I would love to see a third section of How Kristen Spent Her Summer Vacation, but I'm definitely not the right person to write it. I do have some ideas for it. I kind of thought it should include the parents of her friend Janny deciding to keep their resort open year 'round and offering her the position of life guard/pool maintenance person, with the proviso that she could take a couple of weeks off for a photo shoot if the opportunity presented itself. Then in Jan/Feb she and the photographer (I forget his name) go "down under" to do the photo shoot on the Great Barrier Reef that had been discussed earlier. During this time she thinks she has fallen in love with the photographer, but eventually realizes that the one she really loves is Richard, etc, etc, etc.
I sure hope someone will undertake the writing of "Kristens Off Season Adventure." I know they could make it a lot more interesting than it sounds here.

One thing that helped the ladies to preserve their coifs back in the day was that in those days most women wore rubber or latex bathing caps. The caps were supposedly for hygiene, to keep the pools cleaner lol. Of course, it was determined eventually that the caps did more harm than good.

I know of a couple of older books. On is titled "High Red for Dead". I don't remember much except that it is a mystery that involves railroading and a nudist camp.

The other is a light (very light) mystery by Richard S. Prather. The title is "Strip for Murder", and the hero, one Sheldon (Shell) Scott, P.I. whose case takes him into a nudist camp. The results are quite funny, and while it makes light of nudism, it never really denigrates it.

While I have never, to the best of my knowledge, encountered a trans gender person, I am somewhat in sympathy with them. I/we can only try to imagine the emotional pain they must have endured in coming to that decision. No, I really don't think it's right, but I'm not sure I consider it a sin, but even if I did, we are all sinners and I'm in no position to say that someone elses sins are worse than min. God has promised that he would give us the strength and the means/guidance to bear any burden. Well, it's possible that His guidance led to the decision to change gender. We Christians must also remember that Jesus' last commandment to us was to "Love one another as I have loved you". No, we definitely should NOT discriminate against TGs. Having said all that, I can only hope that if I ever do encounter a TG person that my knee jerk reaction will be positive.

Brett, I disagree somewhat. I think children of nudist parents, even if one is a step parent, should be forced to practice nudism with their parents until they enter puberty, at which time they can make an informed decision, which they may reverse after puberty, or may not, but at least they have first hand knowledge to base their decision on. It is much more difficult for someone of any age to decide to try nudism if they have never experienced it.

Adam and Eve's sin was not being naked, it was disobedience, and their punishment was being banished from Eden. God made garments for them because he knew they would need protection from the elements.

I think it's just human nature to want to see that which is hidden and attractive. Yes, it is easier to have a conversation in the nude than clothed. I remember years ago Orson Bean was on the Tonight Show and was telling Johnny about he and his wife visiting what he referred to as "the nude beach at Santa Barbara". He and his wife were nude on a blanket, and, he said "there we were with all these young nude women scampering about the beach and when a young lady in a bikini
started to spread her towel near us I was trying to look down her bra". It's just human nature.

I would suggest that because of her green hair, she should be named either Jade or Emerald. As for her job, why not have her own a small gift shop that specializes in inexpensive but good quality imports? In any event, she should own her own business so that she could easily get away any time that she is needed. Possibly she could own or manage a small nudist resort.

Regarding the "Alternate Story Line", I have taken it about as far as I can. I have developed the characters to the degree that I wanted, but I am running out of ideas for adventures for Orey but I hate to see it end. With this in mind, I am opening it up for others to add to providing they do not alter the characters. Perhaps something happens to Ken and Lou, as they are getting on in years, maybe Orey discovers that there was another family on Oren that was able to get their male infant into a stasis pod which also found it's way to Earth. That young man would be the same age as Orey. If someone wants to pursue that line, they are free to develop the character of the boy from Oren, and how he and Orey interact.

Thanks for letting me bring it this far, and I look forward to seeing what others can do with it. The potential is there for many adventures.

“Lass ….Lass…are you there Lass?”

“Mff, unh, oh,” the voice in her head woke Orey from a sound sleep.

“Yes Mr. President. I’m sorry; I was napping “

she was napping on an air mattress in the swimming pool at Sunshine Prairie.

“Lass, we’ve got a situation that I think would best be handled by you.

There has been an accident at a nuclear reactor in one of the less

developed nations, and more than 300 people are trapped. It would not be

difficult for a rescue team to go in and bring them out except for one

thing; if it were handled that way, both the rescue team and the trapped

victims would be exposed to possibly lethal doses of radiation. We are

hoping you can affect a rescue without further endangering the victims.”

“Of course, Sir, I’ll go right away and see what can be done, just tell me

the location.”

When Orey reached the disaster site, she saw that a decontamination station had been set up some distance from the reactor, but it was woefully inadequate for 300 or more people. It appeared to be able to handle about 20 or 30 people per day. She would have to try to get the victims out of danger with little or no further exposure to radiation. It had been revealed to her, from the data stored in her subconscious, that she would not be affected by any radiation on Earth, so she did not need to worry about her own safety.

She teleported into the area where the victims were, and found it to be secure from additional radiation, but all of the victims had received some exposure before getting into the safe area.

“Ladies and gentlemen” she began, addressing the victims. They were, of course somewhat surprised to see this naked young lady appear in their midst.

“Many of you know who I am, but for those of you who may not, I am known

throughout the world as “The Force”. I help people, that’s all I do, and

if you have any doubts you can talk to some of those who are familiar with

me and my work.”

“We have a somewhat unusual situation here, and it’s going to require you

to accept the necessity for certain actions to get you out of here

safely. You have all been exposed to some radiation, and so has your

clothing. The first thing we have to do is get rid of the clothing, as it

will continue to irradiate you as long as you have it on, so you are all

going to have to strip right down to the skin so I can get rid of the

clothing, and eliminate one danger to you."

They all complied, but there was some grumbling, naturally. After they had undressed, Orey teleported all of the clothing back into the area where all the high radiation was, to be sealed forever as soon as the victims were out of the way.

The victims were very surprised to see that large pile of clothing just seemingly disappear in the blink of an eye. Everyone began yelling, asking her how she did that.

“People,” Orey began, “I did that with one of my special abilities. I am

able to move things and people with the power of my mind, it’s called

teleportation, it’s how I got in here, and it’s how I’m going to get all

of you out."

"You will all have to go through a decontamination process too as a

precaution to further insure your safety. There is a problem with that,

however, as the portable decontamination facility that has been set up is

totally unable to handle this many people. Decontamination consists of

bathing or showering for several minutes, then putting on clean clothing.

Since the decontamination station won’t be able to handle you all, I am

going to take you all to an ocean beach. You can bathe in the salt water

for a while, and then I will take you to the decontamination area to be issued

some temporary clothing until you can get some of your own.”

They did enjoy the time at the beach, spending nearly an hour bathing in the ocean. Then they discovered there was a small fresh water stream fairly close by, so were able to rinse the salt off of their bodies and out of their hair.

They also came out of it with the realization that they would not die of embarrassment if somebody, even someone of the opposite sex, saw them naked, that being naked, especially out of doors, was a truly enjoyable experience once they realized that there is nothing inherently evil or sinful about the naked human body, and that everyone, when naked and un-self-conscious of it was truly beautiful, regardless of the condition of their body.

All of them were checked to see how much radiation their bodies had absorbed, and all were found to be far below the danger level.

Having gotten the victims to a point where normal procedures could take care of them, Orey returned to Sunshine Prairie.

I see "clothing optional" in it's current usage, as simply being an instrument to help "newbies" become accustomed to nudity and to the idea of themselves becoming nude. It works extremely well at the club I go to.

I also see a possible future usage of "clothing optional" as being where nudists/naturists and textiles can exist side by side in the same community with neither taking exception to the other, where a naked person would not draw negative comments from textiles, and vice versa, in short, a time and place where the term "clothing optional" would be redundant.

I do belong to NCH, CFI and AANR because I believe that organized nudism/naturism is doing a lot to help the nude lifestyle, by any name, become more accepted by the textile world.

I have no desire to check my mail in the nude, but I would love to see the day when anyone could, if they so chose, without anyone taking offense at it. I would also love to see the day when all beaches, pools, water parks, etc. would all be c/o at all times, to have virtually everyone acknowledge that there is nothing inherently evil or sinful in the naked human body.

Four years have passed, Orey is now eighteen, and she has continued to help people all over the world. The media are still making wild guesses about her, and she still refuses to grant interviews to anyone.

Then one day, all the television and radio stations all over the world are carrying the message that the President of The United States is asking “The Force” (he knows no other name for her) to contact him as soon as she is able to. As the request is made so publicly, Orey is more than a little bit leery of it. Still, it is a request from the President of The United States, if it is genuine.

She thinks, “I really don’t want to walk into a set-up or a trap, but if it really is from the

President then I must respond”.

When the President and the First Lady were married, she was a captain in the air force. Since then she had received regular promotions as she was excellent in her field, and had earned her first star (Brigadier General) before she retired, and before her husband was elected to the presidency.

Hence, Orey felt that the First Lady was every bit as reliable and security conscious as the President. With this in mind, she teleported herself into the executive living quarters, at 10:00 pm: into the bedroom to meet both the President and his wife, this being, in Orey’s opinion, the only safe way to have a secret meeting. Of course, both people were startled until they realized who it was. After introductions, the First Lady excused herself, knowing that she had no “need to know” about what was to be discussed at the meeting.

The President began with “I need to have a better name to address you

with; Miss Force just seems so cumbersome.

Orey, not wanting to reveal her true name to ANYBODY, responded: “Well,

why don’t you just call me ‘Lass?”

“A good choice” said the Chief Executive, “simple, and you are the only

person I know who would be addressed by that name.”

“Sir, now that that is settled, why did you want me to contact you” asked Orey.

“Well”, the President began, ‘I believe that you can be of great service

to this country, but there are some things I need to ask you, need to know

about you, before I can go any further with this. The first question I

have is one my wife urged me to ask: why are you always nude? Second, do

you claim any single country as your home, and is it The United States?

Third is how many special abilities do you have, and how did you come

by them?”

“There are several reasons why I am always nude”, Mr. President, ‘first, I

have spent the majority of my life naked, it’s natural, and it is the only

true comfort. Also, several of your magazine writers have written stories

about me without knowing anything about me. One of them, John Osgood,

stumbled on a true fact about me, and he isn’t even aware that it’s true;

I do come from another planet. I am the sole survivor of a planet that

was destroyed by a huge asteroid. Unlike Earth, which has just the one

yellow sun, that planet had three red suns, hence the entire planet’s surface

had warm weather all the time, and the average temperature was 140 degrees

Fahrenheit, so its inhabitants had no need for clothing, indeed, any

clothing at all would have been extremely uncomfortable. My parents

put me in a vessel that was able to bring me to Earth. I would also be

totally unable to use my special abilities were I to wear any clothing.

Except for a brief period on my home planet, I have always lived in The

United States, and, while I’m not legally a citizen, I consider myself

one, and will always think of the U.S. as my home. I’m sorry, but I can’t

tell you what part of the U.S. I live in, just that it could be anywhere

, as I am totally impervious to heat and cold.

I’m not sure how many special abilities I have, I’m not even sure that I’m

aware of all of them. Sometimes I become aware of a new one when there is

a great need for it. These abilities are a result of the differences, and

sometimes the mixture, of the gravity and the atmospheric content of the

two planets I have lived, on and medications I was given as a child. One

of my gifts is teleportation. I can move things or people, including

myself, any distance with my mind, In fact, that’s how I got here this

evening. I can teleport myself to any point on the globe in seconds. The

most stringent requirement of these abilities is that I can only use them

to help others; I can never use them for personal gain. If I should ever

attempt to use them for personal gain I would lose them forever.”

“Lass, you’ve given me a lot to think about, and it won’t be something I

can do overnight, it could take days or weeks. Is there a way I can

contact you to arrange a meeting without letting the whole world know?”

Yes sir, there is a very simple way. One of my abilities is telepathy,

and I can teach you how to contact me with your mind. No, I won’t be able

to read your mind at will, only when you allow it and only the parts you

don’t shield from me. Then we would have full communication ability with

each other. The same as if we were speaking face to face.”

“Splendid” replied the president, ‘let’s get it done now.”

Ken also had a good laugh over the new nickname, as did several of their close friends who lived in the park. He was wondering, however, just how long the “temporary” screen around the pod was going to have to be there. Orey then told him

“I really need to have a permanent site for it as I will have to access

it occasionally. It would be nice if you could build a permanent building

out of the main area of the park, away from curious people.”

Ken began to draw the plans for a building to be built directly behind the office building (which also held their living quarters). This was an area with an eight-foot privacy fence around it, and day visitors and vendors never had access to it, nor did they even get a glimpse of it, as the office and storage part of the building had no windows that looked out on that area. It was already there when they had purchased the park, and was too out of the way to be included as part of the general use area, so it was ideal for the “pod shed”.

After moving the pod through the living quarters and into the back yard, they decided that there was enough privacy that there was no need to put up another structure. They simply put a tarp with a camo design over it. As Orey said:

"It has traveled for several light years through space, it’s doubtful that

a little rain or sunshine is going to do any damage.”

Things went on normally for a while. That is to say, the “new normal”, with Orey’s help being frequently required to defuse a serious situation with no one getting hurt, and all lawbreakers ending up in jail. Ken and Lou were becoming accustomed to Orey just suddenly disappearing and then just as suddenly re-appearing after some time had passed.

“The Force” was being written about more and more often in newspapers all over the world. Even several magazines wrote fairly lengthy articles about her, with none of them ever being able to interview her. There were some really wild conjectures in those articles; one of them even claimed she was from another planet.

One evening, when they were just enjoying a quiet night watching television, Orey’s head snapped up, and she appeared to be listening to something. She then told Lou and Ken,

“call 911, an airliner has crashed a little south of devil’s canyon, and all the usual rescue equipment will be required except firefighting equipment. There is no fire, thank the powers in charge.”

With that, she disappeared. Of course, Lou and Ken knew she had transported herself to the crash site to be of whatever help she could, which was considerable.

She later told them: “There were many injuries, some quite serious, but

no fatalities thanks to the skill of the pilots and crew."

The captain said that lightning had struck the aircraft and knocked out all electrical systems, including batteries and generators.

Instantly they had no radio, no navigation equipment, and no servo motors to operate the pumps in the hydraulic system. Luckily, the captain had grown up in this area and knew the terrain extremely well, so he knew of an area straight ahead that they could descend to by cutting engine power, and, hopefully, maintain enough control by varying engine speeds to make a safe emergency landing.

The rescue response was fast and large. Many ambulances, many EMT’s and some doctors and nurses showed. The injured were quickly taken to the closest hospitals, with the more severely injured being taken by helicopter.

After it was all over, Orey told her folks:

“Apparently, while I still cannot go into other peoples’ minds willy

nilly, some people who were either born with a gift or have worked to

develop their minds can send out messages under stress which I can hear.

There’s no other way I could’ve known about the crash as with no radio

they weren’t able to broadcast a “mayday” signal or activate their

emergency beacon transmitter.”

All who were involved were grateful for “The Force’s” abilities because if she hadn’t gotten that mental message, rescue efforts would have been delayed for hours or days until the plane was declared missing, and then until the weather cleared enough to send out search planes.

When Ory woke up, she took another shower and walked into the kitchen where Lou was watching the news on television as she prepared dinner. Suddenly, the announcer interrupted with some breaking news, a gunman had tried to rob a jewelry store in a mall, and when the alarms went off he panicked and grabbed two women and several children as hostages, and took them into the storage room.

“That’s odd,” thought Lou, one minute Ory is sitting at the table and the next instant she’s gone.”

Still not used to the changes that were coming about in their lives, Lou didn’t realize that Orey had teleported herself into the room where the gunman was holding the hostage. She materialized behind the gunman and, with her superior strength, simply reached around him and took the pistol out of his hand. He tried to grab her, but of course, with her special abilities he was no match for her. Finally, she held both of his hands behind him and forced him to call out the police that he surrendered.

He yelled, “Don’t shoot, I’m sending the hostages out” which he did. The police ordered

him to throw out his weapon, which Orey did. Then, when the police ordered him to come out with his hands up, Orey pushed him out the door, still holding both of his hands behind his back. She had thought about sending him out alone, but realized that he and the hostages would be telling of the naked girl who saved them. At first there was a swell of indignation through the crowd that this young lady would dare to appear stark naked in public, but it died down after a while, although her nudity still raised questions. Of course, the police wanted her to come to headquarters to answer a gazillion questions, and the media reporters wanted very badly to interview her, but when asked who she was all she would say is “Just call me a force for good.” Well, of course, the media reps jumped right on that, and before the day was over, she was nicknamed “The Force” by the media and the public.

As the story unfolded on the television, Lou realized where Ory had gone, and when Orey returned, they had a good laugh over her new nickname.

With the help of some of the permanent residents who had become good friends, Ken got the stasis pod loaded onto a sled, which they then used a vehicle to drag back into the central clearing, in approximately the same spot that it had landed. Then they erected a temporary screen all around the pod so that day visitors and vendors, etc. could not see what was going on. It was only the permanent residents who knew Ory’s complete story.

Ory was inside the screen for five days and nights not coming out to eat, or even to take care of bodily functions. On the sixth morning, Ory stepped out and asked Lou for some breakfast. As she ate, she told Lou that she wasn’t going to speak of what she had learned until both Lou and Ken were present as there was far too much information to have to repeat it. When all three were together, she began:

“Wow, this is going to be very difficult for you

to absorb and to understand and believe.

I haven’t been able to get it sorted out in my

brain, so I cannot present this in an

organized manner; I’m just going to tell it as it

comes to mind. To begin with, my body

is even more different than we knew. Because of

the differences in the atmospheres of Oren and

Earth, and also because of some of the

inoculations the school required me to

Have, I am impervious to heat and cold. As long

as I have oxygen, I can exist in the

middle of a blast furnace, or in absolute zero

temperatures with no clothing, and without

coming to any harm. I also have much quicker

reflexes than anyone on Earth. Quick enough that

I can dodge bullets. I also have a sort of built

in radar that warns me when danger is immediate

and requires action NOW, which gives me the

ability to know when someone may intend to ambush

me, and gives me the split second warning I need

to dodge bullets. I am also much stronger than

anyone on Earth, again due mostly to the

lighter gravity of Earth. No, I’m not like

Superman, but I can lift over 500 pounds and

throw it several hundred meters I am

specifically bound to use all these abilities

only to help others. Failure in this area could

cause any or all of my abilities to weaken, or

leave me totally.

When I venture forth to help someone, I am

required to remain in my natural state –

unclothed. Fortunately, when I began school you

required me to wear a wig all the time when I was not in Sunshine Prairie, so I don’t think I will need any kind of secret identity as the only ones who could identify me are our friends here in the park who we trust totally, and all of my school friends have only seen me with a wig and clothing on. Of course, I will have to continue to attend

school as the law requires until I’m 18, but that

should present no problems. Also, I need to tell

you that there were no weapons in the pod. The

people of Oren lived in peace with each other and

weapons were banned several thousand years ago.

Yes, the people of Oren did eat the flesh of

animals, but the animals were euthanized in what

you would deem a very humane manner.”

Throughout the telling of the knowledge Ory had gained, Ken and Lou had sat, totally rapt. As Ory stopped to take a breath, Lou insisted that she needed very badly to get a shower and 8 or 10 hours of sleep. After that she could continue.

Ory had grown into a truly beautiful young woman, but there were a number of differences between her and people born on earth: The most obvious difference was that she had no hair anywhere on her body, none on her head, no eyebrows, and no hair anywhere the second most obvious was the color of her skin. It was a lovely true copper color and never changed, not getting darker with exposure to the sun, or lighter with less sunlight.
Of course, the residents and guests of the Sunshine Prairie Nudist Park/Resort were used to that, as they had known Ory since she first came to Ken and Lou.

“Mom, Dad, can I talk to you?” asked Ory. “Sure,” said Ken, just let us

finish up here and we’ll be right with you.” “I hardly know where to

start,” began Ory, you’ve always been honest with me and made sure that I

realized that even though you love me as if you were my birth parents, you

aren’t. You also warned me that some additional knowledge would be

revealed to me on my fourteenth birthday, but that was all you knew about

it. Well, it seems that today is my fourteenth birthday as suddenly my

mind is far more crowded than it has ever been, it’s as though ninety per

cent of my mind had been hidden behind a curtain. First, you need to know

that Orenian people reach full maturity on their fourteenth birthdays,

physically, mentally, emotionally, in every part of their being. I have

also found out that I have some other characteristics that are not very

common on this planet. Not only did the scientists of Oren make great

advances in technology, they also made great advances in understanding and

using their minds. First of all, I am a telepath. No, I can’t go around

reading people’s minds wily nilly, but I can teach people how to admit me

into their minds so that we can communicate strictly by thought, but it

can only be done when both parties agree to it. Secondly, I have the gift

of teleportation. Not only can I move objects around with the power of my

mind, I can also move people, including myself; I can be anywhere on Earth

in a matter of seconds. I really don’t understand much more than that

until I can access the stasis pod, the “rocket thingy” that brought me to

you. I know where you have stored it all these years, but I will need to

have it brought out into a large, open area so I can freely access all the

data that’s stored in it, and I can check out all the tools and devices

that are in it too, possible even some weapons, I am not at all sure."

Alternate story line for Origins of a Hero, My intent is for this to be a single author story as I had this plotted out mentally before the other story line took a different direction. Of course the opening scene which sets the direction of the story, is the original paragraph.

In galaxy light years from our own, we find the planet of Oren. A planet similar to Earth in many respects, yet different in many other ways. The first being, that opposed to our one yellow sun, the planet was warmed by three red suns. The second difference was the planet’s technological advances having mastered interstellar travel long ago. The final difference was that, due to the climate brought about by the suns, none of the people wore clothing of any kind.

Unfortunately, we come upon Oren in the midst of tragedy. A gargantuan asteroid collided with the planet, destroying it. Despite their best efforts to demolish the asteroid, and then evacuate the planet when they couldn’t, millions lost their lives. Those few that managed to escape fared no better as their ships were destroyed by debris. The only ship to survive was the flagship carrying the royal family, the king, queen, and newborn daughter. While not demolished it was severely damaged.

“The damage is thorough your highness. Communication is down, life support is failing, and the fuel cells could rupture any moment,” said the captain.

“What of the stasis pods?” the king asked.

“All but one is too damaged to survive space travel.”

“Very well we will take that one.”

“I’m afraid that won’t be possible. You see the pod was designed for animals, so it would only be large enough for the princess.”

“I understand captain. We will do what is necessary.”

“Where will we send her?” the queen asked.

“I do not know. I will set the pod to scan for any inhabitable planets. We can only hope she lands in place with beings that will care for her.”

With that, the pod was programmed and the princess was placed inside. The king and queen’s last moments were spent watching the stasis pod speed away to safety, carrying its precious cargo. The princess and last survivor of Oren slept peacefully, unaware of the changes that were taking place and what their future would hold.
(End of original opening scene, not written by me.)

With their advanced technology, the scientists of Oren had sent out thousands of deep space probes over the years to examine other parts of the universe. The results of those probes were stored in the memory banks of the stasis pods. If intelligent life was detected on a planet, the probe would go into high orbit around the planet and using LDS (long distance scanning) record everything about all the cultures on the planet, it’s languages, morals, religious beliefs, if any, and the level of their technology, along with data about the planet such as size, orbit time span, gravity strength, contents of atmosphere, etc.

The on board computer in the stasis pod was able to sift through all that data in a matter of minutes. It found only one planet that was close enough to Oren in the things that mattered in a spiral galaxy many light years away. It was the third planet from a yellow sun, and while not as warm as Oren was, had tropical and sub-tropical areas that would be adequate for the princess.

During the more than eight-month journey to the new planet the computer imparted into the Princesses’ mind all the data that had been collected about the new planet she was going to. All of this knowledge would remain buried in her mind, however, until she was fourteen years old. The orbital time span of the new planet was almost identical to that of Oren, so time would be reckoned the same. All of the data, along with knowledge of why it was withheld from her for so long, would come into the Princesses’ conscious mind on her fourteenth birthday.

The computer also noted that in many places on the new planet the inhabitants were extremely conservative in their beliefs and practices, so it elected to land in a somewhat liberal area where although in most communities the inhabitants were covered with garments of some sort, there were also a few communities where the inhabitants lived as the people of Oren had, clothes-free, and these communities were not subjected to ill treatment by the other communities.

The computer selected one of these communities to land in, and came in for its landing in the wee hours of the morning.

It stopped in the center of the community, opened a large hatch so the fact that there was an infant on board was very evident, and printed out a note in the local language explaining who the princess is, and where she came from. The note also explained about the knowledge implanted in the child’s brain to be revealed on her fourteenth birthday.

Louise Driscoll, having been raised on a farm, had been an early riser all her life so she was not surprised to see the digital clock at the side of the bed read 4:30 am. She got out of bed and put the coffee maker on so it would be done by the time she finished her shower and brushed her teeth. She poured the coffee into an insulated carafe and took it outside so she could enjoy two or three cups at her leisure while she watched the sunrise over the high desert.

Normally she would then have gone back inside and awakened her husband, Ken, so he could shower, etc, while she prepared breakfast. Thus, they would begin another day as owners and managers of the Sunshine Prairie Nudist Park/Resort.

Lou (everyone called her Lou) and Ken had married when they were both 22 years old. They had wanted children very much and, of course, tried everything they or their doctors could think of to conceive with no success. Then, after six years of trying, doctors discovered an abnormality in Lou’s uterus and she had to have a radical hysterectomy.

Not able to have a family, they needed something to focus their energy on, and decided to buy a small, struggling business and put all their efforts into turning it around and making it grow. The only business they could find that was financially feasible for them was the slightly run down privately owned Prairie Nudist Club, which they purchased, and then rolled their sleeves up and went to work. Neither had ever been a nudist, but they had no problem adapting to the new lifestyle, and in a short time came to love it. Now, ten years later, they had made many repairs, a fair amount of improvements, and several expansions, and as a result, they had a resort that enjoyed many return visitors as well as approximately 165 full time residents.

As stated earlier, at this point Lou would normally go back inside and rouse Ken to start their day, but as she rose and began to gather the coffee paraphernalia, she noticed a strange object in the middle of the large clear area in front of the office. She went to check it out and as she neared it, she noted that it had a similar appearance to a small missile or rocket. Then she noticed the large open hatch, and the infant inside. As well as the note printed out in very proper English which explained the fate of the planet Oren, and how the princess (it seems the infant was the Princess of Oren) came to be here. It also explained about the knowledge that had been planted in her subconscious to emerge on her fourteenth birthday. Lou picked up the child and ran for her house yelling for Ken.

“It doesn’t seem possible that she will be 14 tomorrow,” Lou observed to

Ken. “It seems like just yesterday I found her in that strange rocket

thing.” They had decided to keep the infant for two reasons: 1: They had

always wanted children, and 2: the state child welfare program was known to be riddled with problems, with a lot of child abuse in the foster care system, and with children frequently being “lost”. Fortunately, one of their permanent residents was a retired police officer who had spent many years working the juvenile division and knew well the shortcomings of the state program. He had been able to get a copy of the birth certificate of a baby girl who had died only days after birth somewhere on the east coast, and, by some stroke of luck, the deceased child’s name had been Oren Lee Driscoll.

“Of course, that’s her fourteenth birthday according to her birth

certificate,” said Ken, We really have no idea when her birthday actually is.”

They had hidden the stasis pod (that rocket thing) in an abandoned mine shaft just in case the princess would need it or any of the information or objects it carried when the information in her subconscious was revealed to her. Ken and Lou, now aged 52, were somewhat anxious about what Ory’s (they had nicknamed the child Ory) subconscious would reveal to her

The term "nudity preferred" is more accurate in some instances, but I believe that C/O is a friendlier term for newbies who are really unsure about the whole idea. As far as the community, I would like to be in a community where everyone accepts everyone else as the are, nude, clothed or whatever. This kind of acceptance is what we have been trying to achieve with the general populace for decades.

I'm always nude at home except for the rare occasions when I get visitors. I live in an apartment so there is no outdoor area to indulge myself, so, I keep a day clear of other demands as often as I can during warm weather to go to the Forest Hills Club so I can enjoy some outdoor nuding. Indoors is good, even alone, but outdoors with friends is awesome.

I'd like to propose an unofficial mini-meet-up at the Forest Hills Club on July 4 for Michigan NCHers. I know I intend to be there, and it would be nice to get to know some of my MI friends. I propose Forest Hills as we do have some members who live in the northern lower peninsula and FHC would be centrally located. If anyone has any other ideas, let's hear them, and see if we can get this set up. Of course, any NCHers that show up would be welcome regardless of whether they live in MI or not.

Sunscreen does not prevent cancer except by helping to prevent sunburn. The best prevention for cancer is common sense. If your wife does not like wearing anything on her head then I suggest she stay out of direct sunlight most of the time. If a person stays under an umbrella, or shade tree, or whatever outdoors they will get 100 times as much sunlight as they would inside a building with all doors and window open to admit sunlight. Over exposure to direct sunlight is the primary cause of melanoma. I never get much of a tan, but I get all the benefits of sunlight because I stay in the shade most of the time.

When she was ready for me to strip from the waist down, to check hips and knees, she asked if I were wearing any underwear. When I said no, she handed me a paper gown and turned her back while I put it on. There was still some accidental exposure as she was an orthopedic surgeon, and checking my hips without some unplanned exposure was impossible. We both treated it as no big deal.

I have never been to Turtle Lake but have only heard good things about it. I have been going to Forest Hills for many years and it is a small, member owned club, but a very nice place to go to. All toilets are of the flush variety, and there is plenty of hot water. I went to Sunny Haven once many years ago, and found it to be a very friendly group, although they are strictly nudist, not clothing optional as Forest Hills is. If you are confident in your nudity you could pick any of the three and probably enjoy yourself. If you have any qualms about getting naked, you might want a c/o club where you don't have to disrobe until and unless you are comfortable with it. In most c/o facilities, the pool, hot tub, sauna, etc. are nude mandatory, so if you go on a really hot day the pool will look very inviting and will help you overcome your doubts and fears. Forest Hills might be the best place to introduce your wife to nudism as it is c/o and she could talk with some of the ladies there (all nudists/naturists are very friendly people) and that might make it easier for her to try. I would recommend that you visit all three places eventually as they will all be slightly different experiences, but all enjoyable. Good luck and happy nudeing.

Derf, there is still at least one quality magazine about nudism/naturism available. It is "N", the official magazine of The Naturist Society. If you go online to "naturistsociety.com" you will find a lot of information. You can get the magazine by joining TNS, an excellent organization, or the site tells you how to purchase individual copies of the magazine. Cost of membership is currently $55 per year with a $10 discount for seniors, certain young adults and disabled veterans. I hope this helps you out. There may be other quality magazines available but I am not aware of any in the U.S. You could also subscribe to Australian Sun and Health or British Naturism.

I remember my father getting copies of "Sunshine and Health" at a local bookstore when I was a pre-teen. As I recall, all the pages were tinted green, all the female genitalia were airbrushed out, and there was always something in front of male genitalia. In those days they were still trying to justify nudism to the general public as being primarily for health and fitness and many clubs did not allow any alcohol or tobacco products on the premises.

There was a time when when nudists and naturists were two different groups who believed they had different goals. In a nutshell, nudists were those who attended landed facilities, and all others were naturists. Then Lee Baxendall and the officers of ASA (now AANR) started working together and realized that the two groups shared many common goals, which can be summarized as seeking wider public acceptance of our life style. Since then the lines between the groups have blurred considerably as many nudists now enjoy the great outdoors outside of landed facilities, and many naturists visit the landed facilities. Because of that I prefer a term that I read about where a woman refers to herself and her husband as Nakos. I like that term. It includes everyone who enjoys the nude life style, and offends no one, at least it shouldn't, so just call me a nako.

It's the feeling of your entire body being able to breathe freely. You don't perspire nearly as much, and it's easy to step under a shower and rinse off when you do, and nothing can beat the feeling of swimming in the nude, with no wet, clammy, and sometimes sandy suit making you miserable, and doing this with other like minded people gives one a feeling of community, and yes, even intimacy that has nothing to do with sex. I think it's the thought that we know something that the textiles don't, lol.

Once again, Sunbunny, you are right on track. At one time, not too many years ago, nudism and naturism in the U.S. were perceived as two different lifestyles with nudity being the only common factor. Then Lee Baxendall (sp) and the leadership at A.S.A. realized that a lot could be gained by working together for our common goal, public acceptance of our lifestyle. Since then, the line between nudism and naturism has become blurred, with naturists visiting landed facilities and nudists visiting free beaches, etc. If someone goes to a nudist facility or visits a free beach and is offended that is their own fault, but if we knowingly go out of our way to expose them to our nudity, that is our fault and does no good for the goal of public acceptance. Here in Michigan, there are no free beaches. Some people have nudist activities on federal lands, but, generally, in Mich. the law states that nudism is legal only when practiced in facilities that are shielded from public view. This is an extremely conservative area, so progress is slow, but there is progress. There are a lot fewer faces that get a shocked look when someone says the word "nudist", so acceptance is gaining little by little. I would hate to see that progress jeopardized by some idiot answering the door nude and offending someone. Word of that kind of negative action spreads much faster than positive publicity, so I believe all who do not reside in a nudist resort/club etc. should never answer the door nude.

I am not an artist, have never posed and have never studied art, so I write from a total lack of first hand experience. Having said that, it seems to me that regardless of what you may feel is the essence of your pose, the artist is obligated to himself to paint/draw his interpretation of what he sees. I was involved for many years in the performing arts, as an amateur, and it was the the same there. No two performers will play the same role, sing the same song, or dance the same dance the same, they each have their own interpretation, and all of them are valid. I am not speaking of quality, just validity. In the same way, each person who views the finished product will react differently. Many years ago I was privileged to see the "Adoration of The Magi" and was totally blown away, yet I am completely untouched by the works of Picasso. I'm not dissing Picasso, I don't have the credentials for that, he's just not my cup of tea. I guess what I'm trying to say is it seems to me that it is up to the artist, not the model, to determine what is the essence of the pose, and it will be different for each one.

Hello Nudesouth. My name is Mike and I have been a practicing nudist for 28 years. before that I was a closet nudist for most of my life. Yeah, the thought crosses my mind occasionally that, "hey, I'm naked, and so are all these other people, some of them total strangers." but it is usually in the context of how great it feels. I doesn't feel wrong, most definitely feels natural, and doesn't feel even a little bit naughty because there is absolutely no sexual activity. The first time I went to a nudist club, it only took about ten minutes until it felt completely natural and I lost all awareness of nudity, that is, until I went into the swimming pool. Oh, what a marvelous sensation that was, and that feeling never completely left me. I get it every time I go swimming now, and I haven't owned a swimming suit in years. Yes, you will continue to be aware of the nudity, but it won't really penetrate your consciousness because it is the norm. I hope I have helped a little.

Hi Drea, let me also welcome you to NCH. What all these people have been telling you is spot on. Some undesirables will undoubtedly show up from time to time as those people have the wrong ideas about nudism, thinking it is all about sex. I have been going to the same club for 28 years and know of only one incident in all that time. A man was paying an inordinate amount of attention to children. He was escorted to the gate and blacklisted, which means the incident was reported to AANR (it was still ASA at that time). We nudists take care of our own because, other than for common decency, if we don't the life style will deteriorate into what so many already think it is. If you join clothesfree.com you will see on all their news shows that "wholesome family nude recreation" is the prevalent theme. Brian is a straight up guy, although I don't know how he finds the time for all that he's involved in, and he won't tolerate any crap on this site. It's not only NOT about sex, it's really not about being naked, but about being comfortable with who you are, and being comfortable with other people. Acceptance, in a word. Acceptance of self and acceptance of others. Being nude is just the best way to find that acceptance. Again, welcome to the club, stay happy and stay naked.

Many years ago I took a course in programming in BASIC and we used the Radio Shack TRS 80s, better known as "Trash 80s". In those days computers didn't have hard drives. Anything you wanted to use, including whatever form of DOS, was on a 5 inch floppy disk. It was still amazing what could be done on them. I read somewhere that todays PCs have more computing power than all of the computers that were on board the capsules in any of the Mercury or Apollo space missions, and I read that back when Pentium 500s were state of the art, lol.

Luxor, here are some things you might try. No guarantees, as I was never able to get my wife to try it, but most of these were not available then, or I wasn't aware of them. First, go to the "naturistsociety.com" site, click on resources, and download "205 Arguments in Favor of Naturism". Print them out, and just leave them laying around and she just might read them. Second, go to "http://sunnydaynew.bravehost.com/"
and ask her to read some,or better yet, all of Sunny's stories. Third, join "clothesfree.com" and ask her to watch some of their videos. I particularly like show # 232. Many ladies on these videos share their experiences, and the reasons they decided to try nudism, and the one thread that is common (and stressed) throughout all of them is that this is about wholesome family oriented nude recreation, and in some shows it gives some of the pros to raising children as nudists. Above all, don't be pushy. If she comes around, it has to be because she is comfortable with the idea or at least with the idea of giving it a try or even just a look-see. Any step forward is reason for hope. Good luck man, I wish you well.

I can easily understand some people being uneasy about posting nude pictures of themselves. If it could be guaranteed that no one except genuine nudists/naturists would view this site it would be different, but the curiosity seekers and the thrill seekers make it difficult for some people to do that.

Re same sex marriage. I met my wife when we were both involved in amateur theater. There are always gays and lesbians around in the arts. Why, because they are accepted for who they are, not for what they do. I don't know if any of the people I am currently in contact with is gay or not, and I don't care. Yes, the old testament says that the gay lifestyle is an "abomination in the eyes of the Lord." Both the old and new testaments make it abundantly clear that ALL sin is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord, and, since we are all sinners it ill behooves any of us to judge another. What someone does with his or her life is between them and whatever deity they acknowledge, if any, as long as it harms no one else. Each of us has enough to worry about with our own sins without worrying about someone elses, I know I do. Be kind to all, judge none, and help whenever you are able to.

Both sides of the issue have some good points as noted by Nudist 1. I, too, get a little upset when I see people clothed in a nudist area, but it happens so rarely at the club I go to that it's not worth taking any action, or there is a good reason for it, such as sunburn. The club I go to is C/O with mandatory nudity only in the pool and jacuzzi. It works well with newbies to give them a chance to get used to the idea of being nude, and to reach the point of feeling a little foolish because they are the only clothed ones. It might be worth considering letting first timers have one day of C/O to acclimate, then nude only.

I truly appreciate your input, guys, but his condition is quite severe (I'm not saying yours aren't, not at all, but he has the Dr.s puzzled.) He has degenerative joint disease in his spine. He is only 42 yo but already has 3 vertebrae fused, 2 titanium rods in his spine held in place with six two and a half inch screws, and is still in extreme pain. He has a tens unit, but it does little for him, plus the electrode patches (hypo allergenic) tear up his skin. He is soon to receive an implant of a pump that will inject morphine directly into the spine every so often. Since it is injected locally and not systemically it should not make him fuzzy headed like the oxy-contin did. We have seen a video of other patients who have had this and we have a lot of hope for it. He has been going to a pain clinic once a month for about a year, and they give him a shot that helps for 3 or 4 days, but cannot be given any more often. They are the ones who got him the tens unit and are arranging for the morphine pump. Please pray for him. He has been unable to work since Sep. '05, so it's been a doubly rough time for him and his wife as she is totally disabled so also cannot work. I'll pray for relief from back pain for you guys. Thanks again.

Andy, being an old veteran I agree with you right down the line. It must me noted, however, that our armed forces survived desegregation in 1948, they survived the suspension of the Selective Service System, the conversion to an all volunteer service, they survived allowing women to serve in combat or close combat support, and we can only hope and pray that they will survive this. We must hope, of course that the gay men and women who serve now and in the future will realize that service is not only a duty, it is also a privilege. We must also hope that in basic training they will absorb the values of the respective services, which are all very similar. I have seen young African Americans who were thugs on the streets of Philadelphia come out of basic training with a new found sense of self worth, a new found sense of responsibility, and a new found sense of pride in themselves as valuable members of a team. The team, the core of the military, whether it is an army or marine core combat infantry squad, a "watch" on a naval vessel, or an Air Force "flight". And not just a few, but virtually all of them (approx 35) in my unit. I have to hope that the young, gay, men and women who serve will have the same results. That training is pretty persuasive. If it does not work, there is always the UCMJ and the catch-all "Conduct Unbecoming a Member of the Armed Forces".

I'm not a collector or a restorer but I have a suggestion some of you might benefit from. If you ever have the time to spend several day "rummage shopping" you might think about visiting Sherman County, Oregon. That is wheat country, and I grew up there in the '40s and 50's. Those farmers (they called themselves ranchers as many of them also ran beef herds.) Used mostly Caterpillar crawler tractors, but some used International Harvester crawlers, about the same size as a Cat D6. I'm aware of the sizes as my dad was a diesel mechanic at the local Cat franchise. One man also had an Oliver crawler tractor, about the same size as a D2. One summer I worked on a hay farm where we used a JD. I don't know the year or model number, but it was a 2 cylinder with an electric starter. The problem was it had a dead battery so we had to start it by turning the flywheel. It also had a vent cock on each cylinder, and we'd open both vent cocks before turning the flywheel several times. Then we'd close one vent cock and turn it again. It would start on one cylinder, puh-whee-puh-whee-puh-whee. Then we'd close the other vent cock and it would run normally pug-puh-puh I'm sure you JD men know the sounds. In the mid 50s a friend of mine was hired to clean out a huge pile of trash behind one man's barn. He found a '36 Ford pickup in there, and the man sold it to him for $10.00. He bought a battery, pumped up the tires, and drove it out of there and home. Anyway, if you visit some of those ranches you could come up with some real gems, either in parts or complete units. Good luck.

When you visit a nudist venue you probably noticed that some people are heavy, some are thin, some are in between, some have scars, etc. but weren't bothered about it. They (we) all look different, but that doesn't mean anything. We men can see a lovely young lady and appreciate her beauty without wanting to have sex with her, and so it is with everyone. Anyone, male or female, who is unselfconsciously naked is beautiful, and the more they are enjoying it the more beautiful they are. Very few, if any, have perfect bodies. As the saying goes, we all have warts. When you realize these things, and it usually doesn't take very long, negative self-image thoughts just fade away.

You're right, Joru. Nothing that we can ever do in, by, or of, ourselves can ever make us worthy of salvation. Any good things we do, any good things that we have, or just enjoy, come only through God's loving grace. It is when we turn our backs on that grace that we sin. But when we truly repent, and do all that is in our power to never commit that same sin again, that is when we receive forgiveness. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I don't believe the message can be repeated too often.

Strictly nudist probably works very well in areas where acceptance is high, but c/o has its uses. I live in an extremely conservative are, several denominations have their national or world headquarters here, and nudism is frowned on to put it nicely. The club I have been going to for 28 years is c/o, nudity mandatory only in the swimming pool and the hot tub. For many people it is very difficult to get a significant other to come out and try it, but when they can say, come out, see what it's all bout, and you don't have to undress until and unless you want to, it's much easier to convince them. In fact (true story) on my first visit (my very first visit to a nudist venue) I met a young lady who had come out with her boyfriend but was determined that she wasn't taking her clothes off.
She volunteered to help in the kitchen so she wouldn't be bored. The temp was in the 90s with high humidity, and it wasn't long until her clothes were soaked with sweat, and the pool started looking mighty inviting, and she finally took the plunge. Now this young lady was a little on the large side, but still very pretty, a true BBW. Like many of us, she had body image issues. I met her about an hour after she took the plunge, and she told me "It only took ten minutes or less until I realized that everything my bf said was true. No one stared, no one made pointed remarks, and it felt soooooo wonderful!" I don't know how things worked out with her and her bf, but I have seen her there many times. I'm not sure how this would apply to a nude community, except that it would have to start small, and this is one way to help it build, to convince skeptics.

I agree. Remember, scarcely a century ago a woman with bare arms or legs got the same reaction that bare breasts get today. To bare arms or legs was considered indecent exposure, and women were arrested for such shamelessness. Many men and women, even textiles, are very accepting of it now, and their number grows daily. Of course, there are those few who will never accept it, but their numbers are small, and they cannot thwart the majority forever.

Little Johnny is not an Obama fan

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.

Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not an Obama fan."

The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a fan of Obama?" Johnny said, "Because I'm a Republican."

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican. Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican."

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom were a moron and your dad were an idiot, what would that make you?"

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me an Obama fan."

Just because Osama hated Sadam it wouldn't stop him from using Sadam.
Having said that, I'm going to bow out of this debate that I unintentionally started and let you have the last word. My intentions were to simply point out that all republicans do not hate Obama, in fact, most republicans do not hate him. Those who seem to hate him are the politicians in D.C. who are grandstanding, a political ploy which I believe will come back to bite them you know where because rank and file republicans hate it as much as democrats do. We want to see cooperation on both sides of the aisle.
One republican of note who does not hate the president is Senator John McCain. If you recall, at one of his campaign appearances a lady in the crowd started ranting, calling Obama an Arab, etc. McCain's response was "No maam, he's an honest, hard working American who I happen to disagree with.
I firmly believe that every senator, every congressman in office today, and for several decades now, is more concerned with making a good showing so he/she can be re-elected, not with what is best for America.
The B.S. runs extremely deep on both sides of the aisle.

I truly wish you wouldn't paint all republicans with the same brush. Many of us have the same respect for others that you do. As for a hate Obama campaign, well that's just politics as usual. I don't personally know anybody who hates Obama. But I do remember right after 9/11 when Bush made his speech about a war on terrorism, "any country that practices terrorism is our enemy, and any country that harbors terrorists is our enemy". The whole world cheered that speech, but when he put those words into action he was reviled and the liberal press waged a hate Bush campaign for the rest of his administration. Yes, Sadam Hussein was harboring terrorists, several Al Quaida training camps were found in the desert there, and WMDs WERE found. Not as many as expected, and they were older models, but still capable of killing tens of thousands of people. You want to talk hatred, read the newspapers of the G.W. Bush years.

I joined this group to respectfully offer a little perspective from the other side of the aisle. I am a conservative but in the last ten or so years I have become very disappointed (disgusted) in both parties' refusal to cooperate with each other. This nation was made great because in the past the two parties worked together, each giving a little here, a little there, until the needs of the nation were met. Now they are totally polarized to the detriment of all. Both parties want everything their own way. I, too, do not understand or like the outpouring of hatred for President Obama. I don't like some of what he has done, but nobody, especially those who speak the harshest of him, offers any other ideas. It's all just negaspeak.
I used to be a Kennedy, Johnson, Humphrey democrat, but crossed the aisle sometime in the seventies. The reason in a nutshell; this country cannot support large scale socialism, and that is what the democratic party is pushing. I would love to see some kind of national health care program that would insure that everybody got the care they needed, who wouldn't? What I don't want to see is another huge federal bureaucracy that spends more money on administrative costs than it does on patient care, and I don't want to be forced to purchase insurance out of my meager social security payments. For me, the money just isn't there. Thank you all for allowing me to post this, and for reading it with open minds.

Well said Smokey!! I am 70 yo and have been going to the same club for 28 years. Believe me, if I were a "creepy old perv" I would have been found out and kicked out many years ago. Education is definitely the key, and we need to include in that education the lengths that members and clubs/resorts go to just to avoid having anyone questionable around. It would be better if we could get a couple of younger people involved in educating, like a couple of the nudecasters on CFI, one male, one female. They (CFI)are already doing a fine job of educating anyone who watches their programs, but that audience is most likely predominately people who are already into the lifestyle. Ideally, we could have a team doing that in every state.

I, too, have to agree with fireproof. While I have been a nudist for 28 years, my experience has been limited to three location. Most of the time I have been at the Forest Hills Club, and I've never seen a lot more men than women there. Yes, they allow singles, and there are more single men than women, but not a lot more. Most of the membership are married or couples. However, I think a contributory cause is an ingrained feeling of insecurity (for all of us, not just women) when naked, at least initially. We feel totally defenseless. Part of that comes from the influence of of Queen Victoria. Before her reign, coed public baths were fairly common in western civilization, and if someone were exposed in public nothing was though of it. During the Victorian era, it was common for people to bathe in their underwear so they would not even see themselves naked. If a change of underwear was required, it was done in the dark. Despite the changes in attitudes of the last 40 or so years, some of that feeling hangs on, so deeply ingrained most of us aren't aware of it. Unfortunately, as Fireproof has pointed out, a lot of men, even nudist men, still tend to objectify women, and some aren't even aware that they do it. We all need to help the ladies help themselves by educating those men to the fact that the women in advertising, movies, etc. aren't real, they don't exist. Yes, there are some young people who are well above average in appearance, but we all have warts. Don't look for the warts, just accept every person as an individual, not an object. Yes, when I first got into nudism I noticed the younger, more attractive ladies, but in a very short time I came to realize that everyone is beautiful who is naked and is not self conscious of it, therefore, all became equal. I didn't mean for this to become such a tirade. In a nutshell, I believe the ladies are afraid they will not receive the respect that we all deserve if they go to a nudist venue. Unfortunately, sometimes they are correct.

Unfortunately, in today's world, your assessment of capitalism is correct, and the biggest fault with capitalism is that it breeds materialism, another way of saying greed. Until fairly recently, however, capitalism was based on the simple desire to improve one's lot in life, to be able to stay one jump ahead of the cost of living, and to put a little aside each payday for retirement. Businesses, including large corporations, were satisfied to make a decent profit. Now they want to gouge the public for every cent they can get. Service is an almost forgotten word in the retail world, and money has become their God, their idol, and they definitely do worship that idol. As I said previously, a safety net is necessary for those who cannot work and those who want to work, but for those who would send their daughters into prostitution, well, keeping them on the public dole would not improve their morals. When you write of the Chinese people who do that, you must remember that they have a completely different value system than we do in the west, and the selling of children for any purpose is not immoral in their belief system so you're comparing apples and oranges.

Right On, to use an hippy old phrase. When government removes a persons motivation to work by giving their earnings to those who won't work, that person will eventually cease to work and join the rolls of those getting free handouts. That is why socialism on a large scale will never work, eventually nobody is paying into the system, and the system collapses. The only ones who benefit are the politicians and bureaucrats who are running the system, and even they will lose in the end. Yes, we need a safety net for those who cannot work, and very temporary help for those who want to work, but a welfare state cannot succeed for the reasons mentioned above.

Still, I would never presume to tell anyone, male or female that s/he should shave or wax. It's really up to the individual, and I doubt if anyone does it to impress anyone. After all, nudists have seen it all, what's to be impressed with? It's just like those people who think nudists are exhibitionists. Wrong!!! Exhibitionists expose themselves to shock others. I know some clubs have the 10% single male rule for memberships, but have no limit on single males visiting for a day or weekend. Part of the problem is that no matter how accepting the host is, I still always feel a bit like a fifth wheel as so much activity is planned for couples and families.

You are wasting mental energy worrying about either one. In 28 years of going to the same club I've only seen 2 erections. The first gentleman simply laid face down on his towel until it abated. The second one for some reason had left his towel in the car. He had recent surgery and could not get the incision wet, so he had to wait while his wife went to the car and fetched his towel. He was very nonchalant about it, and so was everyone else. Believe me, no one is standing around taking notes on who swells and who shrinks and how much. Nobody really cares that much except the person it happens to. Keep cool and don't turn it into a show and no one will care. Most people won't even notice.

I will answer your question with a question. Which of the ten commandments does nudity break? Remember, Jesus freed us from Judaic law, the six hundred and thirty some Laws of Moses, so in what way is simple nudity, even co-ed nudity a sin?
I see nudity as a sin only when one gets nude for the purpose of sexually arousing oneself or someone else (becoming a temptation), unless, of course, one is with one's spouse in private.
Christian Naturists arrow Why Be Nude?

Premium Member

Bigbare

Posted: Oct 11, 2010

Why be nude?
Certainly the first thing that comes to mind is personal comfort. It's very exhilarating, especially the first time, to feel a breeze on your skin, all over your body. It is a stress relieving caress by mother nature. The same when you're in the water. I can't describe the feeling of skinny dipping, then getting out of the water and having no wet, clammy swimwear to make me uncomfortable. And it doesn't matter what style the swimwear is, wet fabric clinging to any part of one's body is uncomfortable. It also gives one a truer appreciation of the beauty of the naked human body, in all it's myriad sizes and shapes. Any person who is naked and is totally unselfconscious of it has a beauty beyond compare, the beauty of innocence.
It takes a very short time for the newby nudist to become accustomed to all that bare skin and realize that s/he can be aware of a beautiful person without automatically wanting to jump his/her bones. The totally non-sexual atmosphere in most nudist/naturist venues enables one to realize in a very short time that s/he can view breasts and or genitalia without becoming aroused, yet when one is in private with their special person they are still very sexual beings, as nature intended.
I guess it all really comes back to comfort. Not only the personal physical comfort, but the comfort of being naked with other naked people and no one takes notice of anyone else in a sexual way. Everyone is just themselves, and no one is trying to impress anyone. The social pressure is off.

We lived in Socal when I was a small child, but moved to Oregon when I was 7 (in 1947) and lived there until I enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. The Air Force, in its infinite wisdom sent me to Portland, Oregon for two years, then to Goose Bay, Labrador for a year, and on return to CONUS, sent me to K.I. Sawyer Air Base in Michigan' upper peninsula (where all the yoopers live). When I got out I had no family left in Oregon but had good friends living in Grand Rapids, so I came here in 1964 and have been here since then. I am ready for some year-round WARM! There are so many voices that I have considered great that it's very difficult to single out one of them. The kinds of music that I enjoy are so diverse that it's like apples and oranges. I loved the late Luciano Pavarotti (sp), and, likewise, the late Mario Lanza, who many considered to have the greatest voice of the twentieth century, even though it was untrained. Doris Day's voice was very musical, even when she was just speaking. Celine Dion is fantastic, as is Barbra Streisand. I believe Celine could have been a great opera singer had she chosen to take the years of training that it requires. The late Beverly Sills was also pure pleasure to listen to. No, I'm not an opera buff, but I do appreciate good music of all types. Tony Williams, the original lead singer for The Platters had (has?) a beautiful voice with an impressive range. Roy Orbison likewise a great voice with a fantastic range. My all time favorite male country singer is Jim Reeves who's voice was so smooth and velvety. My all time favorite female country singer was Patsy Cline, although I believe the all time best female country singer is probably Reba. There are so many that I have thoroughly enjoyed that it is impossible to name more than a few.

I grew up believing in Jesus, but in a vague, impersonal way. I didn't truly find Him until my wife and I became active in the local chapter of the 700 Club, which was a marvelous group of people of many different denominations. I have, since then, fallen away from Jesus, and found my way back to Him (or was led back to Him). I look down on no one for being a sinner as we are all sinners, and I am not the least among them. I say that now so that should I offend someone with bad phrasing you will understand that it was a poor choice of wording and not, hopefully, an unchristian attitude.
I have studied, informally, many different denominations, and I believe that all Christians who subscribe to the Apostle's Creed are part of "One holy, catholic, and apostolic church". Yes, even the Roman Catholic Church.
Adam and Eve attempted to cover their nakedness because they were ashamed, not of their nudity, but of their disobedience (their true sin). Nakedness, in many ancient languages was a synonym for vulnerable, and we are all vulnerable to the Lord. Of course, we are also all naked before the Lord, in the modern definition of the word. Nothing is, or can be, hidden from Him.
Every place in the bible that I have found references to nakedness/shame together it has been in the context of illicit sex, extreme drunkenness, or abject poverty. Even today, in some countries, the very poor sit naked in the streets and beg for alms. The Lord also bade Isaiah to remove his clothing and remain naked for three years (Is:20).
Coed nude public baths were commonplace throughout western civilization for many centuries, even in the time of Christ. He never condemned being naked in the view of others, regardless of gender. The Christian churches did not condemn the practice for many centuries either. The Roman Catholic Church has not condemned it yet. The church says only that one must always treat the Temple of God (your body) with the utmost respect. Modesty is not the act of covering ones body, but is the act of treating all bodies, naked or clothed, with respect. Reference is made in scripture to the elders of the Jewish church admonishing their women to not use the public baths with the Roman soldiers. Well, that is just common sense. While I have no objection to anyone seeing my mother, sister, wife, or daughters, or even my granddaughters naked, I would not want them to share a public bath with the soldiers of an occupying army. That would just be asking for trouble, especially in ancient times when the soldiers of a conquering/occupying army did pretty much as they pleased with the local populace.
In short, I find nothing in scripture that condemns nudism/naturism but rather that the practice has been widespread until the time of Queen Victoria. Don't blame the Puritans, Vicky was the one who started it all. In her time people were encouraged to even bathe in their underwear (they called them "small clothes"), to not even see themselves naked. When it was time to replace the underwear, it was done in the dark.
To sum it up, I see absolutely no conflict between true Christian teaching and nudism/naturism. Being naked in front of other people is not a sin, unless you behave in a sinful manner or harbor sinful thoughts.

Conduct unbecoming is probably the most likely article to be used, but you can never foretell the outcome if the person charged gets a good attorney. I see in the news where a federal court has just ordered a lesbian nurse, a major who was forced out under "don't ask don't tell" be reinstated to her previous position because the military failed to prove that her lifestyle was in any way detrimental to her units ability to perform it's mission. The times they are achangin'.

Hat's off to all of you. I served in the active USAF, but have had family members in all services except Coast Guard, and I am extremely proud of each and every one of them. My oldest son did eight years in the Mich. Army Guard. If anyone cares to look up the history of the Guards and Reserves, they will be amazed at the active duty records of these "Week End Warriors". They deserve all the same honors given the "regulars".

Well Done to all in this sub group. We tend to forget that people serve other countries well and honorably, and also make the same sacrificed we and our families do. I had a college prof. a few years ago who had served in the Yugoslav army under Tito.

There are good reasons for keeping a profile private. I live in an extremely conservative area, and it could cost one his/her job, or be the cause of not getting a job. However, I think it would be good if, instead of being totally private, they would post a little background data, i.e. age or approx age, area where they live, not specific city, something like Fla panhandle, or Socal, or central Idaho, marital status, their interests, the kind of nudists they would like to meet on line, etc. I will not attempt to contact someone who puts up no information about themselves, even if they do post a photo. I see a number of people on list who have a picture, but no info, no groups, no clubs and no nude friends listed. Many have not even logged in for many months or longer. I sounds to me like they're on a fishing expedition and didn't catch anything so they cut bait and left. Someone who is genuinely interested in being friends, even just on-line friends, with other nudists shouldn't mind putting out some minimal data.

To Sarasota_Retire:
Actually, the current prevailing negative attitudes about nudity began nearly two hundred years ago. It used to be that co-ed public baths were common in western civilization, and the wealthier people bathed in their chambers served by an attendant who may or may not have been of the same gender. It was also quite common for those people to entertain guests while bathing, also of either or both genders. Women wore very low cut gowns, and if they should laugh or cough and cause one or both breasts to pop out, no one stared, no one pointed and giggled, it was no big deal, she would simply readjust her clothing and carry on with no embarrassment. One person changed all that: A very powerful monarch, Queen Victoria. She wielded great influence, especially throughout Europe where those monarchs who were not related to her feared her power, and we are all aware of the meaning of the phrase "The Victorian Era." People even kept their underwear on while bathing, to to otherwise was considered immoral and scandalous. Thanks, Vicky.

My wife and I met when we were both working (volunteers) in amateur theater, mostly behind the scenes. We knew each other for three years before we were cast as husband and wife in a show, began dating, dated for a month, and were married five weeks later. We were married for 41 1/2 years until her death from breast cancer in May '08.

Why would someone marry another who they knew to be a nudist when the first someone did not intend to ever be a nudist? The answer is love. When you love someone, you willingly allow them to be themselves, even when you don't always agree with them, as long as what they are doing is not illegal or immoral. I was married for 41 1/2 years until my wife passed away. I became an active nudist for the last 26 of those years, and my wife willingly signed a waiver so the two clubs I became involved with would know I wasn't sneaking around behind her back. All she asked was some assurance that both facilities were family oriented. Since both were ASA (this was 28 years ago and they had not changed to AANR) chartered, that was no problem. I likewise bit the bullet when she had activities that held no interest for me. When you love someone, you make allowances or you make problems because no two people will ever have exactly the same likes and dislikes.

For abisbvd
You might try going to thenaturistsociety.com, clicking on the "resources" tab, and downloading or printing out the essay "205 Arguments in Favor of Naturism". (I may not have the title exactly right, but it's close.) Then ask your wife to read it with an open mind. Don't insist, but if you print it out, eventually she may become curious enough to read it. It is human nature, if you try to force someone to do something, they will dig their heels in. You could also ask her to go to a clothing optional facility where she could see the actual lifestyle without having to disrobe herself unless and until she is ready. If you stay very long, she may very likely take the plunge. I can recommend the Forest Hills Club in Saranac, MI. It's a small, member owned club, and has some of the nicest, friendliest people in the world. There may be some c/o facilities closer to you, but if not, give FHC a try. Good luck!

I leave my watch in the car as FHC has clocks all over the place. That way I won't forget and wear it in the pool or hot tub. I have no rings, so all I wear is a smile, or a brief grimace if I step on something sharp, which is rare.

I went skinny dipping as a youth, and was caught once by my mother, and once by my mother and sister.
Mom was cool, but sis, of course, had to tease a little. I reminded her that she wouldn't have thought it was very funny if I had caught her in the nude, and then she stopped, knowing I was right.
My first time as an adult: I live in the Grand Rapids, MI area, and had a job in 1982 that required me to go to a meeting in Detroit once a month. The meeting ended very early one month, so I decided to check out Forest Hills on the way home. The place was totally dead, but the man that greeted me told me everyone was resting up after hosting a convention the previous week-end. He took me to the office and checked me in, then he and his wife invited me to their little tear-drop trailer for coffee. It was a little strange the first time I shared the outdoor shower with a lady I had never seen before, but, as you know, the strangeness wears off quickly. From then on, I have gone there every chance I get, and was even a member for a while. Can't afford it now, but still love the place. Great place, great people.

I have been retired for 8 years, but have always imagined many other people naked in non-sexual situations, and they frequently weren't what is commonly accepted as young and beautiful. I personally feel that when a person is naked, and totally unselfconscious of it, their true, natural beauty comes out. I've often regretted that I have no natural talent for drawing or painting. If I did, I would be the world's most prolific sketcher/painter of nudes of both genders and all ages and physical appearances.

It seems impossible to find any major films or videos with wholesome nudity in them. I was fortunate in being able to see "Educating Julie" some years back, but can't afford to buy all those videos, and video stores don't stock them as, apparently, they can't get a good (bulk or wholesale) price on them. The motion picture "The Proposal" had a hilarious nude scene with Sandra Bullock, but no overt sexual activity. I enjoyed it very much. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it wholeheartedly. Funny flick!!!
It would be nice if the producers of the genuine nudist/naturist videos would make them available to the video stores at a discount. It could result in many more people becoming interested in the nude lifestyle, or, if already interested, give them the little push they need to actually come out of the closet and try it at a club, park, camp, resort or nude beach. How about it producers?

I remember a postcard from my youth which showed a rather large, take charge type women coming into a service station saying "Rest room hell, I aint tired, where's the can?". The word "can" came from pre-plumbing days. People who couldn't afford the ceramic bowl (called a thunder mug) kept a can under or near the bed for cold night emergencies.

Most of my solo experience has been at the Forest Hills Club near Saranac, MI. It has all been positive. I began going there when my wife was still alive, and the kids were all still at home. My wife was never a nudist, but had no problem signing a waiver for me once she was assured (brochures, etc.) that it was a family oriented facility. I have always been treated well there, never made to feel like an outsider. In the 28 years that I have been going there, there have also been a number of single ladies in attendance (some are still there as full members) and I never saw any of them treated disrespectfully. I also visited the club at Grainger, Indiana many years ago (So long ago I forgot the name), and the now textile Sunshine Gardens in Battle Creek with the same results. Of course, we all live by the basic rule of nudism; Your behavior should never require an apology. I would like to assure all single ladies that if you go to a facility (club, camp, or resort) that is chartered by AANR you will probably never have a problem.
