Absolute Naturists arrow Would you take your mother to a nudist venue?

It was so much fun with Rusty's mom at the nude Resort. She was like the belle of the ball, swimming and chatting. We often comment how she would have liked to have come to the other places we have been in the last few years.

As for my mom while I was growning up, I would see my parents walk from their bedroom to the bathroom nude. My mom and I would talk in the bathroom while she was in the tub. When I first got into the nudist lifestyle my mom was already sick and was on dialysis every 2 days, so couldn't go anywhere. But if she needed to change clothes while we were in her little room at the hospital she was nude to dress. She would always ask questions and say that she was glad that we were having such a good time. I wish I could have been a nudist earlier so I could of taken her with us, but that is life. She died six years ago and I know she is still watching over us having fun, and wishing she was here.

Hey Olivia, thanks for the great comment.

You can be a great nudist/naturist while being an oddbutterfly and not a social butterfly. (could not resist that one)

By the way i thought it was funny.

i am not really sure why some people are compelled to have hundreds of friends, maybe they don't have some in their lives. I have only about 22 on my list, some of which I have met at some venues. Some my husband and I have met up with for coffee, some we have stopped to visit while travelling and some have even stopped at our home on their way through town. My husband is very sociable on this site so gets to chatting with a wide mix of folks and really seems to get to know them quite well. They discuss all sorts of things in their lives, not just nudity. I usually will friend people that ask, that are also friends with him, otherwise I usually don't.

I am one that does use Facebook, but on there as much as here my private life is my private life and I only answer what I am comfortable with. On Facebook I only become friends with people that I know fairly well. So I don't have a lot of people on it. Basically, my children, relatives and some friends, Most know I am a nudist but that I will NOT talk about personal things at all. Usually I just play games.
On NCH I am usually very quiet as well. My husband (Rusty) is the more sociable of us and he keeps me up on the forums. When I have something I really think I can comment on I will, but really I am not the social kind though I do try.

We will be taking some short trips around our area so we can see what needs to be done to make it ours, all nice and comfy cozy.
The one great trip we are looking forward to is in July to Sun Meadows in July. Plus, if I know my husband (Rusty) he will have a few more trips lined up before to long.

I am not comfortable with everyone at a nude resort having guns either. Others that have a mix of people I check to see if my husband is a friend or not, or if he knows of him. Then I will finish checking myself before I make a decision. If I accept any friend I want someone that has interests that are sort of similar to mine.

FireProf, I seem to always enjoy your post and this last one as well. You just seem so in tune with most people.
I am one of those "Obese" people that is a nudist. I have not asked to be this way, and it is not something that I am overly proud of. It just is what it is. Part of it is genetic and I do eat like a bird and I am not lazy. I am also sick of knowing what others usually think of me. So to that point I am lazy, because I don't care what they think of what I look like. I like the real me and so does my huband, and children. I am sad that others don't want to know the real me. The ones that have the problem with me are shallow and I DON"T CARE.

I just turned 60 on September 1. I have wanted a tattoo for almost 30 years but ex said no way. Remember he is an ex. Anyway the last few years I have been short on money and it wasn't a priority in my life.

Well, for my birthday my son, daughter and their spouses got me a gift certificate for one at a local shop in town. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I went the next day to make an appointment and showed the young lady what it was that I wanted. It's a blue butterfly with pink spots and long tails.

It only took about an hour for it to be done. It didn't hurt for the first 45 minutes, but then when she went over some spots to do the definition it started to smart like a wasp bite. But it was only for about ten minutes. She said I did well because I didn't move around and make it harder for her. When she put the ointment on at the end it felt great.

While it was healing the skin did a little tight but not painful. It only took ten days to totally heal and feel soft again.

I really would like to get another one somewhere done the line. This time with my children's names and my grandkids names on feathers. I can hardly wait to do this again.

My best time was 5 years ago when we were in Hawaii. Four of us had gone to the drum circle at Kehena beach on the east side of the island. There were about 40 musicians, most of them drum players The sun was out and the waves were kicking up with the wind. I was on the sand at the edge of the rough water nude and dancing and swaying to the beat of the music. I just blocked out the fact that others were there and just felt the wind, water and sand. It was really kind of magical. I hated to leave the beautiful time there.

Absolute Naturists arrow My experience with a misconception

oddbutterfly1

Posted: Aug 22, 2012

I think the biggest misconception that I have ever heard of came from our neighbour last year.

My boyfriend at the time (Rusty) had moved into our home about 9 years ago. I moved in 8 years ago. We got married 2 years ago.

Right from the beginning they were told that we were nudists. They appeared to be a little uncomfortable with that, but didn't say much except that they preferred not to have their children know about it. So we told them we would never be nude around their children.

Last year the neighbour came over to borrow some tools from my husband and had accidently seen him nude before he slipped on some shorts. While they were chatting there was some discussion about nudity. Kind of where we went and things that we did there. Swimming, walking, meals, playing card games, etc. Also that friends came for visits and card games, or board games at our house or theirs. The neighbour said that he thought that when others came to our house that we were having orgies or were swapping. Rusty just told him calmly that he was the one that was perverted and nothing sexual was ever done. That we did normal things like everyone else only in the nude. I think he left with a bit of a better understanding of it.

Just got back from another visit to Sun Meadow. We just seem to have more fun every time we go there, it doesn't matter to us that it is a 12 hour drive. We don't do it all in one day, but break it up into 2 so that we don't arrive tired. It was the weekend of the resort anniversary so there was lots of things to do. There was a super supper that Margie made, she is just the best cook. There was also a dance that was great. It was the first dance that I have ever been to that there was someone on the dance floor for each and every song. There was even a celebration of a couple for their 61st anniversary, it was so sweet.
Unfortunately there was some equipment break downs, but the owners, staff and even some of the guests all worked hard and fast and got everything up and running so fast that some didn't even notice. Lots worked at getting it that way so that everyone could enjoy themselves together. There was even some good times while they were doing it. It is the most friendly and relaxing time I have had in a long time. You need to check this place out.

I guess my being interested in becoming a nudist came much later in life than for most people. It didn't happen until after I was 50 years old, separated after a 32-year marriage, and living on my own.

I had started dating a wonderful man, (Rusty) who used to be my neighbour 30 years earlier. He also happened to be divorced. Since we had been friends then, we started spending time together at each other's homes getting to know each other all over again.

I had known for some time that he had been a nudist since he was a child. When we first started visiting each other he would be dressed. After a few times he asked if I minded if he undressed, which really didn't bother me, but I was going to stay dressed.

I was curious so I asked him, what it was that he liked about being a nudist. He started telling me about his childhood beginnings, being in his teens, into the adult experiences. He told me of the various clothing optional places he had been to, the wonderful people he had met, and some of the rules of nude etiquette. When he mentioned the feeling of the sun and breezes on his skin, there was the most wonderful look of joy on this face. I thought that it seemed to be something that I really wanted for myself, but wasn't sure if I was ready for something that new. I got on-line to find as much information as I could about nudism, naturism. Since I didn't know where to start, Rusty gave me a few suggestions to what I would call the clean sites. I especially enjoyed the personal stories, others had written on the subject, about their experiences and thoughts, most importantly the ones written by other women.

After awhile I found myself being nude at home and sleeping nude as well. I found that especially relaxing, as I didn't have pajamas bunched up around me. The first time I thought I should try to join Rusty nude we had decided to watch a baseball game on the television. I didn't know how to go about getting nude, so went and had a shower, just came out and sat on the sofa. At first I was very anxious waiting for some kind of sexual advance that didn't come. He explained to me that just because we were nude didn't mean that sex had to come into the picture. That made me relax and I learnt to trust him even more. Almost immediately I couldn't wait to shed the clothes as soon as I came through the door, and continue with my day like any other day.

This summer we went to a new resort that we had not been to before. It is Sun Meadow, just south of Worley, northern Idaho. The first time we went in July we had only planned to stay for 4 days, but finally decided to stay for 8 days. The resort has so much to do there, that if you get bored, it is of your own doing.

When we got there they were having the AANR western conference, so the place was packed with people, but they still found a place for us to park our camperized van.

The resort has a heated outdoor pool and a heated volleyball pool, with jets. There is a hot tub, work out machines, games area, huge kitchen, library, tv areas, wi-fi, walking trails, potluck dinners, movie nights, entertainment nights.

There are also rooms you can rent for your stay and even a cabin. There are people that have their own homes on the property like a small sub-division and live there all year long as the resort is open all yeaar round. There are folks that bring their trailers in and live there for the summer. They are all a wonderful bunch of people and they treat everyone as friends and family.

We loved the resort so much that we went there for 10 days this
September for our anniversary. We were just so relaxed that when it came time to head back home we really didn't want to go. But go we had to do. We can hardly wait for our next time to get away so that we can go back to Sun Meadow. Our most favorite place to be!!!

So if you get a chance to go to Sun Meadow, you won't be dissapointed.

I went to do my work-out. When I finished I went into the change room and stripped down without shutting the curtain. Realizing I had forgot to grab my other clothes and bag I walked over to the cubicle to get them. As soon as I turned around an older lady walked in and had a shocked look on her face. I just told her that it was a faster way to cool off. She just chuckled and I finshed getting changed and headed out.

That perticular weekend they had their 3 children, another couple with a child and a single male, younger than us. We went with another couple we had just met a few days earlier, that were also nudists. It was a nice day and we were having a BBQ in their yard and home. Since I had never done anything like this before I walked around with a huge towel wrapped around me until I got to the hottub. While sitting in the tub I noticed that everyone was sitting around (in the nude) and were visting with everyone, and no one was looking at the new nude person. It finally clicked and I learned to relax, and talked to everyone there to find out more iformation. It was so great. I have never looked back from then.

I really don't think it was a hockey game. It seem to be more than Canucks and Bruins, or east and west. It seemed to be more of Canada against the States, so it seemed in some of the interviews. There really wasn't alot of sportsmanship.
As for the riot in Vancouver some hooglims have spoiled the whole experience for all the people that were there to enjoy it and for the city as a whole. "My personal view of nude recreation is that of "I just didn't feel like getting dressed today." I'm not here to look. I'm not here to show off. I'm not here to rebel. I'm not here for sex. I'm just here because I don't like to wear clothes."

On my profile I am dressed. I had a reason for that at the time. I am selective on who sees me nude. I do know that this site is one of the best ones around, and maybe I am a prude but that is how I feel. Even though I am dressed I still am asked to be friends with men that don't have full profiles and have nothing but women as friends.

I probably don't come on here as much as some do either. Basically, Rusty (Fuzzybare) is on almost everyday and kind of keeps me up to date, so sometimes I just get to lazy to come in. I will toot my own horn though as I have been in here at least once a week to check some of the groups out as mine are a bit different than Rusty's.

I'm not sure if I am rambling, anyway I will still be choosy about my nudity on the internet.

So I straight out said that Rusty (Fuzzybare) and I were c/o or nudists.
The ladies said that it was interesting. Then the questions started and I answered them all for about 1/2 hour. It was like how long I have been one, why, to how I started. It even got to what we do when others come to our home, and the different people we meet. A couple said that they had skinny-dipped but had never thought about more than that. Even in the textile world I am shy and sometimes intimidated by people. It is something I am still working on. So when I am at a club I will sit off by myself and usually just read or have a nap..the fresh air makes me sleepy and relaxed. If someone comes up to me while I am alone and they happen to sit near by and want to talk, I have no problem having a conversation. My husband (Rusty) has helped me with what to do if I do feel uncomfortable. I can either let that person know I am uncomfortable or I can just get up and leave. It really is easier with practise. Afterwards I speak with my husband to see if I was wrong in what I thought of the situation.

That has to be just like any other advertizing out there, it shows a more positve group. If you did show a bunch of overweight, there would probably be a lot less people interested. For me though, I don't have a problem with heavy people in the pictures. More power to them. They don't have a body issue.

Becoming a nudist only seven years ago, gave me a chance to forget about the body issues I have dealt with my whole 50+ years. From 16 years old to 30 years old I was very self conscious. I even ended up being anorexic twice after the birth of my children.. Everyone said that I looked like death warmed over.. Then I hit a period where I just was so depressed I wanted to disappear and I ballooned up alot. Then I was told I had gained so much weight since the last time they saw me.. No one seemed to be happy with me no matter how I looked.

When I got together with my now husband, he showed me that no matter what size I was I was a beautiful person, inside and out. He was the one that showed me that nudists did not make judgements on people. I really found that to be true for the most part. Yes I am large, and I know that it needs to go, for me to be healthier, and spend more time with my family. I am a work in progress. But I never want to feel that I don't fit in to what other people are doing. I still want to enjoy the sun, wind and water and all my new friends, just like everyone else.

I am also one of those women that are more comfortable being top free than bottom free, but have no problem being totally nude either. That stems from a woman's health problem I have, that I won't get into.
What really got me into the nudist lifestyle was my boyfriend at the time (Fuzzybare) who is now my husband. I have known him as a friend for over 30, he was been someone that I trust.I knew that he was a lifetime nudist. When we got together as a couple he would tell me about the places he went, who he met and how he felt about all of it. He even told be of the different sensations he felt of the sun, rain, water and breezes. I could see the joy in his face when he was describing it. He showed me some sites of women being involved in nudity and their experiences.
I would start being nude around the house, just the two of us slowly, and when I was comfortable doing so. No pushing or rushing into it. I trusted him so much that I knew he would not get me into a situation that was not good for me or us....So in short I think that it was my full trust of my husband that got me started. this is my statement anyway.

I know that was the wrong way to go about it but it was easier that way for me.

With this site though, Fuzzybare is in here just about everyday and lets me know what is going on, and who said what, then we usually talk about it. He is more of a social person than I am. Rusty and I just got back last weekend from 18 days in Maui. This had been our second trip there. The weather didn't really help with getting much sun time on the beach. There was 2 weeks of strong winds, so it would blow the sand around and made the waves pretty rough.

We did go over to Little Beach near Makena. When we had been there 2 years ago it was great, but this time I was not overly impressed at all. I would say that well over 50% of the people were textile. It is a very small beach and we would have preferred if they would have stayed at Big Beach. There was one group of about a dozen folks came there and just plunked themselves down and had a picnic party. I don't go to their beach, so I wish they would.

But we did go to Baby Beach in Paia, between the Baldwin Beaches. It is mostly used by the locals and it was very enjoyable. Basically most of the folks there were nude and just seemed to enjoy their time. There is a walkway between the beaches where people walk back and forth. But we have never been bothered by anyone. It was just plain relaxing.

We also had three days in Hana in a place call Maui Accomadation Cottages. We have stayed there before. He knows we are nudists. We had a cottage in the back of the property, with a back deck and a side patio. The owner had no problem with us roaming around the property. He had told his other quests and no one had a problem with that.

So we did get some nude time in, and we really had a most marvelous relaxing time.

We are in the process of going back to Maui for a week in January or February again this year. We would like to go to a different island after that, but are not sure which island. We are not into all the touristy stuff. We would like to find some beaches that are clothing optional and relatively easy to get to, also accomodations that are pleasant but not fancy. If you have any ideas, could you please let me or Fuzzybare know. Thanks!!

I think I have been pretty lucky in here. I haven't had any bad things happen to me yet. I have also had almost as many women as men ask for a friend request. I have turned down a few requests also, but mainly because I can't see their profile or they haven't said anything for me to know what they are like. I have been burnt alot on some not so savory sites, now I just watch more closely.

Nudist Club Trip Reports arrow Holiday to the Northwest

I am from BC, Canada. We (Rusty and I) recently got back from holidays in the northwest states, and it was amazing. Our first leg of the trip we headed down to Happycampers in Mission, BC. which is a clothing optional camping spot. It is on a farm in that area that they have opened up, and supports about 12 camping hookups. It was the owners 80th birthday, so he put on a pig roast, and bonfire for everyone. There were about 9 couples and about 5 singles. We had 4 lovely days there just to relax.
From there, we headed down to Mountaindale Sun Resort in northern Oregon, for their Strawberry Festival. We went last year, so knew we were going to have a great time. Everyone was just so friendly. When you walk past someone the say ?Welcome and enjoy your stay?. There were all kinds of activities to keep a person busy. For the supper on Saturday evening there were 44 members and 88 visitors. They served large steaks that were fork tender, with baked potatoes, vegetables and of course strawberries with ice cream. We managed to have 5 wonderful days at the resort.
Our last c/o spot was at Fraternity Snoqualmie near Issaquah in Washington State. We have been there a few times before, so were familiar with some of the folks that stay there during the summer months. The only bad part was, that it decided to rain for the 3 days we were there. It didn?t stop us from enjoying ourselves we just put up a tarp over the door of the van.
After enjoying ourselves we spent the rest of the time visiting with relatives on our was home. But it was a wonderful holiday that we will remember for a long time.

I have had a few episodes with men, textile and nudists. When it comes to textile men, I have no problem giving back to them what ever they are trying to say to me, or just plain tell them where to go and how fast to get there. Then I just let it go and walk away.

But, when it comes to nudist men, I find that they tend to be a little more subtle. It what they say or do makes me uncomfortable I talk to my boyfriend about the situation to see if it was my insecurity, I took it the wrong way, or if there really is a problem. After which if it was a problem we would speak with whom ever was the director of the group, and that person is watched or spoken to.

Growing up I had a pretty good body until I hit forty, then I gained alot of weight. Now that I am in my fifties I am a BIG girl. But I have found that I am more self-concious about my size when I am around textile people that when around nudists.
I have found that alot of textile folks spend alot of time picking people apart, whether to thin, fat, walk funny, colored, I think you know what I mean. DIFFERENT.
But I have been to may different nude venues and not heard nasty comments.
I went to a nude swim once and saw a lady that was almost twice my size and I remember thinking to myself how proud and regal she looked because of the way she carried myself, after that I didn't care anymore what size I am, it is all about me and how I feel about myself. I am happy with me and that is all that matters.

Both of my children are in their 30's, and I have only been a nudist for about 5 years now, since getting a divorce from their dad. So they were already adults before I changed my life around and they had lives of their own. So as far as I was concerned they had no say in whether I became a nudist or not. As it stands for now, neither really are concerned with what I do. My oldest lives near me and has our grandson. She does not care for me and my partner to be nude when she comes over, and we would not try to make her uncomfortable. She is aware that while we watch him when she is out that we are nude and that as soon as he is potty trained he will be able to be nude as well. They are sort of nude at home, so they have no problem with that.
My youngest lives practically on the other side or the country so really doesn't concern him on way or another.
My mom was the only person I was concerned about and she thought it was a wonderful thing for me. She loved to hear about the different places that we had gone to, she always said that she was happy for me that I finally found out what freedom and happiness was about.

Skinny Dippers and Chubby Dunkers arrow Biggest skinny dipping adventure

oddbutterfly1

My biggest skinny dipping adventure was with another couple from up north of us. We were having a bbq at a small lake near where we live.It only has one tiny little beach area on it. We about 30 miles down the highway and 5 miles down an old logging road. A truck with an older couple drove by about 4 times, but that's not the exciting part, by the way.
About half an hour later we say a white car with blue and red lights on the top, coming down the road. Believe it or not it was the RCMP, our local law force.
The other couple were in the water, and my boyfriend and I were cleaning up the dishes. We didn't run to get dressed, as were weren't doing anything wrong. He stopped and told us the people that came by earlier had called about us, so he had to come and check us out. We told him about the canadian law (first come first served in private). He said he would check on it. Anyway he stayed for a soda, and we chatted for half an hour. We were all nude the whole time, except for the officer. How much trouble can 4 fifty year old people get into, plus we had got a garbage bag full of junk from the camp site. All in all it was an interesting time.
