| I am sometimes obsessed with being nude, but that is diminishing over time. For example, I shun shoes because I want to be as nude as possible, even if I risk foot injury. Burned my feet at Cypress Cove on a summer day. Now I grudgingly wear minimalist sandals when the asphalt is too hot. My feet have become very tough. | |

| I use all the terms interchangeably. There is a joke- Nude is not wearing any clothes. Nekkid is not wearing clothes, and being up to something. | |

| The country would be a better place. Even textiles would benefit. It would counter the mass-media ideal of what we should look like, and stop the idea that nudity=sex. And I would go nude almost everywhere. | |

| My only reason for visiting a resort was to find a safe place to hike nude. I enjoy nude hiking in public parks but never felt safe and worried about park rangers. I thought all nudist places would have a nature trail, it seemed natural to me. Now I know most do not have nature trails. At the first resort I went to I was able to walk around the residential area. I eventually found a resort that has a nature trail and have been a regular there ever since. Now I also enjoy other aspects of nudism, such as socializing, pool, hot tub, sports, etc. ( Moderator Nudies1962 replies) OLT my home club has something like 17 miles or crisscross trails on about 400 acres. I love the safety aspect of your reason. So very true! | |

| I for one get tired of hiding myself behind resort walls or in my home. Living life nude, including in public, is a fantasy of mine. Why is it wrong to walk down the sidewalk nude? Why should I need clothes to shop at WalMart? Has nothing to do with being noticed. If anyones nudist credibility is to be questioned, I would question those that are ok with hiding. | |

| I do artistic nude photography as a hobby (also landscapes, etc). Like any art, it is about whatever the artist is trying to convey. Artistic nudes are usually not about sex or being provocative. It can be about natural shape and form (clothes distract from the natural human form), it can tell a story, or just be cool. Here is one of my favorites- http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/579813_388316814570468_1287641783_n.jpg | |

| Criminals and madmen dont obey rules. Gun free zones are an invitation for criminals and madmen to rob and kill. Gun free zones are magnets for massacres. The NRA is right about one thing- only another gun can stop an armed madman. | |

| The general idea behind life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness is that we are supposed to be free to pursue those things as long as they do not infringe on another's life or liberty. Thus, you can not kill because you are violating another's right to life. You can not steal because you are violating anothers liberty. Being nude does not violate anyone elses rights or harm anyone else. No one has a right to force you go wear something. They only have rights to themselves, not you. Our founding fathers were very Libertarian by today's standards. People today don't realize how unfree they are. | |

|
| The resort I go to used to be a fun and free place "back in the day". As they have aged now they have what I call a culture of complaining. People mind each others business and complain about everything. If a group is doing something fun, like dancing, all it takes is one complaint to shut it down. So activities consist of quiet things that appeal to the elderly. Young people? Sorry, no fun allowed. The residents are nudists but definitely not free spirits. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| First, nude only (weather and health permitting). It bugs me people who I have never seen naked at the club. Why are they there? I like the "one member of couple or group will have to be nude." idea though. Rustic, with cabins, a decent restaurant, bar, pool, hot tub, sauna, sports, lake. Lots of nature trails. Fun activities that cater to a wide variety of ages and likes. | |

| You just have to be careful, make sure textiles or security cameras are not around. Rural areas are best. I also do artistic nude photos and have many photos from public parks. Just have to be careful. I disagree with anti-nudity laws but have no desire to be arrested. | |

| Smokey, the Bill of Rights is not an exclusive list of our only rights. James Madison was against a Bill of Rights, he felt it was unnecessary because the inalienable rights were obvious and the government limited. Some people might think those were the only rights we had. They are not. True, nudity is not in the BoR. Neither is eating, bathing, or nose picking. Those things are not privileges, they are rights. They are inalienable rights. Your body belongs to YOU, not any government. YOU choose what to eat, when to sleep, when to bathe. YOU choose what to wear or not wear. As for what the courts say, courts once upheld slavery and discrimination. Courts are wrong sometimes. Laws are wrong sometimes. If a law is made against an inalienable right, the law is wrong. The right always exists- it is inalienable. If you want tyranny, passively accept every government usurpation of your rights. If you want freedom, peacefully work to repeal laws which violate your rights. It's your choice. | |
| Nudist Individuals |
|
| Smokey, you are comparing nudity to yelling fire in a theater? Do you view nudity as something hazardous or dangerous to others? Falsely yelling fire in a theater is a hazard to life and property. People can die in the resulting rush for the exit. No one has ever been harmed by seeing anothers naked body (despite the dramatic exaggerated claims of textiles). Laws against nudity are victimless crime laws, and would be regarded as anathema by our founding fathers. The current gymnophobia of society is a relatively new thing. There were few if any laws against public nudity at one time. Our founding documents are clear that rights come from God, not government and not any court. Nudity is an inalienable right. Your body belongs to YOU not the government. When the government passes laws that trample your inalienable rights it is your duty as a citizen to peacefully fight against that law. | |

| Exhibitionism is defined as a perversion in which sexual gratification is obtained from the indecent exposure of one's genitals to a stranger. Standing next to a sign or monument in public for an innocent "I was here naked" photo is not exhibitionism. | |
| Nudist Individuals |
|
| I've been known to do that. I call them "I was naked here" photos. I believe nudity is a right, and posing for those photos is a way of briefly asserting that right. Also, it's fun. I'm sure other people have other motivations. | |

| Public nudity is a right and was common early in our nations history. Nude swimming was mandatory at the YMCA many years ago. Several Presidents enjoyed swimming nude in the Potomac River. Some founding fathers were fond of nude recreation. Ben Franklin used to take a naked "air bath" every day. We have a fundamental right to wear or not wear whatever we want on our bodies. | |

| I've seen couples in the club pool doing foreplay, with children a few yards away. Which is worse, a single guy admiring a beautiful woman or a couple having sex in front of kids? I'm single, yes I look, it's natural to do so. People who have a problem with others seeing their naughty bits should probably not be nudists. Just say'en... | |

| I would love to see a nudist civil rights movement, modeled after other civil rights moments. But I dont think we will see one. De-criminalizing simple nudity would be a huge step. But as we saw in SanFran, a few can ruin it for the many. Many nudists I know are perfectly happy to wear clothes. It's not a big deal to them. Nudists like myself, who truly hate clothes and having to wear them, seem to be a minority within a minority. That's ok, different strokes for different folks. Dont look to AANR. It is simply not relevant anymore. A person like UK "naked rambler" Steve Gough may raise awareness. | |

| I would love to know how sunbunny (or anyone else) is able to "live nude". For example, how do you go shopping without getting arrested? Or are you only nude in your home/resort... This is a textile world. Unless you are hiding away in a resort somewhere, you are not living nude. Sorry, had to call BS on this elitist silliness. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| I agree with the quote. Something about being nude in nature, feeling the ground with my bare feet, and the wind with my whole body, is just RIGHT. I hate being insulated by clothes. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| This topic is a rather elitist question. Most people have to work for a living and many people can not afford to live in an overpriced trailer in a resort. That's not an excuse, it's reality. It's also a reality that laws prevent people from living nude lives. Except in the aforementioned overpriced resort or on a large private property. Not all nudists are wealthy retired folk (although it seems that way sometimes). | |

| Earlier this year I visited the Ringling Museum in Sarasota Florida. The place is filled with nude statues of men and women, mostly men. Yet children walk around them and no one gets upset or offended. The parents and kids dont care. But if I were nude in the same place, just standing there, women would shriek, kids eyes would be covered, and the police would be called. That is insane. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| I think it's a nuanced thing. When nude I prefer to be around people who are also nude. When I see people in a resort wearing clothes it bothers me a bit. You could say I want to see them naked. But not for any lewd intent. But I do not go to resorts and beaches for the purpose of seeing naked people or being seen. I go there to be naked myself, because I enjoy it. But being with like minded people is good too. The difference is the intent. | |
| Absolute Naturists |

| Nudism started with the goals of fitness and self improvement. Now nudism is about acceptance and tolerance. Nothing wrong with that. But maybe nudism has been redefined too much and we need to get back to the original goals. | |

| The AANR club I visit regularly is basically a retirement park. Few young or working age people live or visit. They dont really do anything that I've seen to change that. |
| Nudony, I predict that nudism as it currently exists will be extinct in a generation. The old-timers are dying off and there are fewer youngsters to replace them. Younger people have different expectations and values than older people. Nudism can adapt or die. I expect the "new nudism" to be more free (fewer rules) and healthier. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| Yeah, FP, being condescending to young people is a great way to welcome them into the lifestyle. LOL. "Those darn young whippersnappers and their zest for life! Dagnabbit!" LOL. If you want young people to accept YOU, you must accept THEM as well. You were young once, remember? Maybe not. And getting older does NOT mean loosing athleticism. That attitude is one reason why we have an obesity problem. Is nudism a healthy lifestyle? Prove it! Get healthy, make the stereotype wrong. And yes I get picked on for being skinny MORE than obese people at my resort. It is verboten to talk badly of obesity but perfectly acceptable to do so about skinny. Makes me self-consious sometimes. Cant blame young/skinny/atheletic people for leaving when they are made to feel uncomfortable. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| FP. The obesity rate is about 37%. Look around your nudist park sometime, I bet you'll find it around 50%. Again, we can be tolerent and accepting. I treat everyone by who they are not by what they look like. But that does not change the reality. Heck I get picked on for being skinny. If nudism is a healthy lifestyle, lots of people didnt get the memo or dont have enough self-worth to treat their bodies better. As for being "put off by looking at granma naked", I was refering to young textiles. Like it or not it's a textile world. They make the rules. Want to attract new nudists or a younger crowd? Good luck with that. People like to hang out with their generation, and who have things in common with. Will a 22 year old athletic new nudist feel comfortable in a sea of elderly lethergy? Or might they think "the stereotype is true" and move on? Older people sometimes forget what it was like to be young. ;) | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| The stereotype of nudists is true. Most are elderly, fat, and not pleasant to look at. We nudists can say "that doesnt matter" all we want, but it does matter to most textiles, and young adults dont want to see grandma naked. AANR seems to find the most unhealthy and/or elderly people available to put in its newsletter. I'm not being judgmental, I'm speaking the truth and y'all know it. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| When talking about nudism with textiles I always have to explain that not all nudists are the same. Here in Florida we have nudist places to suit anyone, from naturist to concrete-jungle, from family friendly to public sex. But the different groups also mingle. | |

| I fail to understand people who wear anything (including sarong, pareo, etc) in a nudist place. A fashion choice? In a nudist place? Gimme a break. Body acceptance is part of nudism. You dont develop body acceptance by hiding and making excuses. Some days it seems the clothed people outnumber the nude people at my club. Something is wrong, and I dont like it. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| The nudists from days of lore got older, settled down, and forgot what it's like to be young. They are turning resorts into nudist retirement homes. People dont want to hang out with their (naked) grandparents it seems. With no one to replace them, as they die off they are taking nudism with it. | |

| "Clothing optional" is really "nudity optional" in practice. It baffles me why people visit (or live in) a nudist place and wear clothes. They are obviously not nudists. Why be there? If it's cold, clothes are obviously allowed. Other than that get naked or leave should be the policy. I dont care about being "friendly" to clothed voyeurs. It's a place for nudists. Get naked or GTFO. | |

| Nudism has all but destroyed my dating prospects. Most nudist women are already coupled, elderly, lesbian, or just not my type. Textile women often react badly to male nudists. | Nudists have accepted second-class citizen status. Some live in segregated communities or hide themselves in their own homes. We fear for our jobs if anyone finds out *gasp* we dont like to wear clothes. Nudists can learn alot about activism from LGBT and race groups. They enjoy protected-class status because of their activism. I grow more and more weary of timid nudist groups. I was born a nudist, and it is a civil right to wear (or not wear) what I want. Which is why I voted against the current AANR leadership too. They should rename it "AARN" American Association of Retired Nudists. I'm Libertarian politically. As such, anti-nudity laws are blatantly unconstitutional, IMHO. How can a government force you to wear something on your body? Does your body belong to the government? We may pursue life, liberty, and happiness, so long as it does not harm another. Some may be offended by nudity, but there is no right to be free from offense. Nudity is freedom. Government, keep your laws off my body! | |

As for a definition of "harm", neither BillBowser nor myself are claiming harm. Logically, only those who are claiming harm can define what it is. Thus far they have been unable. The home is near the nature trail. While I was walking the trail they saw me and I saw them working. On my return trip I found some of the workers on the trail looking at the flora. We exchanged friendly greetings and I continued my walk. A great way to teach what nudism is about is to allow textiles to see us being who we are (in an appropriate setting). If I hide or cover around textiles, what does that teach? | |

| Nothing offensive about nudity. When I am at a resort, and textiles are present (garbage collection, construction workers, cable-tv installers, etc) I make no attempt to cover myself. I'm in a nudist park and I'm supposed to be nude. Textiles can deal with it. | |

| Several of our Forefathers enjoyed skinnydipping in the Potomac. Ben Franklin is famous for his nude "air bathes" in the sunlight through the windows of his apartment. Here is the email of that commissioner- district4@hamiltoncountyflorida.com Feel free to drop him an educational email. Be nice! | |

| FP, If you dont like our free society, you are free to move to a less free one. Do that, rather than limit the freedom of others. SEE THAT???....that was the BS Flag being thrown back at you! ROTFLMNAO | |

| Before I visited my first resort I was a "home nudist", but I did not consider myself to be a nudist. I thought nudists were these crazy people who ran around naked all the time. I had little desire to be nude around other people. Then after visiting a resort it was like a switch went in my head. I loved it! Then I knew I am a nudist, I am one of those crazy people. What is a nudist then? It's a state of mind. I was in a different state of mind as a "home nudist". Now I fully embrace nudism. | |

| I sleep nude on top of my covers. Sometimes I will slip my feet under the covers. In the winter Im under the covers but still nude. | |

| I'm John and have been a nudist since February. Guess I'm a newbie-nudie. I hang out at Lake Como in Florida. | |

| Most people would continue to go clothed. Many people just have no interest in going nude. I would love to shop at the mall or Walmart nude. But consider the harassment we might get from textiles in public. At a nude resort, fellow nudists are tolerant of different types of people. That is not the case in the textile world. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| Well, if San Francisco is clothing optional... I'm moving to SF! Amateur nudists should observe the same rules as regular nudists, like sitting on towels. I have no issue with making it law. Seems like a fair compromise to be nude in the city. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| I've never seen kids running wild at a nudist place. They seem better behaved than kids at textile places. | |
| Absolute Naturists |
|
| FireProf, I have experienced the same thing. A young woman I work with was interested in visiting a resort. I told her there are people of all ages there. She said "I hope there are no children. I dont think I could do that." I explained that they are nudist-children, and she dosnt have anything they havnt seen before. Still, she lost interest. It's a big taboo. | |

| Even in Florida, it gets too cold to be nude outside. This will be my first winter as a nudist, dont know what I am going to do. | |

| I think it's awesome that familys can enjoy nude recreation. Makes me wish I had been raised in a nudist environment. When I first became a social nudist I was a bit afraid of being around nude children. It's a taboo, more so than nudity in general. Over time I got over that, and now have no issues with family nudism. | |

| FireProf- We would smile, maybe even pose. There are photographers that specialize in just that kind of photography. Street photography and event photography. If I were nude I would not care either. I'm not ashamed of being nude or being seen by people. If they use them for profit, I would demand a cut of the money. Note that some zoos, parks, and events, on the back of their tickets, say that you waive rights to your image by entering. Then they have photographers working and use shots for promoting the place. | |

|
| Photographing people is rude but... Legally, in a public place you have no expectation of privacy. Anyone can legally photography anyone or anything in public. Private beaches or resorts have rules about photography. What's wrong with being nude? Are you ashamed? There are already nude photos of me online. If some weirdo gets off on them... that's his/her problem. | |

| I already posted, but I want to elaborate on my "click" moment. I think there was two clicks. The first was my first social nude experience. I was nervous, took off my clothes in the car, and walked off into the resort. I'm skinny, but have a gut, so I sucked in my gut. Then I saw nude people of all shapes and sizes. CLICK. I relaxed my gut and realized I can just be myself. Later on I was walking around the resorts residences. I looked down and realized "I'm naked in a residental area, and no one cares!" CLICK. I was hooked. I am a nudist. | |

| Kids in nudist familys should be raised as such, but given the freedom to cover up when they wish. At resorts, kids seem to go covered away from the pool. Teens are almost universally clothed. | |

| Here are two good ones- "If you want to talk about open mindedness, take off your clothes." - Michael E. Maconnell. "To be offended by the visual appearance of another person is prejudice, akin to racism. The right to exist, uncovered, should hold precedence over the right not to view this, for the objection is irrational." - Terri Webb. | |

| I spent my last vacation at at Lake Como and Cypress Cove. In seven days, the only time I wore clothes was the 1:30 drive (wearing only shorts) from Como to Cove. It was great not wearing clothes 24/7! When I finally had to get dressed to go home, clothes were so uncomfortable they hurt a little. | |

| I spend most weekends at Lake Como. It's great to relax. I'm dreading the winter when it will be too cold to go nude. | |

| I have one of the Cypress hotel rooms reserved soon at Lake Como, but am considering changing it to one the Lake View rooms (11,13,15,17). Has anyone who has stayed in both advise which is better, Cypress or Lake View? | |

| Here in Florida it seems the media only pay attention to the clothing-optional "nudist" swinger clubs, not the real aanr nudist clubs. The only news stories seem to be negative. | |

|
| Absolutely! My last vacation I spent 7 days nude. After getting dressed to return home I realized, clothes not only were uncomfortable but they kind of hurt! I wanna be free! | |

| To me an Absolute-Naturist is in contrast to a Hobby-Naturist. As a hobby one lives textile but may visit a club or beach occasionally. I live nude as much as I can, I visit my local club as often as possible. I talk to others about nudism. I would shop at the mall nude if it were legal. I'm a Absolute-Naturist, not a hobbyist. | |

| Those are good ideas to start. Como has a grassy field near the vollyball area that would be good for a softball game. How about a naked softball game? Maybe ask two local teams to play an "exhibition" game if possible. They could buy a Wii game system and have naked Wii gaming in the rec hall. Take any wholesome youth-oriented activity, add nudity. Advertise. I've considered sending an e-mail with ideas but I doubt they'd care. | |

| How do y'all feel clubs are doing enough to attract younger people, 20-30 years old? As much as I love Lake Como, they dont seem to have a clue about this, or dont care. Few young people = few future nudists. What should clubs do? | |

| I just returned from a three night stay at Cypress Cove. I ate all my meals at Cheeks or the Lakeside. I have to say, the quality of the food is better than last time. It's slightly better than Como in my opinion. Lake Como is still a better value, and the food is still good. | |

| After my first social nude experience 5 months ago. I was thinking "Wow! This is awesome!". I still have that feeling. I thought I might visit a resort every month or so, but I'm addicted and go as often as I can. | |

| I usually hike wearing my hiking boots, but I dont really feel nude unless I'm barefoot. Do you go barefoot when on woodland walks, and what are the hazards? How to minimize the hazards? Snakes, ticks, sand spurs, worms? I hike in Florida. | |

| I'm John, 43, in Tampa Florida, never married. I've been a nudist for only 4 months, but I LOVE it! Seeking a woman, 30-45, to share that passion with, even if only as a friend. My favorite club is Lake Como. I'm a "nice guy" who likes to relax, and appreciates good humor and music. | |

| I really find Cypress Cove to not have much for me. Maybe because I'm single. At Cove I usually hang around the pool. Nothing else for me. Wish they had a nature trail. Lake Comos trail makes it perfect for me, plus it seems like they have more activities. | |

| Lake Como! Como is awesome. Friendly people and plenty to do. Cypress Cove is over rated in my opinion, but it's nice. | |

| Not the cabin. I stayed at the Lakeside Cottage, across from the office. | |

|
| I just spent two days at the Lakeside Cottage at Lake Como. It has a full kitchen, living room, tv, bathroom, and bedroom with king size bed. It is cheaper and more spacious than the Villa Apartment at Cypress Cove. And there's more to do at Lake Como. | |

| I'm on Match.com and am about to give up on it. No women seem interested, and the women there seem to have high expectations of a man they want. I mention nudism in my profile. I figure she is going to find out anyway so why waste her time and mine by not mentioning it. I also say that she would not be expected to participate but should be open minded about nudism. I also mention that I am very shy. Most nudist resorts I visit have older people (I'm 43). Resorts with younger people cater to swingers which I am not interested in. I have now come to the realization that, by becoming a nudist, I have severely limited my potental mate pool. I guess I'm doomed to remain a bachelor. | |

| I've had steak at both. The Cove steak was tough. The Como steak was better and bigger. Neither was as good as Outback Steakhouse, but Outback wont let me eat nude. I had pot roast at Como on Sunday. It came with a big chunk of tender meat, maybe 10 oz, and potatoes and big carrots. Yum. | |
| Pasco Nudists |

| I've only eaten at two clubs, Cypress Cove and Lake Como. In my opinion the food at Lake Como is better than at Cove. Where is the best place you like to eat au naturel? | |

| Thanks very much for the information. Can anyone tell me what the result might be if I do encounter a ranger at a public forest? Will they just tell me to cover up? Will they ticket me? Will they arrest me? | |
| Florida Nudists |
|
| I enjoy hiking, and hiked clothed in various forests before discovering Lake Comos nature trail. But I find I want a longer walk, and am considering a nude hike in the Croom Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest. I've hiked there before clothed and there are few people who use the trails, and have never seen a ranger on the trails. I'm not too concerned about encountering a textile, but dont want to encounter a ranger. Can anyone suggest safe places for a hike like this? What experiences have you had with encounters with textiles on trails? | |
| Florida Nudists |
|
| Lake Como. I love their nature trail. You cant beat hiking naked. Wish more clubs had trails. Second is Cypress Cove. It's very nice but there isnt much for a single male to do there. If Cove had a nature trail it would be the best. | |

| With all the nudists around Pasco this group could be busy if more people knew about it. I know I enjoy shaing my experiences. I had my first nudist experience in February at Gulf Coast. Now I visit Lake Como on the weekends. Been to Cypress Cove and Riverboat once each. | |
| Pasco Nudists |
|
| The clubs cater to a different clientele. Caliente and Paradise cater to swingers and more upscale people. I hear Paradise has really gone down hill recently. Gulf Coast seems to cater to retirees and snowbirds. Lake Como, in my opinion, has the best balance and is affordable. | |
