pub Crawl tour sponsored by the ship, my wife spied the sign for the Garden of Eden C/O bar. As soon as we finished our pub crawl we headed straight there. She was pleasantly surprised that there were more nude women than men when we got there (she's still new to this and was worried she'd be the only one). We stayed for a few beers and chatted with another couple. The age range was 40-60, but a group of upper 20 year old couples came in to check it out, stayed for a drink, stayed clothed, then left. We would like go back for Fantasy Fest.

We purchased a home this past summer. One of the first things we did was to buy a pool table. We have plans to fence in the back yard. Put in some trees along the fence line for privacy from a couple of two story homes near ours. We are planning to put in a horseshoe pit and hopefully a hot tub in the near future.

When I joined NCH a few years ago, I really didn't have expectations. Except to maintain a few friendships from CA when I moved to Florida. I knew Brian from when I was a member of a non landed club he ran in southern California in 2001. I was a member of that group for about 3 years. When I saw the link on the AANR site for NCH, I decided to join. The discussions on here have been entertaining and informative. I enjoy reading about the experiences of others. Especially those experiencing nude recreation for the first time. I've been enjoying nude recreation since 1977, but my soon to be bride was a first timer about two years ago. That was a pretty traumatic experience, but she has since really come to enjoy it.

I hope others on here can learn from the experience of others. And come to enjoy nude recreation without the rude, negative judgement of those less informed.

We had wanted to come out, but we are so far behind on our wedding planning. We ended up taking her daughters shopping for the bridesmaids dresses and just trying to get back on pace for our April wedding. Believe me when I say that dress shopping is NOT ever on my list of things to do, especially when an opportunity for some relaxing beach time is available. Hopefully next time.

One of my first exposures to a Sailor Bar was the Fleet Club outside the Navy Base in Yokosuka Japan. I don't remember the exact name, but it had a bar for everyone.... rock, country, disco..(yes, disco, it was 1978). The bar was gone the last time I went to Yokosuka in 1991, but I believe they have new bar on base at the gate, but "back in the day", it was off base, across the street and to the right. After that, it would be most any bar on Magsaysay in Olongapo City. Oh man, what a misspent youth!!! Loved every minute of it!!!

So I brought my g/f to Cypress Cove for her birthday weekend. We had a great time as usual. I proposed to her by the pool on Saturday and enjoyed just hanging out. There was a DJ dance at Lakeside Restaurant, the only disappointing part was we were the only nude couple there. There were one or two others nude but they left early. She got called up to the dance floor and the crowd sang Happy Birthday. Then we were both called up for congratulations and relate how I "popped the question". Overall it was a great time, just a little disappointed in the lack of nudist at a nudist resort

Well said Lacey, well said.

I should be able to do whatever I want in my own backyard, provided it's fenced and relatively private. If you peek over the fence, see us nude and that offends you, that's your problem. If I wander out front to get the mail or bring in the trash can, then I'm infringing on your rights. Makes perfect sense to me.

It's been a long time since I've visited the chat room. It seemed to always be dominated by the same group of friends, 4 or 5 people who had their own conversation going. Trying to join the conversation wasn't always easy. You were either ignored by the "main" group and tried to have a conversation with someone else in between their chat. But like I said it's been a few years since I've even visited.

I think my g/f's intuition was probably right on where this particular woman was involved. In this case she acted as though my g/f wasn't even there, however, she wasn't being overly flirtatious. My g/f has more guy friends than girl friends. She too has been mistaken for being flirtatious, when in fact she was only being friendly. We've met many married and single women since she's been going to Cypress with me. Mostly it's been pretty positive. There's always that one overly intoxicated individual, male or female who just don't get it. But we carry on and just enjoy our time there when we can.

My girlfriend of two and half years and I had been together about 7 months when I told her about being a nudist. Initially she thought it had something to do with sex parties. I showed her an AANR book that listed all the affiliated clubs by state. We talked for hours that first night. It was about 3 weeks later that she agreed to go to Cypress Cove to see if it was something she could do. We arrived in the early evening of a Friday night, took the usual first timers tour (clothed). When we got back to our car to undress, she started crying. I offered to leave, talk some more and try again another day, if she wanted. She said that if she left now, she might not ever try it again. We wondered around the grounds (nude, although she kept her towel strategically placed) for about 20 minutes until she felt comfortable enough to venture to the pool area. It wasn't too crowded, less than a dozen people. We sat in the hot tub for a bit, she relaxed. She even carried on a conversation with a guy who was in the hot tub when we got there. A woman joined in, my g/f thought the woman was only there to chat up the guys. She asked me a few questions, she asked the other guys a few questions, but totally ignored my g/f. We stayed for a couple of hours, and returned the next day to see if she could do this in daylight with more people around. She was comfortable and relaxed ( a couple of drinks probably helped). We got in the pool, talked to other people (men and women). She has since been back to Cypress many times. She is always looking for when something is going on, such has Parrothead weekend to go back. We are planning to go for her birthday weekend next month. She talks about wanting to visit other clubs when we travel to visit family and friends in CA and VA. She would also like to visit a nude beach. We met a couple who belong to a local non landed club near us, who invited us to look into joining. My g/f says that she didn't think she would be comfortable going to a stranger's home and hanging out nude. Mostly, she has really taken to being a nudist pretty well. We recently bought a home with a large backyard that she wants to fence off and make as private as possible so that we can enjoy it in the buff when we can't make it down to Cypress. I guess I got pretty lucky this time.

It was the last year before I retired from the Navy so, for my birthday, I decided to load up the RV and spend a long weekend out there. It was only 20 miles or so from where I lived in San Diego. The people I met were very friendly; I had a great time. I accidentally locked my self out of the RV and had to climb through an open window. I drove by there the next year after the fires, it was very sad. Much of east and northern San Diego County was devastated by the fire in 2003.

It been just over a year since I took my g/f to her first nudist club, which was Cypress Cove. We have since gone a few times and she's gotten pretty comfortable with it. When we went to the have dinner we walked in and we were the only nude people in the place. Granted most were only partially dressed, but none the less, it was very unsettling for her to be totally nude and walk in and everyone, especially the other women were wearing coverups, some were fully clothed. Since then whenever we have dinner there she will wear a coverup, but I'll still go nude, it's why we go to nudist clubs, right?

I would think that if a child is raised a nudist, eventually they'd get to an age where they could choose to continue to be nudist or choose not to be nudist. Same as someone raised in a certain religion, eventually they'll get to where they can choose in which direction they want their life to go. I was never denied access to the clubs. I suppose I've been fortunate in that respect. I am currently in a relationship of about 7 months, I took her to her first nudist club this past weekend. She commented on the large male to female ratio right away, but also noted that the loudest people were a couple of mid 30 something year old females who had been drinking quite a bit and being a little flirtation in the pool.

It's a bad rap for the single guys when you see behavior like that going on. Especially when there were a couple of 6 or 7 yr old girls in the same pool.

This past weekend I sat down with my girlfriend of about 6 months and explained to her about being a nudist. She didn't handle it so well at first. Her first reaction was that it was about sex parties. Why do people go there first?? We talked a bit and I assured that it isn't about sex. However she is certain that she doesn't feel she can participate. She is convinced that if she can't, it will cause our relationship to end. After much assurance and then more assurance that that wouldn't be the case. She offered to go to a resort with me on the condition that at no time I leave her side. Also, apparently I can't take her to the resort I usually go to because she is concerned we'll run into a woman I dated briefly last year who also goes to the same resort. I'm kind of at a loss on how else to handle this situation. While I appreciate her willingness to try, I've told her repeatedly that she does have to.

So far I haven't met anyone at a nudist club, but I also haven't really been looking. I did take a girlfriend to Black's Beach a few years back. She was a little nervous, it didn't help when some random guy just pulled up and started a conversation that really made my girlfriend very uncomfortable. That pretty much ended any hope of her wanting to visit a nudist club.
But should someone come along who takes my breath away, we will have an open and honest conversation about nudism and just go from there.

Hidden River is a club about an hour outside Jacksonville on the GA/FL state line. I've never been, but you can find a link at aanr.com, there's also one in Georgia just off I-95, again about an hour or so north of JAX. Both have links on the AANR web site.

I think the reason for the lob sided ratio of women to men is something that can be found almost any where in our society, granted more so in the nudist world. It's like women who enjoy going to a bars or night clubs, they know they are going to receive a lot of attention, so they go in groups (safety in numbers, 1st rule of thumb from mom and dad). I think the same applies to women who are interested or curious about the nudist way of life. Only they will be at their most vulnerable. Therefore it's many times more difficult for one to find comfort in numbers. Fear of the unknown, what's going to happen when you're one of a handful of women surrounded by 3 or 4 or 10 times as many men... naked???

We guys like to think we walk the talk or what ever, but reverse the roles for minute. You're at your favorite nudist resort, you walk into the pool/spa area and every lounger and chair/table is occupied by a woman. You are the only guy for as far as the eye can see. Now we can all say we'd pop out our chests, suck in that beer gut and think we are "it".... but in reality, you'll have that moment of pause as every set of eyes becomes trained on you, even if for just a second. For that second, you'll be looking around for your buddy, your "wing-man". I can't even begin to imagine how women must feel, whether it's the pool area at her favorite nudist club, a night club on Saturday night, or just the grocery store.

I have two daughters, I suddenly became aware of the attention of men every where we went when they became teenagers. And I didn't like it at all, not one bit.

I think that an afternoon, a 3-4 hour block of time, once a month or so setting aside time for just the ladies, for those that are experiencing it for the first time, friends of those that are already enjoying our way of life. Hold group discussions and clinics, get all the concerns and fears out there and see how things go. But this is just my humble opinion

Of the clubs/resorts I've had the pleasure to visit, everyone I encountered was friendly and inviting. I would think that if someone were interested or curious enough to visit a social nudist environment, but could not reach a comfort level from the support of the members around them in the first 20-30 minutes to relax enough to undress and be part of the experience. Then perhaps their concerns and issues are best addressed by someone in a more professional capacity. But that's just my humble opinion.

My father loved golf. I wish I had gotten into it sooner than I did so that I could have played with him. We got to go out and play together once in 1986, his health deteriorated shortly after and he never got to play again. I'm glad though that we had that one time. He passed away in 2001, but whenever I play I always feel a little closer to him. One of my sons started playing recently, I make sure that we get out together every chance we get.

I've gone to Sunny Sands Resort in Pierson, FL, they've got a little chip-n-putt course, I haven't had an opportunity to play it though. The one time I was going to, I hit an arrant ball that came back and hit me right in the shin. It's funny now, but at the time I thought I broke something. I'm just waiting for a little warmer weather to head back down and give it another shot.

Clothing optional is such a difficult topic to really be able to have set rules for. Of the half dozen clubs I've had the opportunity to visit, I never really paid attention to whether it was clothing optional or always nude. The office staff was usually clothed, as well as the food preparers, which is something I support whether it's a requirement or not. When I had my RV, I'd cover up when I was cooking, it just seemed to make sense for sanitation reasons. It always seemed pretty even to me in the diners and bars, folks seemed equally covered (not clothed) and nude.

Whenever I'd go in to have lunch or a drink, I stay nude, but it didn't bother me if the people next to me chose to put on a t-shirt or a wrap. It seems just as often that a guy might don a shirt while his wife stayed nude and vice versa.

I suppose it would concern me more if you saw large crowds walking around fully clothed. Or in the pool and spa areas in bathing suits. Then I think I might have an issue with that scenario.

In 2000, I bought a '95 32ft class A Coachman Catalina, at the time is was to be my residence as I was going through a divorce and didn't want to move into an apartment. I think it depends on what you plan to use it for. I plan to purchase a 32-34ft 5th wheel in the near future. I plan to be a full-timer, I'm single my kids are grown. My reason for leaning toward the 5th wheel rather than another class A, I didn't like that anytime work needed to be done on my rig, even basic maintenance, I had to take in my entire "home" I feel that with a 5th wheel, I can park it at my friendly neighborhood nudist resort, take the truck in for what ever is needed and still have a "home" to go to. Also, I like the variety of floor plans I've seen recently at RV shows. My Coachman had a Ford 460 and got about 7-8 mpg. It struggled getting up over high mountain grades. I'm thinking a diesel truck will have a little more power getting up over those hills.

Perhaps the self proclaimed "home nudist" might benefit from hosting a home get together with others in their area. Start with a small group of people they are comfortable with and see how things go. For those who say their spouses/significant others aren't into the nudist way of life, this might be a good opportunity to get them involved. If they see how comfortable others are, that may be just the icebreaker needed to get them out of their shell. Keep the gathering small with an equal ratio of men to women. You never know, you could end up starting your own non landed club.

Roller skating and bowling. When I lived in San Diego a few years ago I belonged to a non landed club there, Somehow I always managed to miss those events. I think we had an issue getting a bowling alley, but I remember a skating event that I missed because I had to be out of town that particular weekend. Play golf, billiards... bad knees prevent my from enjoying things like basketball, volleyball (except water volleyball). We use to play frisbee a lot when I was younger, that is always fun if it doesn't require too much running around.

If I'm just around the house, I'll wear socks or house slippers. I'm not normally a hat person, but if I'm poolside reading, I'll wear a ball cap. Otherwise it's just sunglasses and flip flops and of course sunscreen. (Say, does anyone remember when flip flops used to be called thongs?? I spent a summer in Hawaii in the mid 70's and everyone called them thongs. I slipped up a couple of years ago and asked if anyone has seen my thongs... as you can imagine I got a few interesting sideways glances)

Hello, I'm Vince. I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I've been in FL for 3 years. I'm a west coast transplant. So far I've only been to Sunny Sands Resort. The folks there are great, very friendly and welcoming to the new guy in town. I've read older postings of issues with law enforcement at Playalinda, so I've been hesitate to head down there or to Apollo beach. What is the latest regarding the nude beach sections of those beaches? It's kind of a long drive just to get a citation for some else's shortsightedness.

Hello, I'm Vince, currently living in NE Florida. Once upon a time (2000-2004), in a land far, far away (Oregon & Calif) I had a 1995 32ft Class A Coachman Catalina. She was awesome. I took her to Glen Eden and Swallows Sun Island in Southern Cal. Camped at San Onofre. Sadly, she became a casualty of my retirement from the Navy in 2003. I managed to hold on to her for about a year, but when the cost got overwhelming, I had to let her go. But one day soon, I'll be out there again. I go back and forth between a truck/5th wheel combo or another class A. If I go class A again, I'm leaning toward a diesel pusher. If anyone has any "pro/con" pointers between 5th wheels and diesels, I'm open to the experiences of others. I like to get as much information as I can before making decisions like this. There is no better info than from those who have been there and done that, right? Thanks

At the end of my senior year of high school, 1978, my g/f and I decided not to participate in the school's organized "Ditch Day" festivities at one of the state beaches where we lived (near Santa Barbara, CA) Any way, we decided to head to a much more secluded beach for a little alone time, I was leaving for basic training right after graduation. My sister fixed us up with 2 bottles of Boone's Farm Mellow Days wine, remember that stuff??
There were a few old guys fishing, but it was a long stretch of beach, so we just looked for some place where we could have a little privacy. We were running up and down the beach naked, playing frisbee, swimming, eventually one thing lead to another and we found what we thought was a secluded area over the dunes out of sight of the beach. We forgot that we were only about 40 or 50 feet from a railroad track (we had to cross the tracks to get to the beach). Just as things were getting steamy, the 12:01 Amtrak comes roaring by... the whole train got a perfect view of our "Afternoon Delight" moment. It startled us, but there was no place to hide, so we just waved!! She was a good sport, we laughed about it with friends days later at my going away party.

About 5 years ago I was boating with one of my sisters and her family on the Columbia River in Portland, OR. They had one of those intertubes that you pulled behind a boat, large enough for two adults to ride. So my daughter and I were on it and getting whipped around all over the river. We hit a wake and I was hanging off the edge of the tube. Well the speed of the boat and the pull of the water took my shorts down to my ankles. I let go with one hand to try to pull them up and ended up getting tossed altogether. I skipped across the water like a stone and ended up losing the shorts completely. I took a few minutes of swimming around to find them. Everyone on the boat and on the shore had a great laugh at me trying to put them on and tread water at the same time.

Subic is up near the top to be sure. I went many times in the late '70's on USS Midway. Along with Perth, Australia. But my all time favorite was Palma Spain, we hit that port a few times in '88 and '89 on USS Sylvania.

I crossed the line 5 times, 3 times on USS MIDWAY (CV-41) in 1979 and 1980 and once each on USS COPELAND (FFG-25) in 1991 AND USS MT VERNON (LSD-39) in 1995.... that tradition sure did changer over the years, I wonder what it's like now with mixed gender crews on so many ships.
