The nude beach at San Onofre State Beach is in the process of being taken away from us. This is a very bad thing. In addition to the thought of losing just one nude beach, the Cahill Policy that the state park department is overturning, is what makes nudity legal in the California State Park system. Thus, if this is allowed to happen, we risk losing MANY nude locations, both beaches and other park areas. PLEASE read the following statements, and write letters according to the directions in the statements.
UPDATE 5/21/2008
As of now, the park rangers will start "educating" beach goers that nudity is illegal around June 1, 2008. They will start issuing citations for nudity approximately 30 days after that.
Please read the following statements to learn what you can do:
Who is Ruth Coleman?
The history of the policy can be found at the California State Park Ranger Association website.
Please visit the Friends of San Onofre Beach for more information on the beach group.
