The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Jan 1, 2011	The nude revolution is going strong! I've been to quite a few events down in Florida and had a blast at each one. Vita Nuda and its sister organization, Florida Young Naturists (the more TNS-based side of the revolution) are throwing multiple events throughout the year now, and they're all loads of fun! There's a good deal of us who are regulars at the events thrown at Cypress Cove and Sunsport Gardens... and I personally drive 8 hours or more to get to them! Especially with the FYN gatherings, which regularly draw over 300 people to the big drum circle, we are promoting and expanding every moment we get!
TV Lovers Best of the New Shows

Currently I'm enjoying Outsourced (I know, I'm surprised I like it, too) and Mike and Molly in the comedy department, and I highly recommend The Event for a good conspiracy/wtf-is-going-on? type thrill.

I actually think it looked pretty cool, though I have a little trouble thinking it fits in with the new movieverse Marvel has established. But nonetheless, I'm really excited for the Thor-Captain America double-shot next summer. Hopefully they'll both end up awesome. And yeah, the Hulk recasting bugs me too.

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Jul 20, 2010	Oh, Facebook... Man, I wish I could be more active as a nudist there, but, alas, it's one of the first places I'm sure employers and the like check. I'm definitely friends with a lot of nudists I know in real life, and I've taken the risk of friending Vita Nuda, but I can never RSVP to the events or post nudist-specific comments on walls and the like because I'm still afraid that someday that may affect a potential career move. Sadness.

I've found this place to be a good one for open and honest discussion, which is why I stick around, although any community is going to have its few exceptions. But I think I like it here. Sorry about that other place.

you're friends aren't nudists?! Convincing friends may be easier than you think!
The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: May 5, 2010	Believe it or not, it may be easier than you think to convince your friends to try nudism. A year ago, I was in the same position many of you probably are right now, but at the end of last summer, I convinced a friend to go with me to the local club and give it a try. And she loved it! Unfortunately, that was the very end of the summer, so we only got back to the club one more time before she went back to school. This summer, we plan to convince many of our mutual friends to also give it a try. Anyway, you may wonder how this all happened. It's actually an amusing story! I was on vacation to Pennsylvania, and I had a spare afternoon, so I had decided to make the drive up to New Jersey to check out Sandy Hook. As I was just leaving, I noticed a fairly recent missed call in my phone. Turns out it was my friend, so I decided to call her back. "Sorry for not answering," I explained. "You're probably going to think this is so me (hah)... I was at a nude beach!" As the conversation continued, I was surprised to hear her say something along the lines of "I'll try anything once. I should try that with you sometime." When I got home from that trip, I cornered her a few days later, proposed going that Saturday (she had to leave a few days after that Saturday), and after answering a few more FAQ's including a few common misconception what-if's to help her not chicken out, we went out that Saturday and had a great time! She enjoyed it so much, she had to get in one more day of it before she went back to school, so we returned that Tuesday, this time also bring her boyfriend (who I think took the whole thing a little more awkwardly but still had a good time), and she was hooked! So, anyway, now that I have a female ally, I hope we can convince a good group of our mutual friends to join the fun this summer. I hope my story helps give more of you some hope! The "just blurt it out" method really does work great with friends you trust!

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: May 3, 2010	Is it that soon? Awesome! As far as I know, this is the first time any company has attempted such an organically connected universe across so many films. As a nerd, I think that's really cool. Crossovers and the like always amuse me. I, too, worry about salaries, but I can only assume all the big name actors are already being paid multiple millions to play their parts, so hopefully their egos don't get too huge... I'm really hoping some of them are starting to love their roles. Robert Downey, Jr., for one, seems to be rocking the Tony Stark role, so I hope he enjoys reprising it for many years to come. And we all know Whedon's going to rock the Avengers. I can't imagine a better person to pull together such great characters onto one screen for epic awesomeness.

As I was looking it up, I did a little research: turns out "Trash" was one of the episodes that never aired during the original run on Fox. It makes me wonder (remember, this was pre-Nipplegate) if the episode would have aired had it been given the chance! Would it have had to be edited? We all know it [i]should[/i] have aired as-is, but what do you think? Have you caught one of the many modern re-runs? I'd love to know what the networks are doing with the episode now!

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Mar 31, 2010	It's very much a scenic, rustic place. Last time I came through, I stayed there overnight in my tent, but I didn't really do much while I was there. I think I wandered the field that is a good portion of the property, I did a lap on the nature trail (which at the time was full of bugs and gigantic spiders), and I may have had a dip in the pool, but I'm not sure. There wasn't much to do there on a non-event weekend, but if you need a place to stop or to just check out in passing, go for it.

Also, I think a specific photoshop category would be cool, too. As for size and format, I prefer to print my images HUGE, but that probably won't effect the judging, since it'll probably be digital scans that make it to the judges. And I think untraditional aspect ratios should be allowed, too. (not sure if you were referring to size or shape in your format suggestion, driver)

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Nov 19, 2009	Yeah, FireProf's pretty much got it... it's best to stick with here, ClothesFree, and NetNude. I don't use NetNude, but by reputation I know it's trustworthy. I stick to only sites that have some sort of affiliation or at least demonstrated support from one of the national organizations... AANR and TNS. Nudist Clubhouse itself is actually a registered AANR non-landed club! So yeah, some of the other sites out there, which I won't list, even though they may look okay on the surface, I still wouldn't trust.

If the place is traditionally nude and there are (were?) signs, I just don't see how this is an issue. All it can do is bring MORE people to the beach, and therefore more revenue and tourism. It is my hope that San Onofre will continue on in a Playalinda-style pretty-much-accepted fashion, just a change in written law.

If I ever decide to do a photo shoot again, I think it'd be fun to try that again instead of just the straight digital color camera. It's so hard to replicate the effect of a photo originally shot in black and white, even with a computer, when you originally shoot digital.

It's articles like these in the mainstream press (hadn't heard of Seattle Weekly, but it sounds mainstream-ish) that help new people realize what nudism has to offer! The only complaint I have about the slideshow is the lack of a youth presence... surely an event called Nudestock at least brings out some of the young ones. We don't want folks thinking nudism is 100% old people when the mix really is great. But thumbs up to this newspaper for not worrying about blurring anything out and just giving an honest look at what appears to be a very fun event at a very cool resort!

If any of you out there don't have a membership yet, it's completely worth your money... you'll save your membership fee in discounts after only a few club visits! That said, I can't believe we lost Paradise Lakes! That is a huge shame on them... I just don't understand why they would even schedule something as blatantly sexual as a g-string competition while still having the AANR membership. At least they, like Caliente, (eventually) decided to voluntarily withdraw from AANR so the choice to re-join is there in the future.

A few of us who had met before at a few Vita Nuda and Florida Young Naturists events decided that we wanted a way to fill the gaps between official Vita Nuda and Florida Young Naturists events, and to keep the young nudist scene going here in Georgia, too. All young nudists (under 30) are welcome, whether or not you actually live in Georgia, so feel free to join us! We hope to get a good group of folks going here so we can hold some awesome events and maybe even get event discounts at clubs. Hope to see you soon!

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: May 29, 2009	One of the best ways to get noticed by other people who already listen to podcasts (a very young community we should definitely be trying to attract) is to have a promo. In fact, promo-trading is pretty standard in the podcasting sphere. I happen to know a good number of podcasting folks, so if we come up with a promo and agree to play other promos on our podcast, this can be a very good way to get the word out. The thing is, we're going to run into a TON of textiles with this promo, so we need to come up with a way that approaches the average Joe and Jane to do this. I'm thinking the script can have a "host talking to average Joe" attitude to it. Maybe something like this: One of our hosts: "Hi, I'm [name], and I'm here to talk to you about the Young Nudist Podcast" "Regular guy": "Wait... wait... nudists? As in NAKED?" Host: "Yep, nudists! We're just folks who love to have a good time and hang out in the nude." Guy: "So wait... you run around naked with everything hanging out for everyone to see?" Host: "Yes, but that's not exactly how we see it. You see, for us, nudity is a relaxing and fun non-sexual way to go about life. We believe that if you just get over society's view of the body as a sexual thing and everybody sheds their clothes and relaxes, everyone can have a wonderful time! It's really a lot less weird than you'd think. Come check out our podcast to hear more if you want." Other announcer or host: "The Young Nudist Podcast is a podcast created by young nudists to get the word out about nudism for all to hear. However, even though we're young, anyone's welcome to listen to learn more! One of the better pieces of advice I've received is not to actually promote your podcast until you have 1 to 4 episodes out, so people can come, check out your show, and decide to subscribe, so I think after we get the first episode (and maybe the second one) in the can, we can then get this out into the podiosphere in hopes of attracting regular folks to try nudism out!

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: May 28, 2009	During a recent planning discussion in the chat room, we came up with the idea to do the Ask a Nudist segment, or maybe even the whole podcast, live, so people could ask questions and we could answer them live. The question is, how can we accomplish this? Do you know any ways? One way we could do this is to open a room in the NCH chat. The hosts could get on camera and/or audio, and listeners/viewers could dock them, then ask questions and we could respond live. An audio recording of the event would then be put in the podcast feed. However, if anyone knows a better way to host a multi-host audio show on the internet with a chat room for people to follow along in, please let us know. We'd love to make it possible for more than 30 theoretical listeners to tune into one session. Also, any other interactivity suggestions to go along with Ask A Nudist can be added to this thread.

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: May 19, 2009	All right... much like nudism itself, the only way to start a podcast is to just go for it! So what I'd like to do is figure out a time this week for us to get together on Skype (usually the best way to record a podcast from multiple locations) and record an episode. The first one, I'm thinking, should be a basic introduction, stating our goals for the podcast and giving a general "nudism for noobs" explanation of what it's all about. In future episodes, we can reference that new listeners should give this first one a quick listen, then they can listen to the rest in any order. I also think we should be bold and discuss "the hard truth." Yes, young people are going to find themselves running into a lot more older folks, and possibly a few more men, when they get to their first experience, but it's worth it! They'll find out that those are some of the coolest people they'll meet, and the only way to solve the lack of young people is to keep going, and bring friends! If you think this is too aggressive for a first show, please voice your opinion, since I want this to be a team effort. I'd like us to go into this with an outline, because trust me, when you just get on mic and start chatting, it becomes purely social really fast and you find yourself just hanging out instead of getting the podcast going. You know, let them know it's not just a bunch of retired people sunbathing all day, though of course they're a loved and accepted part of the community, too. Basically, I want this podcast to help solve the unfortunate problem of the unending loop of there usually not being very many young people at a club, therefore young people don't want to come out, therefore there usually aren't very many young people there... etc, and the circle continues. We need to get the word out that nudism is fun and relaxing, no matter who's there, and if you try it out, you'll want to convince your friends to come, too! So, what we need is a first topic, a general outline of points to make so we stay basically on-topic, and a time to record. I'll start up a topic ideas thread, too.

I tend to wear socks, especially around the house. Don't know why... maybe I'm too lazy to take them off, or maybe I just like them too much. As the terrain demands, there may also be shoes or sandals. I also make sure to wear my live naked wristband, and usually, that's it! What about you?
On Campus Nudists Roomates and Being Nude

My roommate on this side of the bathroom has a girlfriend he spends most of his time with, so he's rarely around. One of the guys on the other side of the bathroom doesn't mind, and the last guy I think would, but he's never over here. So, over all, I can usually be nude on my side of the bathroom with no trouble.

As they like to say, if you just tried the nude thing you'd enjoy it. Therefore, being the only clothed one and all of them being nude means they'd have to try it. That said, if everyone at work was nude, you couldn't keep me in my clothes! But for this hypothetical situation, I'm glad the co-workers would get a chance to try and enjoy it.

Also look around on the internets, there are some great free productions that need voice actors, and you could be a great addition, and it'd be good practice. Also, I don't have very many vocal skills, but one time, out of nowhere, I produced the perfect combination of an Irish and an Indian accent. It was... pretty amazing.

However, it's of about half of my backside, and that's it, so I'm not worried about anyone discovering it. The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Jul 12, 2008	Last semester, my roommate was cool with my nudity, so I was just chilling on my couch in the nude. Well, the couch happens to be right in view of the doorway. All of the sudden, he sort of whispers to me "you need to get dressed" while on the phone because his "little sister" (through a program helping freshmen, not genetic) was coming over to visit. But what he didn't have time to mention is that actually, in the phone conversation, she then mentioned that she was right down the hall! So, right about as she was opening the door (it was unlocked), I was attempting to whip the blanket over my body! She uttered a quick "oh my...!" and shut the door for me to have a chance to get dressed. When she finally came back in, she kept apologizing and saying "I didn't see anything!" I probably should have mentioned the fact that it didn't really matter to me (after all, people see me naked all the time!), but I didn't want to freak her out more.

In fact, when I see men in Speedos, I still have the "ugh, you can see the imprint of everything!" sort of reaction, whereas if the man were nude, I wouldn't care. It's weird, I know, but that's the way my mind works. Personally, if I have to suit up, I prefer a nice pair of loose board shorts with no liner. With more space inside and no liner holding anything up, it still feels all right. But, of course, I do prefer to not wear anything if at all possible!

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Jun 22, 2008	So, this sort of ties into the privacy topic, but I wanted to start a new topic to continue discussion and keep this group nice and active. So here goes. I tutor on the side, and I have considered it for a potential career in the future. This means that I work with kids. If a clueless parent were to find out I'm a naturist, you never know, they might have to "let you go" or something. This is one of the reasons I haven't used my full name on here, to hopefully keep me from being searchable. But, you know, what if? Do any of you have experience with this, or have you generally been okay within your respective careers? Also, is it legal to fire someone because they practice naturism? I'm pretty sure that's not covered under any protection laws...

Personally, I use an alias that sort of uses my name, but I have only posted the one face picture so that if a huge job opportunity were to come up and someone confronted me, I could at least complain a friend was playing a joke or something. As a college student, I'm still a little paranoid about career. However, I hope I can be a little more public about it, or at least a little less worried, in the future.

The_Naked_Fiddler Posted: Apr 14, 2008	note: this is copied from my journal on my profile. I just got back from my visit to Cedar Creek Park in South Carolina, and I had an excellent time! Everyone was so friendly, and when it was time to leave that was the last thing I wanted to do. I hope to go back as soon as possible. After a two or so hour drive, which I helped pass by listening to the radio play of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I arrived in Pelion, SC, and followed the directions to the park. The entrance was down a short road off the main road. I got there, called the number listed at the gate, and they gave me the code to come in. I was kind of surprised what I first encountered when I got there... the folks that greeted me were wearing clothes! Turns out some folks decided this weekend was too cold for them, but I was fine with the temperature, so that didn't bug me. I went into the office and filled out the paperwork for them, then I went back to my car and got out of my clothes. Yeah, the first hour or two were a little empty, as I didn't really get to have a good conversation with anybody. But I filled this time by going down to check out their namesake creek, which is very nice and peaceful. It was too cold that day, but if I get a chance to come back in the summer, I'll have to go for a float. They own about a half mile of creekside land, so during the warmer months folks can float down it. I got back up to the main area and decided to go for a swim. The outdoor pool was too cold, but the indoor pool was nice and warm. It was here that I finally encountered some nice naked folks to talk to. I started out with a dip in the pool while no one was around. While there, various folks came in and out to use the hot tub or to have their own dip in the pool. It was cool to finally get to meet some fellow naturists and just chat. The rest of the afternoon I spent peacefully wandering and drifting around, plus one unsuccessful attempt to actually do some homework (oh well...). At about 6:30 or 7, there was a big hot dog social dinner at two of the residents' home. Since it was getting late on a semi-cold day, there were actually a majority of folks there clothed! But it was really cool to be able to be in a room full of some naked people, some semi-clothed people, and a lot of dressed people and still nobody cared. It was an interesting experience, and it felt great. I hung out until the end and had a few more beers with the last few folks remaining and the host. The next day was pretty calm. I hung out around the clubhouse and my car, chatting with the Canadian couple and the other guy whose RV's were parked next to my car. I also went for a 3 mile walk (or, 6 laps around the club... the route is approximately half a mile) and a swim. It was overall pretty relaxing, with nothing too eventful happening. I left a little after five with hopes of coming back as soon as I can. If you're ever in South Carolina, I highly recommend you check out Cedar Creek.

I had been wanting to go nude for quite a while, but this was my first true chance. As soon as I walked over the dune, there were naked people, but it felt surprisingly okay. I did walk down the beach a bit and find a spot before dropping the clothes, but once I did, it was no big deal at all! My first club experience will actually be this weekend. Woohoo!
